Interesting on the "baritone" tuning.... I skipped the 7 string and went to an 8 string. Started on an Agile Chiral Parallax and just purchased a used Strandberg Boden Standard NX8. I still try to avoid batteries in my guitars (bad experiences earlier in my guitar journey....) I'm still getting used to the Endure Neck, but it really isn't a hinderance....just a different feel. I'm enjoying all of the different sounds with their passive pickups and the 5 way switch with the different coil slpit combos. It's Great!
Bought an Essential six string a week ago and love it.
Ergonomics and weight means it perfect for noodling in front of tv sitting on a sofa.
It’s shocking how well they sit in your lap without wobbling as you reach over and adjust your DAW or plugin.
That thing is SICK! I honestly would never have considered a headless guitar if it wasn't for your enthusiasm for them, Phil... totally sold me on them... and my first is likely to be delivered in the next month or so... so thanks again for the GAS (you were there when I ordered it)... but this thing... IS COOL! That neck for a 7 string makes a lot of sense... just killer looking guitar! Looks weird but strangely like it's really comfortable to play... and sounds pretty NOICE, too! Thanks for another GAS giving video... can't get better than Larry Mitchell chatting from Europe during the show... he must have been up after one of his shows there... in Paris I think? Right on! Larry is the coolest! Great tip on the baritone tuning trick too! Love it! Rock On, man!
🤘😎🎸🐦
Is this the Prog version with the Fishman Fluence Modern pickups? Thanks!
Completely agree on the Indonesian factory. After getting a pro setup, my G&L ASAT Tribute plays way above its price. I owned a Cort fretless 5 string bass years ago that also played way above its price.
I honestly like the way they make their Indonesian instruments more than the American ones. You get more variety, and the neck shapes feel better.
I don't like push-pull pots for this reason. They create a "default" position with the down, since it would feel a little weird if you kept it pulled up all the time. That makes you use the up position less often than you might otherwise.
I have a guitar with push pull and I leave the pots pulled.
I have one and it's amazing. Gonna grab a 6 soon
I've never understood why although everything about Strandbergs is supposed to be about ergonomics, they don't make every model a neck-through or set-through.
The heel is contoured. It’s quite comfortable. I recommend trying it out.
In general, there are other great bolt-ons with nicely contoured heels.
@@thisguy2973 I know. But, for the astronomical prices of these imports, it shouldn't be neck-through.
@@newgunguy4176 Well, workers aren’t free. Sorry.
@@thisguy2973 They can still be priced accordingly. Many guitars are more affordable and workers also get paid.
I think you mixed them up
Master Volume w/ push-pull for Split Coil
Master Tone w/ push-pull for Voice 1/2
I can’t retrain myself to stop playing thumb-over style chords all over the neck. I’m wondering how weird that neck would feel. I’ll have to try one sometime just to see.
I've tried a 6 string, and it felt foreign at first, but it didn't hinder thumb chords. If anything, it improves thumb reach since there is less neck in the way. Of course, thumb chords are not ergonomic to begin with, so you are losing some of the physical health benefits of the neck profile. Also, a lot will depend on the physical characteristics or your hand and your own playing style. If you get a chance to spend an hour with a Strandberg, I highly recommend it. That is the best way to find out! Personally, I loved the feel, but I want to try a 7 string before purchasing. I am finding 7 string guitars in general to be the optimal match for my hands.
Play an endura neck for 30 mins and it won't bother you UNLESS you really want to hang your thumb over the fretboard
I tried a wonky fret version a year ago.....now they bring out a normal guitar! Guess I'm trying another....
Are they simply pricing themselves out of the market?
I can buy an Ormsby for half that price and yes you don’t get that funky neck (which I’m super intrigued with) however, you can’t tell me it’s a $2000 aud better instrument!
Having said that I really want one ha ha
Saweet! 💚
Would the neck be uncomfortable for someone who plays mostly with their thumb on top of the neck?
In my opinion it feels better. It gives you a nice “shelf” to rest your thumb on. Cheers 🔥
6 strings are too much for me 😂 . I can't get used to the look of guitars with no headstocks . I love the fact it's light , but the aesthetic just doesn't appeal to me .
Richlite is extremely similar to good ole Formica.
Does it split like Ebony?
