- Last year we drove our Evo 9 MR and STI swapped Subaru Forester from Florida to Alaska. Now, we're going to take another road trip! We've bought a supercharged Miata and Type R swapped Honda Civic to drive from the Florida Keys to Nova Scotia. It's a round trip journey of over 7,000 miles.
We drove our turbo cars from Florida to Alaska. We took our STI drivetrain swapped Subaru Forester and Mitsubishi Evo 9 MR on a journey of over 10,000 miles. This isn't click bait, we actually did it! Or rather, you'll have to watch to find out if we actually made it all the way!

Wreck was nobody’s fault but my own. First pass of day went in to hot. Bike was totaled I’ve got 6 screws and a plate in my collarbone but I’m already back riding again :) could have been worse
I'm so glad to hear you're okay!
great to hear you're okay now man!
Glad you are okay!!
I just hit a moose last week and wreaked my car got a few bumps and scrapes minor concussion, I got off lucky so I feel your pain, car is sadly totaled, but glad your okay dude!
Glad to hear you're okay man!
You don't need 1000hp to have fun, these two are a perfect example of this
1000 is faster that 300
@@riyuiwashere don't mean more fun when you can rarely use all 1000hp
Thats the reason why i bought a dc5 ! so fun car
1000 hp is a pain to drive tbh
@@lostgps3005 yep
Whoever the guy is that filmed, you ran so fast. May ggod bless you.
たくみ ふじわら usane bolt over here

Jairus Madria he’s talking about the guy who fell off the bike
Yeah that was a gnarly wreck. :(
Honestly an idol
4:48 jeez man, I’m glad he hopped off before going off the edge
Dna Drewzy why didn't they take him on thier car
@@N12Gautam That's something you never have to do, just because taking someone to the hospital in your car can be dangerous if the guy is injured. Best thing you can do is call an ambulance, and try to keep the guy safe and stable, and let the paramedic do their job. Also, the guy could put a lawsuit on them for not calling an ambulance.
bubi32des true, that sucks. But what if they recorded them asking can we take you to the hospital?
If they get in an accident taking him to the hospital whatever prior injuries he had would now be on them
your comment made me click before the vid even started, and then the superb cinematics and great storytelling just kept me going, kinda sad I clicked it now :D
I bet that guy driving the ambulance is enjoying the curves
@@EstorilE36M345 That's the joke
Eric Johnson boi that went soaring over your head
The ambulances in San Diego, some, have a supercharged 5.4 in them to deal with the weight. I wonder if the suspension was beefed more for this. I'd have fun
Not gonna be a fun ride out for the guy that wrecked
They actually dread calls from hwy 129, because often crashes are much worse. People get scrubbed off of that road often.
“Detroit is an incredible place... it’s really cool to see all the abandoned buildings”
I mean we’ll take it I guess🤷♂️
Exactly. I thought at least they wouldve filmed downtown.
If you are into urban decay photography it’s a paradise.
It's sad really
yeah... as much beauty is in Detroit's decay, theres a ton of destroyed lives in it too, people forget that.
@@flukeDC4 amen brother.
The fact that this accident occurred on the bend where you were filming, makes it so much important and the guy who was involved in this accident, provided that he survived and saw this video, he will definitely be grateful for the prompt response the cameraman took right after it happened.
That guy was booking it to the scene, props
He has survived and is feeling well, apparently. He left a comment under this video. (I think the pinned one)
That red RX7.... Could it be the Dragon King?
?
@@juhokokkonen6518So it's said that the fastest man on The Dragon drives a red RX7, people that know of him usually call him the King or the Dragon King. He's been driving that road for decades and according to the locals nobody can touch him...
Damn, that's cool
Initial D vibes
@@juhokokkonen6518 I know right! Old man Keisuke lol, I've only seen him once in person but if you hadn't heard the stories from the locals you'd almost never guess how fast the guy really is.
it's him, he was up at the overlook for some hours that day. too many wrecks to get a good run in.
Meow
Sadly it could be argued because they were there it happened. Target fixation on someone that looks to be holding a speed gun.
I hope he's okay and that's the end of it.
Ferdinand Reisch I don’t think that is what happened. I think the just got scared by the cars and did not calculate the curve correctly.
there are daily cycling crashes on the dragon, and several turns through the course will have photographers set up with tents to snap photographs to motorists who are passing thru and sell them on their website. it's a busy place. accidents happen but i wouldn't blame it on the guys filming.
@@FerdinandReisch You must have never driven the Dragon. There are Professional Photographers at 3 or 4 of the turns taking pictures that you can then buy on their website. I have some good action shots of my Toyota Tundra doing the Dragon when I accidentally took that route on a work trip.
