My step Daughter is a vet tech and also got trained on the job! With everything you said about where you were working like
      -you liked your bosses
-they let you be you and not change
      -they were understanding
It might be worth talking to them and seeing if they would be willing to train you on site since you left on good terms. I think if they allow onsite training or allow you to do simple vet tech things while you go to school if that is necessary that could be an easy way in! I’m excited for this new adventure in ur life what ever that might be!!!! Keep doing you girl. I love you- ur content and have enjoyed ur videos! I like how ur eye makeup came out!

@@BreeAnn823it probably varies and depends on the practice. Like TECHNICALLY in the human medical field you cannot scrub surgeries without being a nurse or a CST, but times are desperate and there’s people who learned on the job.

I saw my daughter go through something similar as she worked for two veterinarians. When she came home in tears after the office manager bitched her out in front of clients and her co-workers, she decided she'd had enough. Hugs to you for listening to yourself, and taking care of your mental and physical health. You're so worth it! ❤

I feel you. I've worked front desk at my hotel where I live for almost 3 years, the pay isn't the best, but the atmosphere was so positive, the staff gets along, the GM was awsome, really laid back and let people be themselves, now we have new owners, the past months I've hated my Job, they changed everything, we have to be freaking serious robots, and so many changes and new rules. So now. Everyday I dread coming in to work. I'm currently tryna find somewhere else....

It's apparent this was the best thing for you right now, for your mental and physical health. I totally validate your decision, no matter what you ALWAYS have to put yourself first. Life is so short, like you said. Thanks for sharing with us. Whatever path you choose, the people you work for will be lucky to have you! I know exactly how you feel Bree. I used to work at petsmart as a dog bather and they made me do everything. I wasn’t working there long and I was just exhausted. I got bit in the face by a ladies pitbull cuz she didn’t know how to train it. I had another lady yell at me cuz I didn’t brush out her dog enough. People can be so rude and disrespectful. As someone who also works with dogs (dog trainer) I COMPLETELY understand burnout and the feeling of imposter syndrome. As much as I love working with dogs and I’m grateful to be able to make a living doing that, I’ve often contemplated leaving the dog industry and working a different type of job altogether to rediscover my passion again, as some days I just don’t feel as into it as I used to. I completely respect your perspective on wanting to make sure you give your dogs 100% of yourself and not wanting to give less, I think that’s very admirable. I hope the time away helps you to (re)discover your passions!

Whatever you decide, you will find the right thing! It’s so tricky trying to figure out what we want to do for the next 30-40 years of our lives. I’m also going through a career switch decision period and it’s definitely so scary after you’ve spent so much time working toward one path, but if you’re feeling this confident in your decision then you definitely did the right thing and can take this time to consider your options! And you’re not a loser for leaving, we have to do what’s right for us and sometimes a good thing isn’t good for us.

There is no need to beat yourself up. You did what you needed to do. I did animal care for 4 years at Cascades Humane Society in Jackson, MI and as much as I loved my job towards the end it became very taxing on my body as I was also juggling a retail job as well. I hated leaving behind the animals that I loved so dearly but at the time it was just too much. While it's been a struggle to find jobs since moving to Indiana and having the back and leg issues I have it hasn't been easy but I'm taking it day by day and enjoying some quality time to myself and being able to spend time with my fiance. I have loved your channel since I discovered it back when I was contemplating getting my nostril piercing. I love that you keep things real and authentic. You are truly an inspiration. Stay strong and power through. You've got this and things will fall into place when the time is right but right now you need what's best for you.
    Take care girl ✌️

I used to work with an animal rescue. We adopted out of a PetSmart. There were dogs and cats that we’d have to get groomed. So a couple of the groomers in the salon volunteered their time to train us in grooming them. We used to get dogs and cats that were badly abused and we used grooming to help them get used to human touch without being scared. I loved doing it for the animals we rescued. I still do it for some friends that foster animals because I know it helps them get good homes. The more positive human interactions they have, the better the outcome they have in the end. That said, I know I couldn’t do it as a career. I love animals. I love working with rescues. But even rescuers get burned out. I was actually offered a position at the PetSmart salon where we were all trained. I would’ve had full paid training. But as much as I enjoy working with animals, I couldn’t see myself doing it.

I'm going on 9 years of being a groomer and I can honestly say yes so much mental and emotional exhaustion. I've quit 4 years in for about a year and half because of burn out. Being a groomer is not a permanent job, so many health issues start up and so many mental problems that you have to deal with. I've made it very clear with my work how many dog I can take to keep me from getting overwhelmed. This kind of work is not for everyone for a long period.

