- We got burned in a trade deal- Ike traded a diesel boat engine for a decent 110cc Honda 3 wheeler and this clapped out yard kart with a Predator 212 that we're calling the Silver Shadow. This cheap yard kart is ROUGH- the rear axle is booger welded on, the brakes don't work, the front end is caved in, the steering is about to fall out, and the Predator 212's carburetor is frozen and full of debris. In today's episode of CarsandCameras, we revamp the Silver Shadow, and take it for a very fast hot lap around the CarsandCameras Grand Prix!

stretch the frame 6" , Redo the front Spindles with coil springs and put big wide soft tires in the rear. don't widen the frame, maybe widen front axle. Did this to our Yerfdog

Wow, yes glad no one got hurt. In slow motion Charles was never afraid, he was watching is phone and trying to get a accurate time for John. That is a friend in deed. Maybe Charles had a lot of confidence in John’s driving skills. My story is John was always in control. Right John ? You guys are great that’s all I can say. Stay safe gentleman.

I just ran across EFI for 2 strokes and it hit me like a ton of bricks. EFI the Bombardier and....... turbo it!
Scary looking flying through the woods. Maybe you could put up some kind of walls against the trees in the worst parts. Mount some heavy sheet metal to the trees to bounce off of hopefully. Not really sure if it'd be better or worse though.

That is a Ken-Bar, S465 Streaker. I'm rebuilding one just like it.
Talking about "The worlds smallest crosscart" reminds me I want to see an independent suspension crosscart powered by a predator, smaller than the 660cc.
Cars and Cameras have already made similar builds, and they are my favorite because of the inherent limitations.
Reminds me of that kid that shows up with the "ratty" cart that rips!

I've built a kart just with the old trail 70 motor . advice add a oil cooler and fan heat is a big enemy. Also put one on minibike and made it into a trike it was so fun.litte dangerous but fun.i built so many thing out the old 50-125 motors and learned how to swap part between them to add performance now this was in the early 90s before all these off companys made performance part wish still had that stuff .keep up great work and stay safe.

Hey guys. After a few years watching y’all. I pulled the trigger. Got a tillitson 212 and stage one kit. I put it in a mini Moto 80/105 with front suspension. I dialed in the chain and took it for a spin in my small parking lot tonight. Omg. Uncontrolled power. And I set the throttle screw to nothing. I’ll keep you posted 😁
Man John is a good dude.. It really seem like it affected him knowing he was close to hitting Charles..
I personally met him at busco beach and he was extremely nice and genuinely seemed to care about meeting me as well. They are the same people on and off camera. Awesome people.
I get the vibe that John is the manager, Isaac is the employee and Charles is the intern.
I've seen him (John) throw down some stuff that GD-it had better get done right. I think heads can roll in that place but they're all so close to the same page that it's just not a thing.
@@InsideOfMyOwnMind nah..im sure John knows that without Isaac the show would struggle heavily but at the same time John's production skills are top notch and really add a layer professional touch. Charles is like the perfect addition, he is humble, funny and works hard; you can tell there is love with this group. It's awesome to watch... the real question is how long will it last..these things never work forever, so enjoy it now.

If you alter the timing of the intake valve so it stays open on the compression stroke up to half way and then it closes, you get about the some power but you use half the fuel, and you get a cooler engine.

I have an old Stryker type cart like that...with a predator and a torque converter on it and bigger rear tires (to widen stance for stability) It is absolutely a blast to drive because it MOVES.

Also, have you guys thought about fitting a kart with one of them forward-neutral-reverse transmission boxes? Bought one myself earlier for a slow-burner reverse-trike project (with Lifan 7Hp 212cc & CVT), would love to see one being put through its' paces, only ever seen Mustie1 use one on his Beaver floaty thing... :)
They actually did put such a gearbox on one of their old(er) gokarts; I think it was the Subaru Yerf Dog or Pugly
@@Sithhy Yes, they put one on the "Pugly" Gokart, they had to do a few mods because of the frame around the motor.

Having raced WKA back in the 80's, I would suggest neck braces considering the speeds y'all are running. Losing control and hitting one of those trees could be ugly. This has been a public service announcement from the "Wheel Horse Guy!" Lol!

Aguyin Nc.... I raced NGKA in the 1960s, and the WKA in the early/mid 80s as well. Would Love to go back to Kart Racing and all the products of the 1960s, especially.... along with the same prices, on today's budget. lol
Had the same happen with the nut on my axel on the shaft...i ended up drilling a hole in the shaft and using a pin and washers....easy fix and been great since and I drive the hell out of it with no issues...and much easier to remove wheels too...did the same with all 4 wheels
if you put a pallet rack in the new shop and use a forklift or a palletstacker you probably be able to put all the cars and camera gocarts and stuff intoo about 1/4th of the space you would need normally stacked all the way up to the ceiling , might make a nice backdrop for the channel too

Good video guys, fun is worth the boat motor imo. I think these kind of resurrections are cool to watch. Just remember the gas pedal is an analog device, not an on/off switch, lol!
Had a tie rod separate on my cart and went over a curb and down a sand hill as a result. I changed over to a rack and pinion when I fixed that problem and it was a VERY good upgrade. Unlike that stupid steering that isn't remotely linear.
You could also have just used a nut splitter, and re tapped the shaft, maybe to a different diameter thread, but whatever, it's all well that ends well.
Your vids bring back memories I haven't thought about in 50 years.
It would be nice to figure out how to get rid of at least some of that under steer. That almost more than bordered on dangerous.

That's exactly what I was thinking. The red predator motors came on different power equipment cause I've also seen them on some of the older hydraulic wood splitters from harbor freight.
Of course its fast it has a stage5 weight reduction kit on it
