He was born as Ronan Patrick John Keating in Dublin, Ireland, the youngest of five children. In 1993 he auditioned for a new boyband and was later selected along with Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately, Michael Graham and Shane Lynch and formed the group Boyzone. Ronan was the youngest member of this group. After they played in clubs and bars they were signed to a record deal and released their first single in 1994. Their 2nd single "Love Me For A Reason" reached #2 in the UK Single Charts. In 1995 they released their debut album "Said And Done" - the lp reached #1 in Ireland and the UK. The album was certified triple platinum in the UK. In 1996 they released their album "A Different Beat" and got worldwide attention - the album sold over 2 million times worldwide and reached #1 in the UK. The single "Words" became their first #1 in the UK Single Charts. In 1997 they appeared at the ESC in their hometown Dublin. In 1998 they released their 3rd album "Where We Belong" - it topped the album charts in the UK, as well as in Ireland, Netherlands and New Zealand. It was certified 5x platinum in the UK and 2 released singles reached #1 in the UK Single Charts. In 1999 they released their first greatest hits album "By Request" including 2 new singles that reached #1. In 2000 they decided to take time off to work on solo projects.
Ronan Keating had released a single "When You Say Nothing At All" in 1999 when he was still a member of Boyzone. The single reached #1 in the UK and Ireland. In 2000 he released his first solo album "Ronan" and topped the UK and Norway album charts. The next single Life Is A Rollercoaster also reached #1 in the UK. In 2002 he released his 2nd album "Destination" - his first #1 in Germany, as well as another charttopper in the UK. The single "When Tomorrow Never Comes" became his 3rd and final #1 in the UK. In 2003 and 2006 he released 2 more albums before he reunited with Boyzone in 2008.
Their comeback-single "Love You Anyway" reached #5 in the UK and #3 in Ireland. 2009 their member Stephen Gately suddenly passed away. In 2010 they released their first album since 1999 - a tribute album for Gately with the name "Brother". It topped the UK album charts and became their final #1 in the country. 3 more albums followed in 2013, 2014 and 2018. Meanwhile Ronan released also some solo albums. His next one was advertised for May this year.
