  • How to Plant, Grow and Care for Begonia Plant - Here in this video, you are going to learn everything about Growing Wax Begonia and Rhizomatous Begonia plants in containers. I have covered all the things from repotting my plants to flowering so that you can find complete Begonia plant care info in a single video :-)
    Things that You Would Learn from the Video -
    1. Selecting an ideal container to grow Begonia plants
    2. Preparing the best potting soil mix for Begonia plants
    3. Sunlight requirements
    4. How to water begonia plants?
    5. Fertilizing your begonia plants

    Thanks for very useul info. I have planted wax begonia as border and find it difficult to avoid afternoon sun as well as pre-monsoon rains. Some of them are drying and some are wilting. I will try fungicide as the one you mentioned, but there is no way to avoid sun for next 1 month.

      @Ganapathi Devappa, Most welcome Sir and thank you very much for your feedback. Sunlight would be okay, leaves would get burn a bit but plants would survive. Only problem is, it's too difficult to save them during rainy season. Hope they do well in your garden, Good Luck :-)

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Před 4 lety +1

      @Suparna Bose, Thank you so much for the feedback, appreciate it. You can keep the Rhizomatous Begonia under net as it's hardy. I kept my Begonia in shade in Summer and then I repoted to the big pot in around January (which you saw in my other video) But, plz be careful for Wax Begonia. In rainy season, they die too fast and doesn't like too much water. It happened with me many times :-(

    Does this plant flower all seasons.. because my plant was blooming in winter now it’s not that’s y but it’s in shady area ...

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Před 4 lety

      @ramya jegannathan, No Ramya...bloom only in Winter - Spring. The Wax Begonia still blooms till around May-June in my place and then stop blooming as can't tolerate the heat. Rhizomatous Begonia bloom only once per year..and it starts to bloom from around February. In Summer, they need to be kept in shady area or else, leaves get burned. Thank you for watching the video :-)

    Is that white one also a begonia? Very nice. I have a doubt. My adeniums which I had brought online from Kolkata six months back is blooming but the buds are falling just before fully blooming. I am very sad to say that I had missed blooms of three plants. And now also all plants have buds. What to do. I had seen some small spiders sucking the stems and one of it fallen from centre of the stem. So daily I am watching the plants and destroy them. Also I am spraying neem oil in water but they are there every day. How can I save these buds. Can you please help me

    • @GardeningUpbeat
      @GardeningUpbeat  Před 4 lety +1

      @Soni Soni, I believe you are referring to the white pot? Yes, it's also a Begonia..Shrub Begonia :-) I would do video on it later but characteristics are almost same and so referred in the video. Sorry for your Adenium plant and I can understand how it feels when we lose buds on plants. Since you are able to see the spiders, it's the spider mites and Neem oil doesn't work too well against Spider mites :-(
      You can increase the dose of Neem oil a bit and see if it works. If you like, you can use Chemical pesticide as well. For example - Rogor or Roket. But due ti lockdown, it won't be possible now. Some other easy alternatives - 1. Mix 1 tsp Detergent in 1 liter water and spray the plants 2. Garlic + Chilly pest - 1 big garlic and take 5-6 chilies. Make a past and keep them in a glass of water for 30-45 minutes. Mix them in 500 ml water and spray the plants. It should work as it works well against mealybugs. Try once and I would be glad if any works for you. Anyway, plz let me know. Thank you :-)
