Seeing Steve struggle give me chills in trying even for bronze😂
I got bronze on day 1 and that was tough. I'm scared to see how far I've been pushed back
@@boigercat I did a 1:20, just over the time required for bronze😂 hoping that's good enough until the time expires
@boigercat Just did it right now I am tired ngl. somehow I managed Silver, don't ask me how😅. Maybe I will post the result
@@theronseegobin8661 that should be enough to keep you in 😀
@Itz_Radu Very nice! I'm sitting at 17.814 I should probably try close that gap but the suffering is real haha
You are a great driver Steve! This is my 21st day of work in a row and this was a much needed break from reality. Cheers on the great lap!
Damn, 21 days in a row. That is some commitment. Glad I can bring some entertainment to you mate 🤝
21 Savage
How is that even legal? What the hell?
@sebastianahrens2385 it's perfectly legal, in my state at least. That's just my day job, which is operating heavy equipment for around 60-70 hours a week, then I work another 30-40 at my own business, which is a tuning/performance shop. I enjoy it very much to be honest!
Please take this piece of advice take really good care of yourself working that much ... a severe burnout turned my world on its head
Some of these time trials are a pain.
Absolutely. This one was mega frustrating. I just couldn't get that chicane right!!!
Yeah, I struggled even getting bronze lol
Especially those with road cars that drive like the Titanic on an ice rink.
@@Super_GTIf you’re struggling the average casual player has no hope
@@Super_GThow could you find the braking points just from the first lap? Where you sort of guessing by having used other similar cars?
You rock Mr. Albon
almost started screaming at the screen wanting him to stop turning into that chicane so early
Me to, he rushes the entries of corners and loses time from apex to exit gathering things up, which loses time all the way to the next corner. Then he repeats the process all over again.
Was thinking the exact same thing
Some very specific corner muscle memory trapping him in some kind of racing ground hog day
@@ChunkyLover69420 Can say from experience with ACC that it's very difficult to break that muscle memory without a LOT of practice time trying to actively unlearn the muscle memory that's screwing you over
And then you jump into a different car that handles differently and you have to repeat the process all over again hahaahahAHAHWHSHAWSDWHDHDS
About to comment the same thing, you beat me by 18 hours. I agree with you on that, should follow that black tire mark there.
Unbelievable Scenes. Unforgettable Maneuvers.
I have a lot of trouble on Atlanta, it's nice to see someone who's so much more skilled than me struggle with the same spots. I also had no idea you could chase other people's ghosts; so, I'm going to go do that! Great job, Steve! Thanks for the video.
Chasing ghost makes you fast. I got top 3k in one trial by chasing ghost. I'm usually with in the top 6k just by chasing ghost.
I normally get bored of watching cirquit/time trial races pretty quick, but something about your voice and your speech in general just makes it so captivating and enjoyable
If he doesn't make it as a racing driver (and I'm quite sure he will), he'll make a great color commentator one day.
Great job documenting that struggle that everyone experiences in racing games. It's just us crazy folk that keep going back because that's the part we love. :)
I love your genuine commentary and critique of your driving. This is a pleasure to watch and learn.
I love and enjoy your Porsche videos a lot. They put a smile on my face while watching. Truly, Steve, you are a great content creator. Keep doing more and more great videos for more and more people to enjoy your stuff.
Just got a g29 about a week ago. 1st time with a wheel. Just bearly got into the high 16s so far. Good driving Steve.
I‘m half a second slower with controller. Can live with that.
Phew! I'm glad I wasn't the only one that had trouble at first - car's an absolute boat when you've got any power down. Hated it first couple of laps then grew to kind of appreciate it's little quirks - changing gear at the right moment really key!
Some of the trials it is really hard to see where the last magic second could've come from. For this one I think it is much clearer. From the video you made you could almost comprise a set of clips that would be almost 1 sec faster with the obvious low points being the chicane and last corner. Thanks for the entertaining videos as always
To me you're one of the best sim racer I know, Steve. And seeing that even you struggle, makes me be more kind to myself when I do driving mistakes. But what amazes me the most is your perseverance, you never give up. Pardon my English if I made mistakes, I'm not totally fluent yet. Greetings from Belgium 🇧🇪
Watching Steve is such a pleasant change to my Forza Horizon 5 multiplayer experience.