Omg, that is so wild because I was the last semester to graduate college before Covid - December 2019 - and I literally could not find a job. My aunt was a dog groomer for years, and like a dr if she needed to do something against the owners wishes, if it helped the dog she’d do it despite what the owner wanted, and she even said owners when they neglect their dog and than the groomer makes it better - they act like you’re an idiot and that your job isn’t that hard. I would never get mad at anyone doing any kind of service that they know best at. Vets, groomers, doctors… if you went to school for it and I didn’t than why should I act like I know what’s best over the actual professional

I was a vet tech/holder and I left not that long ago because it was emotional and physically exhausting and demanding I was working 7 am-6pm 5 days a week and was only making $12 a hour.. I also got attacked by a cat and I had to get rabies series shots and I think that really messed me up with anxiety. Leaving honestly made me so happy and I got to spend more time with my daughter ❤

You have no idea how much hearing everything you said has helped me feel normal about what I'm going through! I was forced to leave a firefighting internship for reasons I couldn't control. I started it back in 2020 too. Having to leave it against my will felt like my identity was taken from me. The fire service is such a tight knit community so I felt I also lost my family and was abandoned. The whole situation had me questioning my entire life and future. What I least expected though was how much my mental health got better despite feeling like my entire world just crumbled around me. Being forced to leave opened my eyes to how used and taken advantage of I was. That department made my identity be the service, not myself. It was so toxic. It was abuse that was guised as an opportunity for a successful career. I won't let the situation push me out of the fire service. I can't give up my dream!
We will both get through this, I just know it. Manifestation! I can't wait to see what our future holds! Lots of love and support! ♡

You are stronger than you know. It definitely sounds like it was the right decision. Not everything we love is the best thing for us. Instead of repeating what everyone else has already said, have you considered a future in piercing? It’s something you love as a client. It takes a lot of knowledge and learning and you’d be helping people feel and be their most authentic selves. Just a thought. Best of luck to you. Oh and also, I’m in Canada, in a government job and piercings and tattoos are perfectly fine. So there are jobs out there that let you be you , just like this job let you. Keep being you! I completely understand where you are coming from. Groomer of 8 years here. I did go through this. I got burned out a few times. Through everything i decided to stay in the industry. I honestly cant see myself doing anything else. I went mobile and started my own business almost 3 years ago. My van is down right now but i love being able to choose what dogs i take and being able to give them all one on one attention and being able to charge accordingly for being a luxury service. I have been grooming since I was 19 and I am 28. I still feel imposter syndrome and take things clients say personally sometimes. It is stressful sometimes but I am still passionate about grooming. I have piercings and tattoos also and I used to work at a school with elementary students. Luckily I found a work from home job that some what pays ok but it isn't as great. I left various of jobs because of the hostile and unsafe environment. There were too many code reds nearby where the schools I've worked were on lockdown. Staff arguing with one another etc. With the piercings and tattoos maybe they were trying to protect you from the animals accidentally bumping or licking your face just in case a pathogen enters the piercings and infect it. I have piercings and tattoos also and worked around various of age groups. I am just lucky no one pulled on the ones on my ears lol. Once I felt like I had enough I just left the job and searched for online work where I feel safe and comfortable. So comfortable that I can even plan times to actually go out and walk a bit in nature for relaxation. Best of luck to you BreeAnn. I am sure you will find something along the way that will bring on less anxiety. What about Rover?

Dog Trainer here: I totally get imposter syndrome. I originally entered the dog industry as a trainer and absolutely LOVED it even though my original intent was to be a Veterinarian. After a year of training and being accepted into my first clinic, I was SO EXCITED. My first month there, I can't begin to tell you how much it BROKE me. Coworkers and the doctor yelling at me in front of clients cause I was new and didn't know everything in 3 weeks (mind you they expected me to learn restraint when I had never done so in 3 weeks- especially with 90 pound and up dogs) emotional trauma of seeing how people leave their animals, I can't begin to tell you how many days I went home crying. My last straw is I had a perfectly healthy cat die in my arms in a surgery. I was so hard on myself and thought "how did I fuck up?" But I decided then, that I would take on dog training professionally and I absolutely LOVE IT. What I'm trying to say, is even though it may have not worked out how you wanted to, there always is a light at the end of the tunnel. Keep going. Wherever life takes you, I'm sure you will KILL IT❤