Damn Brian beat me to it, guess I didn't hit reply lmao
Loving the Civic Type R
Im slowly falling in love with that cute Honda.
Umbra says I used to own one :) 98 hatcback dx and it was a manual, hands down one of my favorite cars. I have a del sol now
Got an EK with B18C4 engine (basically C1 GSR) with proper coils and brake upgrade its a blast to drive!, might upload some more
@@DevasionX i am about to get a 2003 Civic 5 door. It will last long and its surprisingly peppy. 150Nm of torque by a 105hp engine. Sounds perfectly fine to me!
Such a great episode! Can’t wait for the track battle next week! 🤙🏼
god, these videos do not feel like 20 minutes long, they're such a joy to watch and so well made
It takes a long time to cover the 11 miles especially at the posted 30mph. If the state people were smart, they'd do what the Germans did with the Nurburgring.
Make the road a single direction toll road with a 30mph speed advisory but no tickets being issued if you exceed the speed advisory.
Charge $25 per entry or a $1,600 unlimited entry yearly pass
The income would go to maintenance and Emergency and Fire services.
The thing about the Dragon and the other roads in the areas is that the police will nab people for going egregiously over the limit, but there's a catch to the whole thing. When I was there, one of my friends who was leading the group got clocked at 85 in a 30. But on the Dragon, the cops will pretty much always knock it down to a 5 or 10 over unless you're being an asshole. They do this because they know you're spending money on local businesses and are essentially tourism money for the area, which trickles back into their department. So they don't want you to go away, they just want their extra cut (i.e, the speeding ticket). They're super nice about it too. They'll shoot the shit with you about your car and just tell you to be safe and use common sense.
I live near tail of the dragon I’ve drove it before in a Chevy Silverado and now I am realizing that I broke the speed limit by a long shot.
Tail of the dragon: notorious for being hard to drive on
Takumi: observe
U should go there because theres no guardrails so you wouldnt just crash into one...
unfortunate there aren’t any gutters
Every time I’ve driven the dragon I get stuck behind a dude in an rv
Boom. Notification popped up. Clicked, liked, and watched. Excellent content, guys. Keep crushing it.
Hell yeah brother that's how we do it
Man both cars are awesome
I love road trips with Gears and Gasoline
Yeah they gotta do some more lol
if only i could go on a road trip again, oh wait they are miserable if you dont have a 2nd opr 3rd car to carry your shit so i was driving a 05 mustang gt with camping shit that would last weeks, so uneven weight and my car wasnt track ready, it was on all seasons and bald tires. i hate that my car want ready for shit but this was febuary on a trip to canada for a 2 week long camping trip.
@@ChillingCap sounds like a you problem. If you plan it out they can be really good
You guys have gained even more of my respect for not making a clickbaity title about the motorcycle accident. Keep up the great work.
Bruh this is better than half the TV shows on cable
i know it is very entertaining
Is Gears & Gasoline Annual Road Trip going to be a thing?
Jacky William I hope
*Thank you guys for warning people about the tail of the dragon and teaching people to be aware and drive safely on the road❤️*
Anyone else think of Initial D watching these guys take the corners?
The civic has to be one of the sexiest cars ever made, and I hope that guy and his bike are all goods
why are you pointing a speed gun at your head
“think fast”
It was bothering me so much that you bought two quarts of oil at $10 a piece rather than just getting the 5 quarts for a bit more ha
Doubt they had to pay for it. Advanced is sponsoring them and single quarts are easier to carry and easier to measure when just topping up.
He bought a horse for $20. Whats $10/quart oil?
The best part of this whole video is when they caught an actual footage of an accident on camera yet did not use that scene as a clickbait to get views.
You guys have all my respect! This video deserves everything they've worked to pull this out. God bless ya'll.
Great video. You guys are great at story telling and the video work that you do. This channel is one of the reasons why I decided to dabble in photography and filming.
This channel is like the Blue Planet of cars and it's amazing. Keep on keeping on fellas.
Lay off the devil lettuce BRO
Valve tick is only normal on miatas on cold start and should go away when it's warm. He should check if the oil is low or something.
Miata U
And guess what, it was the oil
*Yay! The cvic wasnt stolen! GOOD JOB BEN
You should have put some spoiler alert warnings! 😡😂😂😂
Just watched the 1st episode, i loved it and now this man you guys are good.
For all the haters of low HP cars.. it's not all always about having huge HP. It's how drive and make the most of it with what you got. But most importantly let's have fun in the twisties SAFELY.
Saw some dude in a stock Euro spec S13 a week or two ago. He had a slap sticker on his bumper that said "Low Power Heroes" and I've been looking for it ever since.
