No sure what your grinder set up is (belts or wheels) but my only tip is to watch your heat when your grinding the blades. If they get to hot you’ll ruin the heat treat of the blade. Make sure they are staying under 350*. Other than that congratulations on the new business. Great idea. God bless

I remember back when I was a kid, had a guy we took our blades too. What a unorganized mess he had. I think he charged like $5.00 a blade back in the 80’s/90’s. I have a regular toro self propelled lawn mower and I think the blades are like $25 or less for new. I get a new one every year and just clean up the old blades and rotate them out. Cost effective for me. But I think your business is a great idea. Good luck with it!

Just tried out this service for the first time and love it! Great job, the blades look fantastic and the process was quick! The only frustration I had is with removing the wax. Maybe you have a good tip to remove it easier? I used a flat head screw driver, and it took more time than I hoped for as I could not remove it all in one piece. Everything else was a breeze!
Pete, Have you ever heard of CBN diamond wheels.....they are great in the woodworking industry due to their ability to keep the steel cool and maintain hardness...good luck with the new business.

Where did you get that wax dip thing at? That’s awesome for sharp stuff!
I was always taught that Mower Blades don't need to be razor sharp to properly cut grass. Also that if the edge was too sharp it was more susceptible to chipping away and getting dings. That you want the edge to have a bit of thickness to it. Is this true? I myself would always try and get them as sharp as possible.

What type of machine do you use to sharpen blades
Hey Pete, is there really a market for this, in my area a new set of blades is about 26 dollars, if i sent u my blades it wld cost more to ship them back and forth to my location than to just buy new ones or have my local power equip store do it, curious on your thoughts
That topic was covered the 1st video he put out. Some people will use his service. I could see it being useful for me if it was an in person drop off and pick up but someone has to pay shipping. He'd go out of business fast if he didn't charge shipping. I myself sharpen my own dozens of blades regularly but if I lived closer to his business he'd probably be my go to guy so I wouldn't have to worry about it. But it will definitely come down to the individual is it cost effective to sharpen or buy new. But even those need to be touched up 1st.
Yes sir. There is a market based on the orders we get. This service is not for everyone. It’s only for those who do not want to fool with sharpening their own blades. If you use a local service please continue to support their business.

I really don't think balancing is that important. It would have to be super out of balance to do any kind of damage. Just using your mower causes the blade to get out of balance. Uneven wear and grass build up. I guess there's no reason not to balance it, but I just don't think it's that important.

I like the idea but the prices are just too high imo. My local and I think most people's local lawn shop can do them for 7-10 bux a blade. They can also get them back in 1 day.
3 blades Sharpened for 45 bucks plus we have to ship it. You can get a new set of blades for that price. Good idea, way too expensive.
@seanm990 I agree with you them not coming balanced new. I have an rbg712 and balancer and make sure they are perfect before putting them on my Mowers. But who the heck is going to buy a new $70 set of blades, then send them to Pete for another $70 to sharpen them. It's non sense.