I remember my ex-best friend going for a vet tech school to be a vet assistant but she did mostly for her own dogs (her family together have a lot of dogs and apparently now some cats too) but at the time more of her passion was in the cars.
I’ve never had this click with something that I’d want to do my entire life and have a good pay for it, I wanted to find this amazing thing that would be also my hobby and a day job because that was how I could see me actually being excited about going to work every day for most of my life.
And my first dream career unfortunately wasn’t possible at the time in my country so there was no studies for it but man the passion was like fire. And then I realized I wouldn’t be as good because I absolutely have no brain ability to do math or anything that involves math (been wondering if that’s some learning disability or something) and that put out my next passion of a dream job as that too would heavily rely on math ability.
So then I was lost for a few years feeling worthless waste of space and time yet I was so fiercely invested in my hobbies (photography and writing being my most passion) and for a long time I wished to be a writer (blame it on JKR & HP because that was my entire childhood and adolescence years) and I wanted to also be a photographer (the only creative outlet I felt I might be natural at and I constantly looked around me seeing photography inspos and just few years ago I decided to do some of my favorite video side-timelapses- and that has led to another world of passions for me).
I did land a near decade long job that I actually adored as a job itself. It was right up my alley of ability and allowed some space for creativity and that’s when I finally could lay into some of that passion and gain some confidence. Certain people did bring my spirits down during that time but I also found more hobbies and I guess I’ve always been a bit of a “enjoy the little things” kinda person as that’s how I survived.
And so many things happened in that time there I felt like an entire lifetime. Unfortunately while I loved the place and my newly discovered bestie and some other people I did feel that burnout that came from few especially nasty people and the everglowing doom of knowing it’s not gonna last much longer due to the fact covid only slowed down the imminent digitalization process which already had diminished my work amount so it was the fear of loosing the stability I’ve been fighting hard to keep. And I wasn’t willing to look for another job as it’s debilitating for my mental state but also I knew sooner or later it’s gonna happen and I’ll be out there once more and hopefully my time there held enough of experience to find something similar if not better.
I can’t imagine ever having a life where I’d just walk to a place and ask for a job and then just be able to learn it and do very well. Having language barrier in my own country where I was born has always weighed heavily on me especially since it’s of a times under control of the next big powerful country willing to step over bodies to gain power so speaking that nation’s language has never appealed to me especially when it’s not a constitutionally appointed to anyone here, merely a laziness of most people who grew up under the oppression era and ignorant mindset of those from the country of that old power.
So I had a lot of issues and jobseeking has never been wanted action however two years ago it finally happened and I was the first to leave my tiny office. And then the job itself became unnecessary to exist and everyone else left too. I spent a year in daze and struggling to find the next thing but it didn’t come but at the same time I showed up for my best friend and her closest and then I just got a month long class for specific accounting software that opened my eyes to some of the things I didn’t realize before and dropped out of the unemployment program that was more anxiety triggering (and I mean it’s not okay to have severe anxiety and panic attack every time walking up to 1mile of the building knowing the grilling to come and absolutely zero compassion for people coming there for help finding their next job) so I floated a bit more until one day an ad popped up where it wasn’t there day before nor all those months since becoming unemployed (which I believe was meant to be all the time) and now it’s been almost 8 months in this job I love so much, I’ve gained some new skills and discovered I actually have some knack for languages and that somehow it turns out there’s more capacity to my brain hard drives and for some reason my ram is much larger than I expected it to be so I’ve been helping my fellows as I’ve picked up stuff quite impressively fast (and previously it took me almost 4 months to learn of those it was probably 2 months of actually doing it under tutelage of a colleague) and it’s opened up some realizations I’ve never had before.
And so it’s about time my contract runs out soon, our project is almost over and I’ve met some truly nice people and I love it’s so close to home yet far enough for me to take a bus or bike ride or just a walk. I’ve taken liking to early morning magic again and now with summer approaching it’s stronger again.
However I did jump and apply for a permanent position in the company and will need to do language training. I did feel some mental burnout or I thought it was that but now I’m not sure if that wasn’t just the seasonal depression or just me struggling with open office and change of work hours (after so many years of night shifts and generally being the night owl it took some adjustment but getting home after 5pm and being home in way less than hour and occasionally even under 30mins is a good deal) so will see how this goes. I hope to stay and if I can have at least one of my current coworkers also join in is just so much better. I’m not as antisocial as I feel and if I feel comfortable being silly me around people then imma take that and open up. Social anxiety is always gonna be there but if I’m doing well it’s fine.
So whoever reads this I hope this story helps. And know that somehow manifestations do happen even if they’re kinda in passing cause these two jobs so far have been a passing thought of me just thinking “oh I wonder how that kind of job would feel like” or “I wonder how such modern work environment looks like” and here I am.
So it can happen and to some it will. Also “everything happens for a reason” still runs through me as much as “things will happen at the right time and right place the way you need” because this job apparently came to me when and where I needed and I’m grateful it did.
So have the greatest time no matter what and enjoy the little things in life ❤

I love animals soooo so much. Especially dogs. That’s why I could never work in the animal field. I would be so depressed and upset and angry all the time. Whether that be in a vets office, a groomer, an animal shelter, etc. I would literally be calling the police on people for animal abuse/neglect all the time. It would make me hate humanity even more than I already do

I'm a vet assistant for almost two years, when you learn it's totally different from when you're going hands on, it's pretty much starting from the beginning all over again, I think it's like that with every job that has to do with animals, in the beginning you think you are the worst in everything, It's a massive hit when you start the "hands on experience". It's very hard to understand for people who didn't work with animals, I relate to your experience in so many ways.

