    I'm really enjoying this idea. Fear is the number one thing that keeps people from asking or doing what they want. Fear of being judged or seen or ridiculed. Hank Green says that to overcome fear you have to create constantly. I think this rejection therapy is aiding you in suppressing fear really well so much that you can see the fun and learning experience in the small moment of "no" and big moments of "yes." I'm learning a lot! :D

    • @coltrane8802
      @coltrane8802 Před 7 lety +3

      Opatola Ismail Exactly, in this whole exercise he is 'looking for rejection'. It obviously doesn't have the same effect than a rejection in an important situation where you are looking for some degree of success. It is like if you were playing the final in some sport and you were looking to lose, it doesn't have any sense. You don't overcome the fear of rejection with regard to relevant things by exposing yourself to rejection related with irrelevant things. What you are 'treating' there is the fear to make yourself look ridiculous, but the fear to the pain of rejection associated with important thing is a completely different animal. But yeah, these kind of videos or TED talks are like the books of self-help: profitable, popular, but ineffective.

    • @nicklandreth2527

      It is a part of the desensitization process. If someone is afraid of spiders and you put a spider in their hand their own reaction may make the fear worse. If you show them a picture of a spider they can probably handle that. Then after looking at pictures for a while they may be able to hold one without freaking themselves out.
