    I remember bowling shoes and badger shoes,vital shoes to wear to go with my two tone and to finish off my Vespa p200e,glory days back in the eighties ❤

    Eighties Mods in Sydney were mostly poor . We lived together in Inner Sydney but most came from the outer suburbs and remembered the church charity shops which in Oz are called Op Shops short for Opportunity. It was close enough in time for original 60s button down shirts , tops and suits to still be found on the rack. We conducted Op Shop raids in the suburbs 20 to 30 kms away, getting the five finger discount or switching price tags where possible or paying no more than $5 or $10 . Then we had our local tailor who knew the mod requirement to peg the pants to 12” bottoms, take them up to about 3” above the shoe line, take in the coats and convert from 2 to 3 buttons if necessary and narrow the lapels ….yes I know what you Mod boys want he would say !
    If you were lucky op shops had original 60s winkle pickers but brogues and loafers were still available in the shoe shops. Casually we wore ripple sole boots or Clark’s desert boots. Docs had to be obtained from England . Army surplus shops once common in Sydney CBD were the outlet for German fishtail parkas. Blue wind-cheaters were bought from department stores. Once again casually we wore red wooden jumpers and white socks in common with the rudies who hung around with

      Wow some great info there. A friend was a skinhead from Aus, she knew a lot of the 80s mods. In UK we was always in out of Charity shops. I still have many of the records !

    I’ve still got suits made Burton’s 63 64 65 I was a smart mod 3 button waist high vent ticket pkts 15 pound 20 pound danced on Ready Steady Go I’m in NZ when I got here stood out like a sore thumb