People who don't get that shouldn't be pet owners. I completely understand why you would be burnt out. as a groomer of about 10 years it is the most EXHAUSTING thing mentally and physically and ppl truly will never understand that unless they try it themselves. i am currently going through one of the worst burn outs, but i am hoping to change that soon. U are really right about the 2 types of ppl in grooming, the naturals where it just clicks and then the ones that gotta put a little more work in. we always said that at my shop around 3/4 months is usually when it clicks for the person. getting started like that for ur career is a real bummer cause im sure if you had more guidance and training through school it wouldn't of been so rough. thats why i usually never recommend schools like that and instead go to petsmart or petco and go through their training, they have the BEST way to get your foot in the door for grooming. im sorry your going through this but you are SO amazing and strong and its important to take care of yourself and thats exactly what you are doing ! i sometime wish i never stumbled upon grooming cause it really is so stressful, but at the same time i love it so i completely understand where you are coming from ! 🖤

Well the school I was going to had a full on in person building where I'd be there Mon-Fri 8am-4pm with full hands on experience with real dogs and teachers. But covid ruined that business and they shut down completely. So it would've been a good school to go to. Petsmart and Petco have way too many "rules" and things that aren't allowed and I am not down with that. Like no 7F blades, no 40 blades in the pads, no muzzles or groomers helpers. I would never want to be restricted like that.

    • @MommyHibana
      @MommyHibana Před měsícem

@@BreeAnn823 while petsmart does have restrictions most of them aren’t too crazy mostly just safety stuff and they would never make you work 6 days a week, that’s why i say it’s best to use it to get into the grooming world since they send you to an academy to learn and even after academy you continue learning at your store. Also unsure about the info about the 7 blade and groomers helper cause we were able to use both, and was encouraged to use the groomers helper, and i believe petco you can only use a groomers helper. but working for corporate is never fun i’d only stay long enough for the training and to get comfortable with grooming and then find a private salon to work for or rent out a table.

I just would like to put this out there - I own a mini golden doodle and she has very curly hair - people dont realize how much work goes into their fur !!! I have to brush her every night no exceptions!!! When I first got her she got matted and my groomer shaved her it was a shock to see when I picked her up , but I knew it was my fault not the groomers . I actually asked for help they showed me how to line brush my doodle so that this wouldn’t happen again . We’ve been good ever since but I know that if I dont do my part she will be shaved down period ! It’s not your groomers fault it’s yours . I certainly didn’t call my groomer names or argue about this . They are not going to stand there and brush your dog raw ! That’s inhumane so they shave them ! If you can’t commit don’t bother getting a dog at all !!!! 16:58

It's so sad to see the entire industry go downhill but it really has due to unqualified people being hired as groomers. The burnout is REAL. I was also doing 6 days for multiple months and even 7 days for 3 weeks in December. My boss was greedy and didn't care about anything other than money. The environment and personalities in hospitals can be difficult don't get me wrong but don't give up! Once you get the hang of it everything can roll off your back and all the animals around you make all the BS around you not even matter.

We also don't kennel pups so we see them all one on one and that's the only way i can successfully groom pups. If theres any part of you that still loves it, id say dont let it go! Chances are its the structure rather than the actual job. Ive worked corporate grooming where theres a million dogs to groom and only an X amount of time to get them done. At least you didn't quit your job because of a horrible boss, or bad management, or any of those sorts of things. But I'd say that, in some ways, burn out is much worse. You've got this part of yourself wondering what's going wrong when nothing is, and if one already has issues with Imposter Syndrome, burn out only winds up making it more severe.
I think you did the right thing, regardless of what's going on in the economy right now. It's ridiculous that we should all have to put our self care on backburners around the inability of the corrupted few in power to run things properly (and that's as political as I'll get). I don't know that there ever would have been a 'right time' to quit, so it might as well have been now, yes? Life is short, as you observed, and it's way too short to strangle your soul for a paycheck.
I hope you find somewhere that you'll not only be more content in, but a place that will also let you just be yourself.
