    awesome video! everyone is gonna have different opinions on portal vs no portal, I always favored the scx10ii over the trx4 but that was just me. The center of gravity can be negated by running on a different chassis such as the Mofo Ugly chassis as seen in pics on the website where it is even lower than a stock scx24, plus the added 70grams of brass will deffinetly help offset the raise in height. Thank you again for the honest video and opinion! Plus you forgot to mention the 25% gear reduction from the mofo portals :)

      @2fmrc  Před 2 lety +5

      Yeah I’m hoping to get some run time in and do more of an in depth vid about them. I think the gear reduction really makes them stand out over other options. As well as being brass and adding that weight that’s needed down low!

    The long awaited MOFO portals are here. That said, exactly what are the advantages, clearance and low weight distribution. Contrary, pricey, lack of renewable bearings and raising the CG of my expensive carbon LCG chassis setup.
    Since my only rig is 4WS, $$$$shock ensues!
    I crawl rocks, no trail so the advantages may not be obvious to me.
    Major complaint is the lack of Liam!

      @2fmrc  Před 2 lety +2

      @@MofoRC yeah I would agree. Not to mention the brass upgrade part with your portals. Just buying a set of brass steering knuckles is $20-25 of that and your set comes with them. Definitely worth the price imo if looking for portals.

    • @2fmrc

      It also takes a good amount of work to make the panda portals work on the scx24. The MofoRC portals are the best bang for the buck imo. Already brass so no need for future upgrades. Question: I have a Jeep with slingers and a deadbolt with patagonias on it. Everything else basically same between the two. Deadbolt is way more stable, Jeep tips super easy sidewalling and any little grab flips it over backwards. Would portals help?

    • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  Před 2 lety +1

      Not really. I’d say the Jeep body & the slingers are a lot of the reason it tips easily. Much more weight up high than the deadbolt & larger tires. The extra weight down low from the brass on the portals would possibly help but I honestly would just add brass and maybe wheel weights to the Jeep as is. Sounds like it just needs some weight down low to offset the body & it sitting a little higher due to the slingers. The portals actually raise the center of gravity on these and I’m not a big fan of that myself. It can be offset with more weight down low but it’s really personal preference. Portals can be good but they can also really hurt performance. I have a 1/10 truck with portals that is basically set up the exact same as one without and the one without will climb basically anything better than the portal rig. But it hangs up from time to time and you gotta deal with that so it really comes down to preference as far as the portals go.

      @@2fmrc hey thanks for the answer, makes sense. Everything up front is basically brass at this point but the axles (doesn’t seem worth the $$). I honestly installed them on a truck I need we run and haven’t had a ton of time with them. I honestly didn’t think portals on these were as great as I thought they would be. • @2fmrc
      @2fmrc  Před 2 lety

      Yes or switch your throttle direction on your transmitter depending what transmitter you’re using. With the extra gear of the portals it reverses the throttle.

    • @FailedSquare
      @FailedSquare Před 2 lety +1

      portals are gonna be all 4 or nothing. The way the gearing works you need to reverse the motor either on your radio or by reversing the motor polarity at your ESC. You cant have portals on just the front and not the rear unfortunately. If someone made a set of chain or belt drive portals that could work but at this scale i dont think its possible.
