Good insights. Carpe needs to direct again.Gripes about age yet ridley Scott at 81 never stops.
Ridley is 85 actually, makes his dedication to his craft even more impressive! However, I can perfectly understand John’s point of view on the matter, he clearly gets burnt out making movies, it’s the reason he stopped in the first place after all.
I can already tell watching this high will be awesome.
If John is inclined to have a swan song, I agree teaming up with Kurt Russell would be a good start to end his career on a high note.
I was laughing so hard when you were on about wheeling John Carpenter out in his Lay Z Boy with his Xbox attached 😂😂😂
Great Video Dave 👍👍😀
I would love for Carpenter to make a remake of Halloween like they did with psycho. Same dialog, still takes place in 78 haddonfield.
You know I heard somewhere that John always wanted to make Western films but never got the chance because Halloween kinda put him in a box. Maybe he should give it another shot!
There really isn't a standout werewolf movie.
Silver bullet and American werewolf in London are my top two. Both great films.
But to me, there is that top-tier stand-alone great werewolf movie. I would love to see Carpenter do a throwback 80's horror warewolf movie with practical effects.
Yes! I completely agree.
Wolfen?Wolf?:)
@ryangettig274 both decent movies. Wolfen has a great 80s vibe, and the kills are solid, but it's not really a werewolf...it's it's wolf.
And Wolf had a cool set up around him gaining his powers and changing but didn't have enough of him being a werewolf.
I'm really looking forward to checking out Suburban Screams, Dave. I think it might be good. These stories in this show are from different eras and, yes, it's true crime but something like this is what originally spawned the idea for Halloween. Halloween originated from the idea of what if evil came to the surburbs and John Carpenter has stated that numerous times throughout the years.
This could be a passion project of his that he's wanted to do for years now. It also could be what he needs to get the juices going inside of him once again to direct another feature film. I've read interviews with Mr.Carpenter in the past year where he's hinted that he might be interested in revisiting The Thing and doing a follow up to it. That would be something I'd really like to see.
I think that if he's gonna come back to directing, then it should be to revisit a story that he's already told like The Thing or Prince of Darkness or even The Fog. I think one of the reasons why it's taken him so long to come back and direct something again is because he couldn't take the disappointment if it failed like some of his other movies have failed in the past. That's why it's better to play it safe and revisit a story that's already been told but is worthy of a follow up. And Mr.Carpenter is more open to doing a sequel today than he was in the past.
That's why I'd like to see a sequel to Prince of Darkness or The Thing or The Fog. Prince of Darkness was originally supposed to be a trilogy anyways so he should come back and finish that story first before doing anything else. That idea that you had for Kurt Russell and John Carpenter getting back together sounded good too, Dave. But I don't think Kurt Russell would be interested in doing a horror movie at his age.
I think he enjoys writing movies now more than making them. Kurt Russell, I mean. But that idea you had sounded cool 🙂. You could even tweak it a little by making it about an urban legend in some town in northern California.
Maybe it's a town like Antonio Bay from The Fog? Kurt Russell is a writer who moves up to this small town in California and these murders start to occur that have a supernatural bent to them. Maybe the townspeople bring this urban legend to life through the fear they feel living in today's modern world? I think something like that would be cool to see.
I don't care if it's familiar. I would go to the theater to see it. But, once again, I don't think Kurt Russell would do it because, at his age, I really don't think he's all that interested in playing with monsters again. But I do admit that it would definitely be cool to see him and John Carpenter together again one last time.
Will it happen? Probably not but it would be cool to see definitely.
Cheers, Dave 🎃🍻
Would love to see a ufo mystery movie with Kurt Russell and carpenter directing.
Never say never but I just think that John doesn’t want to direct movies anymore. With directors like Clint Eastwood, Ridley Scott and Martin Scorsese… Yes, they’re up there in age, but they’ve been making movies all through out. They haven’t taken 10 plus year breaks.
wheres yer lights Dave? Must. Have. Blue. Light. hahahahahahahahahaha
I'd really like to see a JC with his mojo back, but he directed The Ward from his trailer (for the most part) and that was 13 years ago. I'd love for him to get a project, and wth Dean Cundy could use the work so reunite these guys for a project. Preferably horror.
Halloween.
If i was john i wouldnt want my last movie that stars amber heard lol , but am with dave! John & kurt am down🎃🍁🍂🎃
I'm burned out on most sequels but JC and Kurt Russell doing another Snake movie would be great. I think an older version of that character could work and make it darker like Escape from NY. I don't hate Escape from LA, but it did get too silly and less edgy.
I should break off a movie about Charlie Bowles
If he's not interested in putting the effort into filmmaking, why do you expect he can make a better film than The Ward? I'd like for him to help produce a Halloween video game.
I like the concept of it a lot. I like that John Carpenter is involved, and yes I would love to see him direct one more movie. One last hoorah.
That being said, I just don't think John Carpenter has any interest to continue filmmaking. He seems pretty happy just living his life.
But if is he going to do his swan song, Kurt Russell and even his son Wyatt would be a great final collaboration
I know he expressed how he wanted to direct a Dead Space movie. I think that would have been cool although it’s not gonna happen.
I like your idea Dave for sure. Have Kurt Russell Star in it. Use that exact idea but it’s a Halloween movie. It would be symbolic for Carpenter to have that be his swan song since it’s what made him 🎃
If JC and Kurt team up again… I hope it’s for another entry to the Escape series. “Return to New York: Origins of Snake Plissken” with Kurt’s son Wyatt Russel playing the younger version of Snake
Unlikely. Too big of a film. If he ever comes back, it's going to be for something small.
Carpe diem, Carpenter!
🎃
I want to see Carpenter make a movie about what happened to Jack Burton. Not a Big Trouble in Little China 2 but a brand new story.
DAMIEN LEONE, ESC!!!!!!!
Carpenter has been washed up for thirty five years now. I just don't think he has anything left in the tank nor does he care to find out.
Hush…was not great
In your opinion. I thought it was great! ;)
@@DaveMcRaeOfficial Flanagan saying it was his Halloween and he almost got to do Halloween. I know he only got as far as possibly having a “female loomis character” lots of issues with the new Halloween trilogy but we dodged a bullet by not having Flanagan do it.
@@DaveMcRaeOfficial sounds like you might enjoy hush more than Halloween 2018? Hard to compare I know
Hot take. He’s overrated anyway. 3 or 4 solid movies with the rest rating from meh to crap IMO. Halloween propped him up and it was a slow descent from there.
*descent
@@cherzo71 grammar police is on patrol I see.
Really? Halloween, The Thing, Christine, Assault on Precinct 13, They Live, Escape from NY, In the Mouth of Madness, Big Trouble in Little China and even Prince of Darkness was pretty interesting. Most directors wish they could have a run like he did in the 70s, 80s and even the 90s.
@@EddieHenderson92 I agree with a few, but to the general audience most of these would have a negative rating. In the bigger picture, I think he’s overrated. Halloween is my favorite horror movie of all time so don’t think I’m trying to hate.
He's not overrated but he is an old man who just doesn't care about it anymore
I did not like the trailer at all. Looked boring AF, and I’m not picky.
