This fight absolutely sucked. The Mindflayer has so much health, and those other guys don't. They got caught in the crossfire and died WAY too often. I eventually found a strategy in which I used Binding linked to Magnify so I could put the 2 dudes to sleep and focus on the mindflayer.
Have the swap HP and MP materia on one character. Have them with Magnify + Sleep Then Synergy Materia + Time Materia The 2 Ads will continue to sleep, then you can keep casting slow and stop. Then you other character can just focus on Main boss.
In this game you don't need to do that. You can start the fight with only one or two characters. You really only need the enfeeblement rings if you want to solo story mode bosses I guess.
The way i beat it is by using only ONE Character, set dificulty to easy. I used Tifa to Block to build up Limit break. Did whole cat n mouse chase around while taking as little dmg as possible n burning Limit Break on Mindflayer.
This fight is pretty easy with the right build. Use Aerith since her folio has skills that add more time to status effects. Put two little guys to sleep, then use a DPS to go ham on the mindflayer.
This challenge is BS, took a few tries on normal but I used a full team and used Barret to spam Focus Fire on the Mindflayer and let Cloud and either Tifa or Yuffie occupy the other targets. It boiled down to a race if I could finish off the MF before one of the other two targets died.
Good on you for doing this the real way. You could… Turn your teammates in the frogs in solo the big guy while the other to chase away your teammates never actually be able to detonate them selves.

I genuinely hated this fight. After 10+ tries I just set the game to easy and used Tifa solo.

my last resort maybe easy mode for the fucking enemy skill :( , just suffer through chocobo race and desert rush to get some dark matter
It's easy, just pump omnistrike with tifa

A lot of work for a move that can only be used once per battle and I always forget to use... It is a pretty great move though, good for trash mobs.

It was hard but can beatable after u put other two to sleep and make damage mind flayer as much as u can.