MrNobody or you can have a fast car and haul ass
Lolatyou332 not on corners.
preludeF20Bking yes on corners. When you are entering a corner braking is important, when you are exiting a corner acceleration is important. When you are taking the corner grip is important. Most sports cars with any power have electronic stability control which will make it easier to take sharp corners while still having the power behind them to reach peak speeds to take a turn.
preludeF20Bking civic doesn’t even handle good around turns either because it is front wheel drive. RWD/AWD(with differential, most power in the rear) are better around turns in general because they can apply power without sacrificing their peak grip on the front tires.
MAJOR respect for helping that person who had the bike crash
This is what car culture is all about, having a blast with you friends in fun cars!!
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I WANTED THIS VIDEO! Thank you Ben and Ben!
While you're traveling, it feels like I'm driving with you too! You are perfectionists and you deserve congrats for that!
This whole video series is fantastic. The camera work really makes you feel like you are there with you guys for the ride. Looking forward to next week
Absolutely amazing content every time! I look forward to the weekends, not just for my own project civic, but for gears and gasoline as well. Keep up the great content guys!
Perfect way to start my Saturday 👍
Wow it's been a week already
20 minutes flew right by. I love your guys’ road trip series from last road trip. Can’t wait for the next episode!!
One of the best, most well made videos I've seen on CZcams. Really inspiring, and makes me want to go out and drive. Keep up these absolutely amazing videos.
"sneak out to top off the oil", lmao! All that high rpm highway driving definitely is helping burn it faster too!
I live in Windsor, so I can cross the border and constantly explore the abandoned parts of Detroit, and as you mentioned, has a lot of history
You guys are the best. Love the way you show the things that you’ve lived on the trip.
Cheers from Costa Rica!
Missing my Civic 97 Ex while watching the video!
Absolutely love these road trips, Can't wait for next week's episode.. Great work fellas.. 🙌🔥
R1 rider was a paid actor
Lol
suGIXXaru probably but it was still dangerous
@Ride to nowhere life on to wheels ! they aren't gonna crash a bike?
Ok boomer
wow the speed academy cameo was great didn’t expect it great series!!!
Beautiful, interesting video. Thank you for making it. LOVE that supercharger whine, just a nice little boost!
Again best quality content, emotional and addictive as always. The only channel that gets me to watch through the whole season with 20mins videos each. Please drive safe and keep those vids up.
I absolutely love this channel and as a Canadian, Speed Academy is one of my favourite car channels on CZcams this collab and hopefully the next one is such a dream come true! :D Keep up the amazing work! I just hope they put out a track video alongside yours... ;)
Ali? didn't know canada was filled with terrorists.
Hondas doesn't aways burn oil, it can also mean that you're leaking oil through your head gasket or oil pan gasket or if you can't find it it's probably vtec solenoid and if you're still having problem after that you need a catch can.
Exactly, I thrashed both my 20-25 year old B series and didn't have oil consumption issues. But I did take care when it came to maintenance. That's where others fail.
jeffrey jean-francois do you know what year the civic is?
Finally bought some octane booster, nice thinking. Love these road trips.
i've gotten chills multiple times whilst watching this series, both the first and current, shout out to the camera men and the editor, this shit bangs
Greetings from Germany! Love your videos
The Honda sounds so good on the Tail of the Dragon.
The cinematography is always amazing, hands down the best car channel out there. I dunno how you guys do it but i always come back end rewatch these videos.
The quality of work they put into this channel is unreal 💯
Love this series and it shows you don’t need over 800 horsepower to have fun! Also coming from a Mini Cooper S owner so I may be a little biased 😂
Anything over 500hp is only fun in a straight line and dangerous around corners, so it’s true u really dont need a lot of hp to have fun
YOOO I saw you guys in Cornwall Ontario one morning at Harv’s diner, that’s wicked!!!
Couldn’t wait for you guys to post this! Thank you for great content! VTEC!!!
Your video production is second to none and this adventure takes your work to the next level. This channel is the perfect emulation for car people to share their own experiences with others. I have yet to find another form of media that demonstrates those special and personal car moments that are near impossible to convey otherwise. Must be such a rewarding feeling to have your passion hit home with likewise people around the world.
Wow I'm actually early. I love this series (and the last one) so much!
Still love going back and watching the older road trip videos… love these guys!!
"I have a miata and I'm fabulous" was that James Charles LMFAO!!!!
The writing in these episodes are great. Almost TG/GT levels.
Hands down my favorite series🙌🏼
Only issue is to few videos.
A trip of this type should have more. We will end up with 2-3 over the trip. Need more.
