Kingdom Monera includes Bacteria which most abundant micro-organisms. Bacteria live in extreme habitats like hot springs, deserts, snow and deep oceans.
Prokaryotes are bacteria which are unicellular and have no distinct nucleus. They have a naked DNA. Structure is simple but behavior is complex.
They show the most extensive metabolic diversity. Some of the bacteria are autotrophic i.e. they prepare their own food material from inorganic substances.
Vast majority of bacteria are heterotrophic i.e. they do not synthesize their own food but depend on other organisms or on dead organic matter for food.