Every decent lap time seems to be based on how many rammers you can avoid, along with learning how to drive any sort of car on what can only be described as tracks made of ice
Ahhhh I literallly checked your channel yesterday to see if you’d uploaded a video on this that I missed.
Boy this one was rough for me my first session. Keen to go back now after this vid.
Much love good sir ❤
How do you found this channel?
Albon’s youtube content gets better and better everytime
Steve, thanks for giving a drive for this time trial. At first, I was having a hard time driving the Porsche 918 at Atlanta. After finally found out how the car perform or the limit of the car & the rhythm of the car through corners, it was so satisfying when done it right. I've manage to get a gold for this time trial. Thanks😊.
The delightful voice of Mr.Albon and the expression of frustration.its wonderful. Good Night everyone.
Thanks for confirming not only for me this was PAIN.
I realized now that I've been watching super GT for so long and I've never taken the time to just say thanks for making the content. I just make jewelry for my job and it's tedious, but having Super playing the background really helps. No homo, man I love you. I don't care much for racing, but your humor and drive (get it) to be better are addictive. Wishing you the most success in this holiday season.
Seeing you struggle makes me feel so much better about getting a 1:20
I've been playing gt7 for a good week now and after 3 painful days of trying I finally achived 1:16:151. And seeing Super GT "struggle" on this TT, makes me even more proud of my self for getting the gold medal.
I’m grateful to see you struggle on this one Steve, I think I am just short of Silver and had to give up in frustration. I usually get Silver and on occasion a gold, but this one is frustrating. I do drive in VR and wonder if this is a disadvantage or might it be that I am approaching 56 yo and just don’t react fast enough 😢
Back to the grind for silver… well done on the top 300 👍
I'm not only impressed by the time you got, but by the patience you have.
I got into the 15's and thought i was completely on my limit, and this video has just made me realise i wasn't using the battery in my attempts 😂
So long as you have any, it'll use it automatically.
Hey Steve,
Keep up the great work!
Love ur videos and commantary.
Question:
Can u set some rivals times on forza? So i can learn from ur ghost 😜
This is the most difficult time trial I got silver which is good for me.
I love this track so much man
When i tried to get top 10 in the world at the Nordschleife back in the day, i didn't use ghosts at all, as they were more distracting than helpful most of the time...
I found that it was more helpful to only have my focus on the current lap, and only looking at a ghost if i felt i was REALLY stuck, with no ideas on how to go quicker!
i literally don’t play gt cause im on xbox but something about watching steve play gt for a few years now never gets old lmaoo
Hello Steve nice vid as always, i think you should do the featured rivals race (basically time trial of Forza) it is really fun
What I learned in this video is to efficiently cutting entries as much as possible to have a faster exit without going outside the limit. Great thing to learn.
You made me feel good about my 1:15.5 that took me 10 attempts. My curse is having no patience to get to the 1:15.2 range, you know you have it in you from your splits but "Drive one lap without ballsing up a corner" is harder than it sounds!
Your VO at 1:25 reminded me of Jason Statham in Snatch 😂
I almost cried while going for this. I’m on controller and it was horrible😂
Congrats on the points today m8
Hah, I know the pain 😅 I got a 15.2 relatively early, but knew from the individual sector times that there was more time to be gained and I struggled to get into the 1:14s. I spent a lot of time at this TT and I'm now down to a 14.6 - but still 2 tenths possible according to the sector bests. So I will go until the very end
GT7 has beautiful grass, thanks for showing it off.
The GOAT CornedBeefPasty making an appearance, love to see it. Hope you're doing well, Steve! Love watching the channel grow :).
15:42 - that moment in gaming when you've tried to beat something really hard and you just snap at one point.
I was thinking Steve, that maybe you should be driving a riding lawnmower 😂.
