I knew nothing about tennis, one summer day (1990's) I turned on the TV and found Wimbledon . Eventually I understood the rules of the game. Since then I watched Wimbledon and the US Open every summer. Agassi, Samprass, Graf, Sabatini, great tennis to watch.
I'm still convinced that, on the men's side, that Wimbledon 2001 was the greatest Slam event ever. Roddick debuts and takes out a solid player in Thomas Johansson (who won the Aussie Open the following year), Barry Cowan almost upsets Sampras, Roger Federer announcing his arrival in beating Sampras, Henman barely beating Todd Martin, Greg Rusedski in the running, a second consecutive Agassi-Rafter classic semifinal, Ivanisevic taking down Henman... and oh yeah, the Monday final. Best major ever.
Everything that everyone else said. I was a loner teen but I had a “backboard” I made out of a brick wall of my house and I cut the grass super short in front of that area. I remember, summer 1998, really going at that wall for hours, with Wimbledon dreams of all that pomp, circumstance, and glory dancing around my head.
best part of wimbledon...when they show highlights of the match and this is playing ti gives me the goosebumps..it's an old song, but classy...just like "one shining moment" in the final four basketball
this is CLASSIC!!!! I remember the days of waking up early Sunday morning to watch Sampras and Agassi battle it out on Center Court... ahhhhhh!!!!! Yes!!!!!!!!
This music always had Venus in White with the Rosewater dish turning to all corners of the CC @ majestic Wimbledon waving to all four corners. Then Sunday Mornings this song sent us off nicely after Federer finished them all off. (Ha just now the vid showed Venus exactly as described)
This awesome theme that plays with the still photos of these tennis players make them as legendary as aristotle and plato. especially sampras and agassi.

It rained all day on the second Sunday that year (2001), so the men's final between Ivanisevic and Rafter was played on a Monday.
It actually rained on that Saturday so the ladies played their final on Sunday and the men on Monday.
This is classic and frankly it is just not a Wimbledon final unless this song closes it out!!!

The coda to this theme (minus three notes) was also used as the closing logo for CBS Sports from 1979-81.

this was a great Wimbledon, although heartbreaking for me as an Agassi fan having to watch him lose that gut-wrenching semifinal to Rafter
