He is an artist in every sense of the word. Dimash is 28 year old singer, song-writer, multi-instrumentalist from Kazakhstan. He also models, acts, and directs! He started singing since he was born but took voice lessons since he was 5. To me, he's a modern day Bach/Mozart/Pavarotti/Leonardo Da Vinci. He was classically trained but spans a lot of genres. Igor Krutoy un compositor ruso famoso en el mundo de la música por componer para grandes cantantes ya se había retirado pero al conocer a Dimash ya ha compuesto 14 canciones para Dimash.

Please watch his FIRST performance of this song "SOS" on the Chinese show "Singer" from 2017 where he was a contestant. He has 10 more performances from this show available to watch! Watch 2nd, 3rd and so on. He was 22 years old then. He is now 28 and has done so many things since. He is a world renowned vocalist. You cannot call Dimash just a singer. He has an 8 octive range. You will see. Dimash has been known to sing in 12 different languages. Watch everything he has done. He also has a lot of pop songs in English such as "Fly Away", "Screaming" and "Be With Me". 👉This song is Dimash’s calling card. That is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (That is what Dimash calls us fans.)
The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and in 2017 made Dimash a mega-star overnight.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
The competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to CZcams ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

There are videoclips showing him singing and practicing the song year after year (far from perfect in the beginning 😅) until he won the prestigious award Grand Prix in the competition of Slavic Bazaar in Belarus in 2015. In 2017 Dimash participated in the competition "I Am a sInger" for established, professional Chinese singers. As a foreigner, he wasn't actually allowed to compete, but they bent the rules a bit. Dimash was the first one to sing and open the new season. His SOS shocked the audience (who were also the judges) and the TV watchers (several hundreds of millions) and became a megastar in China overnight. Next day he had a huge fanbase in China. Hey! Great reaction! What's so crazy about Dimash is that, as amazing as he was on this song, you only saw a fraction of what he can do here. His range is ludicrous, he sings in so many styles, so many languages, plays instruments, etc. With a lot of singers, they bring out their entire bag of tricks on every song because that's all they can do. Dimash can do so many different things, he couldn't put them all in one song. I always tell people you have to watch at least 4 or 5 Dimash performances before you really start to understand the depth and breadth of his abilities. Each one you watch, you'll think, "Okay, I get it... I've seen what he can do." And then you watch the next performance and he does something new and surprising. I've never seen anyone like him.
And the extra crazy part is that he just keeps improving. He works seemingly non-stop on his voice and craft - dude is obsessed with it - and you can tell. In his performances from 2017 and 2018, people were saying he might be the best singer on the planet (and certainly one of the most technically proficient). And he's done nothing but level up since then. Dimash is a beast.
For a next reaction... man, there are so many choices. If you want to see Dimash singing in more of his classical/operatic mode with a lot of rich, deep notes and super crazy high notes, try this performance of "Olimpico." czcams.com/video/dkPS6t84qg4/video.html The song was written for Dimash by famous Russian composer, Igor Krutoy, who basically came out of retirement because he heard Dimash's voice and wanted to write music for him to sing. He wrote "Olimpico" for Dimash to sing at the opening of the Second European Games and, in the song, Dimash portrays Zeus telling the athletes (and us) to remember that we're strong, we're stronger than our troubles, the world needs us, so go out and do what you were born to do. He sings it in Italian but if you turn on the CC and set it to auto-translate to English, it's actually pretty close to spot-on. Either way, it's a big, dramatic, inspiring song and, by the end, you'll believe that Dimash is not human. "Olimpico" is one of my favorites from Dimash.
Most of these performances I've suggested are from several years ago. If you want to see what Dimash is doing now, I think you would really love "Stranger." czcams.com/video/lFsB5HVnmSA/video.html A quick heads-up though: A lot of reactors are having copyright issues with Dimash's newer songs and "Stranger" is definitely one that gets blocked a lot. Most reactors have discovered that you can get around the block by dimming the video of the performance or putting some sort of texture or text over the top of it before you upload. It's a small bit of extra hassle for you on the editing side but, tbh, it's such a good performance, it's totally worth it. And we've all seen the video, so we're watching for your reaction anyway, not to see the actual video again. Point being, don't let the little extra hurdle you have to jump over to react to "Stranger" dissuade you from checking it out. It's really, really good.
