Several years ago, I used to fly a lot for work...scores of times. A couple of years after I quit flying so much, I cleaned out my wallet and found a credit card knife that I forgot about. TSA never once stopped me for it.

Agree, When my Boss and I would travel to foreign countries, mostly around Asia. we would both carry a decent amount of cash on us in the currency of where we were going, as well as some USD. We did for the exact reason if we had to buy our way out of trouble. Me and my other associates had a pact where if one of us got into some kind of trouble the others would split off so they could come back later to get us out of trouble.
If you take much money, they will confiscate it and accuse you of being a drug dealer. There is a video of a man with a small trucking company who was going to fly to a truck auction in a distant state. He had 40K cash with him to spend on a used truck. The auction company required new customers to pay with cash. He had a nightmare getting it back!
Rumor is marzipan will also get the bag/suitcase searched because the density is similar to a certain explosive compound. Now we know their sensors have a density factor, so if we tweak the density of our stuff, it can slide on through. (Always follow the law wherever you go.)

ONE TIME, nearly a DECADE ago i had a few springs from a firearm in the bottom of a backpack, the TSA searched my bag because I had a TENS unit. Electronic Muscle massager in the bag. They dumped all of my carry on bags out. when I told them the tens unit was in this particular pocket of the backpack. they searched the entire bag and then some..... eventually they find a spring attached to a plastic trigger. All Hell broke loose. The supervisor came over threatening to have me arrested by local law enforcement. I saw through this veiled threat. My wife was the sales manager for a gun manufacturer at the time. I was like by all means call local LEO. They likely know who I am and why I am using that laptop to Put that spring and trigger set into CAD. your harassing me when they will likely let me go..... They called my Bluff, the Local LEO actually knew who I was. TSA at that airport Still hates me to this day..

Your silver should be in some sort of protection container, as every time touch silver, the silver absorb oils from your skin. Which discolours the silver over time and makes it worth less.(only matters if your collecting I guess)