Woohooo. Made it on the video at 19:03 behind Dave !!! :-)
Cool💪💪
Man still impressed how far you guys have become and so happy that you have "made" it. Just Incredible
Never heard of this channel until a few days ago. Absolutely loved this series and can't wait to see the next one. As someone who has made this trip in not only my fully built Civic Type R Clone, but in my WRX as well, I have mad respect for you guys! I must have gotten lucky both times because I did nothing but put gas in each car and change the oil at the destination and before leaving. But being those places in your OWN vehicle really does make all the difference. You form a new bond with your car(s) and become proud of their accomplishments just as if they were your children. Would love to meet up with ya the next time you stop at Alki Beach in Seattle for that sweet view. The city changes at night, becomes a ghost town and all the busy roads during the day open up and make for some really fun runs around the city, especially through the new i90 tunnel. Off to watch the next series!
YES!! I love your stuff, and these road trips are always fun! I thought you might make a joke about where to store the miata's hardtop while in FL... where did it go?? in the back of the civic??
We just put it in the living room of our airbnb
They have a third car (SUV) following them.
Can’t take my eyes off that civic 👀
Man thanks for the memories yall. I grew in Robbinsville, NC right at the other end of the dragon. Been through there so many times making trips to Knoxville. I got a pic somewhere of my truck almost on two weeks comin round a corner.
I LOVE THIS SERIES! I LOVE THE EDITING, STORYTELLING & CINEMATOGRAPHY! KEEP IT UP ♥️
There's no way that Civic was purchased for $5,000
i have a dc2 gsr and i got it for 2300, if your patient and good at looking you can piece honda's together cheap
same I find it hard to believe that was $5k...
Until you try selling one for $5k, then you'll be surprised he paid that much for it, lol.
It is swapped it is said in the beginning.
He proved it on there ig
you should do 500 dollar cars next!!!
G&G be like:
"Ok guys we got this neon and s10 off craigslist and lets hope we don't die on these next 10k miles."
Steven Hamke I’ve put over 10k on $100 cars. Not all at once and not without maintenance. But still.
I really like watching these road trips you guys do. Keep them coming.
I loved the first road trip with just you two more that this, even though this is nice to watch as well keep it up looking forward to next Saturday and after that hopefully another trip
Imagine getting stuck behind an overly cautious driver on the tail of the dragon
Pit maneuver
I want the Civic!!! Id seriously sell my M3 for it!
Dew it
Same. I’d sell my 335i for that Miata
Best series!!! And so refreshing that my 5-yr-old could watch with me, and there was no language!!
Its just taught us that "you don't need to have very expensive super car to enjoy the road, and the car it self". Really loving that vtec and supercharge sound. Hope you guys are always well and safe on the trip
The real ripoff is paying 9.99 a quart when Walmart sells 5 quart jugs for $21. That's why advance auto parts and auto zone will soon die off
Oil change deals are good but that's pretty much all i buy from auto parts stores.
I believe that they'll price match if you ask
Bruh I got the 5 quarts and filter from autozone for 30
Tail of the dragon in a Ford Expedition is not fun in case anyone was wondering.
This series (just like the last one) is insanely good. Video quality is off the charts and you guys crack me up with the miata and Honda jokes. Keep up the great work, you guys are definitely headed somewhere great!
Love the Speed Academy visit! Wish there would have been time for more collab with them. Their build/track experience with G&G filming would be epic.
Next road trip you do is Honda Accord 1997 and Nissan Sentra 97 or Toyota Corolla 1997
How about 1996 Corolla
I’m a Miata owner myself and I am confident! That the Honda is faster. Lol but who is the better driver, is the question?
Two of my favourite hannels interacting! I just wish it lasted longer!!
Great vid guys! Looking forward to the next one for sure!!!!!
you guys are driving super close to each other with no reason. Give each other some space, it will be more enjoyable and more importantly, it will be more safe.
Awesome video guys. I really enjoyed it
benjamin mellingen maybe its for video purposes
@@thlin yeah, maybe. I didn't think of that
My honda never burned oil. I feel this is a way to shoehorn in more Advance Auto Parts stops.. Call me a cynic
Notifications Squaddddd.. Assemble!!!!
7:38 the all new Subaru ascent. Love, it’s what makes a Subaru a Subaru.
THANK YOU!
I really love this kind of videos you do, its awesome! :D
Just put some 10w60 instead of that 5w30.. that's why the car burns so much oil.
So Ben IS a hairdresser!
Gears and gasoline never disappoint always bringing quality videos with perfect angles shots.
You guys are every bit as entertaining to watch as Top Gear, and maybe even more so. Great job!
