So we have built an infrastructure that provides explosive fluids that anybody with a driver's license can use all over the US. Like every 20 miles there is an explosive fuel dispenser for nearly anyone to use. But you say it is crazy, or impossible to build an infrastructure for charging electric cars. I'm not saying we should or should not do this, I'm saying it is silly to think that it can not be done and be done effectively. I suppose you would rather have a carbureted engine with nearly no suspension, glass that breaks and kills people, and no seat belts. Yeah that problem could never be fixed right? I love your shows generally but you're showing your grandpa age by yelling "get off my lawn" whenever you see something unfamiliar.
I get it, electric cars are hyped. All cars are hyped and outdated. That doesn't mean we can not create something better, nor do we need to go back to 60's technology.

Electric cars are about as good as they will ever be. Electric motors are up to 90% efficient, inverters are up to 85% efficient, drag coefficients are more than 75% efficient and at the practical edge of
reasonable limitations, gear boxes... the same. And cars weigh "X", be that 1 ton or 2.
Suggesting that Electric car tech is 5% of what it will be in 10-20 years just doesn't make sense. That means everything has to be 20X better.
It is a physical impossibility to take something that is 90% efficient and make it 20X better. It's a physical impossibility to take a drag coefficient of 0.25 and make it 20X better. The same with inverters.
The mindset that EV's are at the same point of evolution as the Model T Ford was 100 years ago couldn't be more wrong. All of the technology that goes into the critical functions of EV's is drawn from 150 years of automotive, electrical and industrial developments. Those developments have plateaued.

Lot of people quick to hate on EVs or fanboy over EVs in these comments
EVs have less moving parts and induction motors that are incredibly reliable and efficient. Regenerative braking also recaptures energy that would otherwise be converted into heat. So less brake wear. No tailpipe emissions which makes air cleaner in residential areas at least. EVs have genuine plusses
The big negative to EVs is the battery technology not meeting the high standards for energy density, longevity, safety, and refueling time found with ICE. The infrastructure for refueling is still in its infancy. It’s being pushed hard on people and people are understandably weary and bothered. Maintenance on high voltage car systems needs a whole new level of technicians and mechanics to be trained to work on them at risk of death by electrocution. Even the promise of EV’s being green is with the big asterisk that most electricity generated on earth is generated by fossil fuels (incredibly dependent on where you live and local energy generation sources though).
So there are legit reasons to push back on EV’s… or at least not be a huge fan of them being pushed on society so hard. I think Scotty doesn’t root against EV’s, he consistently seems to point out the flaws though and that’s fair

Really it only works in areas people don't constantly use them which is fine as EVs only use these chargers for a quick top up or on road trips. The advantage of charging at home is not needing as much of this infrastructure.

If you needed road trips that badly, well then maybe an EV wasn't for you. Nothing wrong with vehicles for specific lifestyles.
