Floor never shows off. She just sings the song the best way she can every time.
I generally agree with you, but on this show I believe I saw her smuggle a very subtle "shot across the bow." As the least-known person on the show (even Tim had only barely heard of her before), she ended up being the first to sing. Her reputation was as a metal singer for a foreign band so no one (but Tim) had any idea of what to expect. She chose to sing for the most famous person on the show at the time, Henk (Henck?) with "Vilja Lied." She rocked it up a slight bit, making it her own, not shying away from her own expertise, tackling a song very personal to Mr. Poort, and when she was finished and the strangers on the couches cheered with gaping mouths, I believe I saw just the slightest hint of a smirk in her eyes, as if she knew she had set the bar everyone would be forced to reach for ... and on purpose. She was not shy and hit that series as strongly as anyone else there and won them all over instantly. But look at her face at the end as the others applaud and cheer and I believe you may detect a very small, justified, hint of pride and conquest. And she knew what she was doing even before the reaction. Not boastful by any means ... but properly confident and, quietly, aggressive. Assertive. Indomitable. A queen among princes.
There has never been a singer that was able to draw so much emotion from me than Floor. ❤️ She opens her mouth & the world becomes a better place instantly. ✨ Imagine going through life and not even knowing she exists.😱

There is only one person in this world that can sing and either give me goosebumps or tears each time. It´s Floor... and it doesn´t stop no matter how much I listen to her.. every time I watch her perform I feel so overwhelmed by emotion. I like many other vocalists too but it´s just different. Floor is a once in a lifetime discovery for me and I am so grateful for that.

Floor showed a great deal of versatility in this series of Beste Zangers, all with the same emphatic ability which gives the songs an extra layer of intensity.
One of my favourite things about this video is when Tim says "God dammit Floor!" Gets me everytime..

Well, this is definitely a late one for you. It was probably my favorite performance or one of them on that show by her. So I look forward to it.

Tim wrote an awesome song and, Floor made it amazing. Floor just doing Floor.
Some singers show off, like the song is there for them, in service of them. Floor doesn't, she does what the song needs - the artist in service to the art.
A bit more about intensity: Some of the most intense parts of various musical compositions are at moments of piano, or even sustained rests. The musicians who, regardless of instrument, understand this at the intuitive level make what the composer envisioned come alive, perhaps even beyond his/her expectations.

Floor is it for me, believe me, I have spent my life listening to great vocalists, it is awing. I listen to Floor and can't even help being swept away by her, nor do I want to.

Hello Mr. Charlie, it is always a pleasure to listen to your explanations and as a non-singer I take even more respect for this art with me. I have already completed the master classes of Floor, as a silent ;-) viewer, here I followed the classes with great interest and all the Nightwish, Floor and ... reactions. I am familiar with many vocal artists, but for me Floor is always especially memorable with all her bands, projects and covers. This dedication to conveying stories and feelings in the execution, with the smallest details, with ease but emphatically ... in short: expression and joy in the art of singing...but I as a simple listener whom I am telling something. As a small personal Floor example for memorable listening: Arjen Lucassen has next to "Ayreon", the "Star One" project and on the album "Victims Of The Modern Age" Floor has several background vocals ... and despite this, or perhaps because of that, these songs stick in my mind.So,...You're a winner ... rise your hands .... Thank you very much and all the best to all vocal artists. May the Floor Force be with you ...

From this performances I always miss the prelude and epilogue. The explaining of the song and the reactions to it are amazing. Talking about emotions, in this series of performances "About love I dont know a thing" is brutally perfect.
Good reaction! Floor, she sings this song as a song of triumph. She calls everyone there to join in when she calls to 'raise your hand' and offers a diamond with the ending so soft.

Yes, there's something in her voice that resonates to me every time. It must be some technical issue, but for me it's totally a emotional thing.

