The Roborace team return from Hong Kong having assembled two more DevBot’s in Oxford. The team takes DevBot 2 on the track for the first time at Silverstone.
Both cars are tested and set to run in driverless mode ahead of a visit to Marakesh that coincides with the United Nations COP22 global climate change initiative and a driverless demo on a Formula E city street track.

Awesome stuff, many years ago i was hoping for closed cockpits on prototype cars, now we've got em , but for these kind of class you could use open cockpits and have them sealed of during driverless mode for better aerodynamics .

Will your cars have a network of knowledge ? teaching each other mistakes etc... ?
Like you put dev bot 1 and 2 on the track, you make them race.
Dev bot 2 win and share his logs on the network, Dev bot 1 learn.
    You start again,
Dev bot 1 win and shares its knowledges => devbot 2 learn
Damn I'm as excited about this project as I am about SpaceX :D

Jackie Scholl yeah but technologys like kers or the electric engines in formula e are developed with the purpose of racing but still get involved in normal street-cars.
Autonomous driving is one of the biggest davelopments right now, so some stuff used here might be part of your car in the future :P

Why do people want to kill the pleasure of driving and the human element of Motorsport? As someone who loves Motorsport for the feeling it gives of watching human drivers compete and the sensations of driving a race car and the automobile itself as a symbol of self expression, freedom and control. The bond between human and machine is a sacred thing. This makes me sad.

You'd almost think the radio communication was authentic and not scripted, recorded in a studio and then audio-engineered when putting all the footage together 😉. But anyway, good to see you guys making progress. Can't wait for the first Roborace 🤞.

And still we are yet to see the car take more than one corner in a row in autnomous mode m)
Just give us an onboard lap already! And maybe some specs, like battery, power etc. I saw it going 150 kph in the video, so it can probably do more than that ^^

What if you connected the DEvbots to a deep learning network in the future when you have more of them. They would be able to learn more about driving conditions across a variety of tracks, learning how to better drive.

I don't see how this is any different to the self-driving BMW that Top Gear showed going around the track by itself (5+ years ago), and Fifth Gear showed an Audi RS7 doing the same. What does Roborace add?

I Love technology and all this stuff, but to be honest as a Formula 1 FanBoy, A race without the human factor makes no sense to me.
Whats the trill to download a script telling how to pass thru the circuit? Every each lap will be the same!
Correct if I'm wrong, if you put two equal cars, with the same script, they gonna make equal lap times, have equal tear and wear, and gonna use the tired at the similar rate, right?

But think of 20 of those on a track, all fighting for the 'perfect' line through a particular corner etc. They're going to have to teach these cars how to race as well as how to drive.

I think this is an incredible project and a fantastic technological
achievement, but at the same time, I hate the idea of seeing motorsports
become this. It would lose the human side, and unlike drivers, they
won´t make unthinkable overtakes, they won´t have rivaries, they won´t
have feelings. A human being will, and that is why motorsports are what
they are. A computer won´t beat that
