  • In this golf lesson with fellow Milo Lines Golf Academy coach, Henry Fall, we discuss why he often gets a high handle at impact.
    ⛽️🔥 Milo’s Favorite Drill to COMPRESS the Golf Ball: milolinesgolf.com/compress
    This resulted in some heel strikes, blocks and pushes, and occasional hooks and over draws. To stop the raising of the shaft, we looked and not only was his body was doing (moving into the ball), but also the club face and right hand grip matchup. End result was a lower handle at impact. Hope you enjoy this lesson!

    Very nice lesson guys, loved it. Now for a lesson from me. When you leave a long row of divots like you did here, and you start another row right next to it, please leave at least 2 inches of grass between the rows so that the grass will grow back much faster and not take 1-2 months to grow back. Thank you, greenskeeper will love it too!

  • @HolyGrailOfGolf

    What I like most is his divot pattern. One long strip instead of 20 random divots. If only everyone learned to do this we'd be able to hit off grass ranges much more often.
    Milo, you never mention the D plane. Raising the handle changes the D plane and most people have no idea what that is, which is probably why you never mention it.
    I have one suggestion that I'd like to see - have Henry attempt to swing with the face wide open through impact as if he was only going to glance the inside edge of the ball with his normal grip. It can't be done, at least not at full speed, but it allows the clubface to close naturally through the engineering and physics of the club instead of by manual manipulation.
    One final question: was Henry a slicer in his early golf career? I'm only speculating but he seems to have an unconscious fear of the ball going right, at least in this video, (which I'm not sure isn't just a scripted setup, either way it's great content.) He's an elite player and I do like the fact that he's getting a lesson. Everyone can improve and it's so hard to coach yourself.

    I have made significant progress recently with more dynamic pressure shifts and the right amount of left bend and right bend. But my results were consistently left, and I tried the adjustment with the handle Henry made. This tells me to weaken my grip and check position at the top to not be too shut when rotating correctly. Great advice.

    Hi Milo in order not to raise the handle at impact at the start of my downswing I do a karate chop to my ball with the heel pad of my trail hand. It maximizes the lag of my club head to the ball is a cool feeling to boot. Cheers

    Great video, Milo! Thank you so much. But could you explain to me what you mean by "more radial" at P2? You mean the left wrist more radial, right? So the clubface aims more toward the sky and is not that shut at P2?

    Hey Milo, I have this exact problem and have for years now. My biggest concern is that, the weaker my grip gets, the more my body sub consciously makes my left wrist go into flexion at the top of my swing. It’s completely reversed, the weaker grip that I have, the more shut my face is at the top. Do you have any idea that could help?

  • @patrickhoward4080
    @patrickhoward4080 Před rokem

    I do this so bad…on a track man I’m like 8 degrees toe down. I struggle with pull hooks when I get to doing this pretty bad. I have to try to hit a fade just to hit is straight. When you lift the handle with a stent grip it shuts the face even more at impact. It sucks. Hard to kick. I got away from Interlock grip also as it for me was closing the face too much also. Went to a vardin grip and weakened grip to more nuetral…but it is so hard to get used to and strike the ball pure. Hate offset irons too…makes it worse for me.

I hand back 80 percent of the time really struggle to get club square to open at top though at waist high I’m toe up…

  • @aleksilepisto7282
    @aleksilepisto7282 Před rokem

    Definitely, if you watch how Rory hits balls he’s got a uo backswing and when he comes down he’s almost getting the heel into the ground first. It’s like a chop but with low hands. Very powerful but you have to time it, or play with a more vertical lie angle.
    The opposite would be like a guy who raises the handle through impact or has a lot of face rotation through the ball.
    Rory used to sling it a lot more than he does now. Really interesting.
    Also the lie really impacts how smoothly the club goes through the turf. Toe down really tends to grab and drag a lot more and feels kinda horrible.

      In relation to their wrist conditions and grip, it's not nearly as closed as the matchup Henry had here. Understanding and aligning the matchups is the crucial part.

    • @MiloLinesGolf

    • @MiloLinesGolf

  • @rangepro
    @rangepro Před rokem

    When you set up on one shaft plane and then hit it on another shaft plane you have to STAND UP to make room to hit it. My conclusion would be to learn to set up and hit it on the same shaft plane, meaning that his hands and his space to the ball in not correct! Example> a carpenter does not take the hammer back and lay it off to return it to the nail, he simple takes it away and returns it on the same plane, same with squaring an axe on a tree, or a hockey player with a hockey stick!

  • @pohoresky
    @pohoresky Před 2 lety

    I think saying "stop raising the handle at impact" is misleading if only because you can raise the handle by lifting the club upwards without changing the angle of the shaft to the ground. What you really mean to say is "stop raising the angle of the shaft to the ground at impact" . If anything you want the angle of the shaft to the ground to start moving lower at impact as you come around.through impact.

    • @MiloLinesGolf
      @MiloLinesGolf  Před 2 lety

      Lots of ways to raise the handle. In this case it’s with early extension and tilt to prevent the pull draw

    • @pohoresky
      @pohoresky Před 2 lety

      @@MiloLinesGolf Yes there may be many ways to raise the handle, but in any case the angle of the shaft to the ground would change accordingly and that was the point I was making you did not explicitly acknowledge.