It's not about just how she gets all planned intelligently, how good her technique, how clear her vocals are...she gets us with her emotion and passion. Btw, I love how Rolph was her biggest cheerleader throughout the whole show 😁 You should do double reaction to Nightwish - Our decades in the sun, studio version and Samantha Steenwijk's cover of it, she sang to Floor. You're gonna love it!

@@horscategorie Yes, although according to one of my teachers of Dutch once told me that: In Dutch all occurrences of PH are now replaced by F except in standard expressions like Dophoed and Ophaalbrug. This probably shows my age (and that some jokes don't translate well)
She nearly breaks Rolf several times on this show.
I think the only reason I consider this a tear jerker is because of Tim's face. If I had heard it for the first time without this video I'd probably just have grinned like a maniac the whole time

Floor has the two most important things imho that all the legendary vocalists like a Freddie Mercury, Aretha Franklin or Steve Wonder did have. She does understand the core message/theme and emotion of a song. She then puts her very own spin on it without ever straying too much from the original. And she has the ability to make the audience feel that message and the emotions of the song she does perform. Her huge versatility and aray of vocal techniques is amazing and that alone is enough to make her stand out above many others more popular performers. But I think it is the first two things why plenty of people like her so much and are this impressed with her.

There are so many great technicians, songster wise.. But Floor, she's something else. Love, love, love it how you try to catch that 'je ne sais quoi' as we say in the Netherlands ;)
Or rather, the 'difference that makes the difference'. Because she really is different.
However much I always love your assessment of the human being behind the singer, I think I'll have to disagree with you, or perhaps take your guess just one step further. When you say there must be something within that resonates & brings the emotion, I say yes.
The next level being that the 'thing' she treasures inside, is able to connect with something way outside & inside us. Something that engulfs us all. I'd go so far as to submit that somehow, she's able to tap into the resonant energy of the universe and connect us with it through whatever she sings. I can imagine the Swedish forest around their house emptying of wildlife when she sings in the shower, because all of these creatures will then be right outside, listening.
That is the best way to describe, perhaps somewhat clumsily as a non-native speaker why for me, Floor feels larger than life. Way beyond just a great singer. Because the thing that makes her so very different is not about her at all. It's about & around all of us. She has the gift to make you feel it. A glimpse of a cosmic soul.

And Floor once told in another Dutch tv show that she's a Highly sensitive Person, as am I. It can be quite challenging to feel so much, but she has found the perfect way to use the depth of het feelings and convey them through her singing ...... her feelig things, makes us feel things evn more

It's easy to draw tears through sad songs. What's harder to draw tears through emotions that are generally considered to be feel good songs. For then you truly have to push them through the walls.

Charlie, how about reacting on Twitch to the Nightwish virtual concerts from last week? Got the links for you if you want.
Until there's an authorized CZcams posting of it, that would not be a good idea. People had to pay to attend the concert, and it wouldn't be fair to have people streaming it on Twitch weeks later.
@@Metal_Auditor Get that. People already uploading the concert on fridaynight WHILE the tickets were still on sale for the second concert on saturday was a huge no no, this could have affected ticketsale, i was against that either. However, now that the concerts are over it's different i think. There are many people who didn't have the money to buy a ticket, or weren't able to see them for whatever reason.
Also, many full Nightwish concerts on CZcams (Wacken/Wembley/Tampere/Buenos Aires) are not authorized by Nightwish either, nevertheless many reactors have streamed them, and we watched them. Little bit hypocrite if we now suddenly don't want to see the virtual concerts on CZcams.

@@Harolddespui it’ll be fine eventually, like maybe after the band starts out on a regular tour again, but I’d say the sales for the virtual show included paying for the exclusivity of seeing them.

About the mouth. Tim compared himself to a lion. Now look at the cover of the Northward CD. Who is the real lion here?
Any intro or outro music has to be corny to off-set the content of the programme. If it competes with the content it will impact negatively on viewing figures. One of the first lessons in marketing that is thought. Why do you think elevator music is a thing?

Floor needs to be expelled from all competitions becoue is just not fair to other contestants... i mean if she is competing in any show or competition, how can you justify anyone else winning??