Great video 🎉
I know it's frustrating, but I absolutely LOVE watching people time trial. The result of hard work and persistence will pay off.
Surprisingly competitive time trial. I'd love to see you try out TVR for road cars if they're in the game
He’s scarier when he is angry because of how joyful he sounds in the narration
This time trial was horrible. Much worse than the civic at suzuka. My 1: 16.150 took way too much pain 😭. These time trial videos are always great to watch and a good reminder that im not the only one who rages over these time trials. Great content as always
Every-time I watch replays of the best times, I realize I have a lot to improve on.
I feel that in the chicane you turn in a bit too early. As you could've seen in both of these ghosts, they can carry more speed out of it thanks to turning in later and having better lineup for the next turn.
In the chicane you are turning in to hit the apex too soon, hence not having the best exit speed coming out of it. If you stay to the right side of the race track longer and turn into the chicane later you will get more in lign with the apexes and have a better exit speed! I love your videos and I am nothing close to your level, but I think this will help 😂
You're looking for "chicane." Also you can edit comments using the 3 dots on the right of the comment! Not sure where it is on mobile. Take care!
@@8thlvlMage thank you very much!
the meeting with spectator hill, you have murdered me
I found this one a lot more fun than the recent Maserati MC20 TT, the brakes on that were so useless and it was like driving a ocean liner.
Lets not forget that this is Michelin.
They expect perfection.
Even aspiring chefs take a long time getting a *.
Just like how they expect Perfection from Steve in this time trail.
Video suggestion: can you do a demonstration of just how much faster you can go in GT7 using manual gears vs automatic?
Maybe you do 50 laps on the next time trial in auto, then switch over to manual and see the difference.
Keep up the great content!
Drive the samabus around Australia the AI has no idea what gear to select to power it up the hill 🤣 it's around 30 seconds slower.
On France it's around 2-3s slower, at my best I can probably hit a 1:20s on MT using a pad, the wheel guys doing 1:19s, alot of it has to do with the momenteum you carry downhill if you hug the final turn you can do 45+mph & 54mph over the line, downhill the first corner if you slot it right you can carry 60+mph riding the blue/yellow rumble strip you can loose up to 1.5s on the next uphill section if you only carry 58mph.
I kept pulling my hair out looking at you braking while turning and turning in so early into the chicane
Having tried this one myself, trying to keep the car on the track during that downhill turn right before the starting line was the most difficult!
Such an entertaining video
11:40 Yep, the time trial line is often not exactly the same as the racing line, since the line you do during the race is always a compromise between speed and consistency.
So I've been wondering if its actually bad practice to rely on muscle memory for time trials, especially if you have a lot of racing experience, since it would make it more difficult to switch to a new driving style when needed.
Is it better to improve your learning process or to focus on the individual challenge? It's like asking if a generalist or specialist is better in the long term.
This tested my patience. And the strength of my wall…..
2.5 mile track. 144 miles on clock, means about 100 attempts
How'd you get to 100? 144/2.5 is 57.6. and I know he didn't complete every single lap he did, just wondering how you got to 100
@@defnotatrollmaybe they were assuming there were an equal-ish number of restarts partway through the lap
This looked advanced compared to the GT class. I ponder how many have actually driven on the physical track. Interesting trial :-)
Oh my mate WHEELSTAND was 2 ahead of Steve. Great laps guys!
That car is a handful to keep on track
I don't feel so bad that I just missed out on Gold. If I'd put more time in and chased more ghosts, I might have gotten there, but I ended up with a 3.15% time, 1:16.355, twisting my DualSense from the couch. This one was tough!
I got gold at like 1:16.215 and was shocked lol i think this was was all about getting enough rotation for the 918's power to not be wasted by its understeer
I managed a 1:15.136 (good enough for p120 I think) but I definitely think this was one of the hardest TT I've done.
GG Steve 💪💪
Thank you nor the vid, the advice. ✌️
Could you compare the difficulty with this time trial and the one quite a few months ago with the Honda NSX on the Nurburgring?
