I still use Berkeley big game mono for a lot of situations and it gets the job done

In dark or dirty water Mono is fine because visibility is low anyways. Clear water, it's time for Fluorocarbon. If I need a line to float, then it's Mono. Fluoro isn't as "invisible" as many claim it is, but it does have less stretch than Mono.