I wonder what your thoughts are on comparing those two time trial events.
My suggestion would be to treat the 918 like a Kart. Not having the maximum grip in the corners, but sliding a bit so you straighten the car for the next corner and exit.
This is nothing like a kart, I'd say more like driving a boat and I'm not kidding
Karts stop on a dime, they're super twitchy and have the same levels of grip as an f1 car just scaled down
The silent rage is deadly
Seeing the challenge and the prize : I should try that ! Seeing Steve struggle : maybe its not for me anyway.
spent 4 hours yesterday to get gold, glad to see that maybe I'm not that bad
I'm getting on again next week. This TA looks pretty tricky XD
I found overall the chicane was better turning in later than you think sets you up better for the run out.
Very similar experience for me, but not nearly as quick as you. Took me around a thousand miles to get a gold by 0.002. Had an optimum of 15.9 but I couldnt string it together.
Any idea why the ghost times seem so randomly selected as to what you can watch?
i can relate to going straight into a wall on purpose when i cant do a good lap
GOtta brush up hard on your driving skills man, good luck and dont give up.
Did you ever try hitting the beginning of the kerb on the last turn instead of going too wide? It looks like it has a slight bank and can help slingshot the car out of the corner.
I managed to get gold fairly quickly on this one. If you're not shooting for the top 300 you can just brake early (earlier than that), focus on hitting the apex and you'll be able to build towards the gold in a reasonable amount of time.
que crack seba piñera jugando a la play 14:23
Feels like ice
i did a few cool down laps to recharge the hybrid.
in my last session i did 50+ Laps although about 35 laps where fast ones
Oh steve😂😂 i just come here for motorsport content but sometimes you are just the joker the part were your lap got cancelled at the finish line just turned me up😂😂😂😂😂
I usually just go for gold cause i dont have the pace to be at the top so 1,500th or 400th is kinda the same, but this time trial took waaaay longer. It took also so much more precision that after golding it it took me literally 3 tries of the suzuka TT and 2 of the Alsace one to get gold
"The retry button is being hit more than the apexes" 😆
i remember there being a bounty hunter mission on forza 7 set on this track with a lotus 2-eleven and trust me that was a slidey car
I feel like for quality of life, When doing time trials, at the start of every other lap you should get a full battery charge. Just so weird that you can only do 4 push laps and then have to reset your momentum.
really cool video
1:22 The very moment I was compelled to smash the "like" button & turn it to dust. 😆
You remind me of me doing GT4 licence tests. Just grind and grind.
There was a TT recently ended, that had some sort of Lambo, a Reventon or whatever it's called. That thing was so undriveable, I quit the TT before I'd even done an out lap. Give me my Gr.4 Italia, or my Gr.3 911 RSR, any day.
Hey Steve, since you have raced with actual cars , how well does GT7 simulate a real car , does any of your real-world experience help with GT7 , or do you have drive differently for the sim to get a good time ?
I'm not sure of his experience but in mine it has been quite similar real world experience translates well apart from different shifting points depending on the car. due to the clutch not being identical to a real world one.
I'm happy I'm not the only one who struggles at this track 😅
hey bro just a quick question do u think mclaren senna and mercedes amg 1 will be in the game
Could the problem for gt7 be it lacks of the physical engine for torque vectoring on stock car? Manufactures are actually using lots of electrical braking control to help car turning in
Tried this today, I 360ed in and out of the shadow realm in most corners before running into our old friend the Barry-er!
I was happy to hit bronze on my second lap. $500,000 credits. Thank you GT7😅
It was a fun car to drive for a Porsche. Reminded me of the Alpine A200 race car.
I thought I was the only one having problems with this car/track combo, but even Steve is taking the lawnmower line half the laps. Good to know it's not just me sucking so bad. We all suck together!
I managed to get a silver but the thing that bothers me so much about GT7 is that road cars feel so unbalanced with racing tires, especially softs. It legit felt like I was losing speed applying throttle over just trail braking or coasting through some corners!
