Today we'll be exploring every single easter egg found in Dead Island 2. We really packed so many references in the game that it's almost hard to remember them all. One I do remember that isn't on this list is I added a bloodied whiteboard on the balcony of Farouk's mansion during the mission where you're collecting the Gods & Whiskey master tapes. This is in reference to Dawn of the Dead (2004) where a zombified Andy picks up and waves a bloodsmeared whiteboard to the survivors in the mall.
One of my favourite zombie movies of all time, so I couldn't resist!

I'll give you another one: For decades, artists make reference to an old-school 3D art forum called Polycount by sneaking in the forum's mascot, Greentooth, into their games. You can find Greentooth hidden around in all sorts of titles, with a Polycount thread being dedicated to a number of sightings.
I snuck Greentooth in on the crate that Dani climbs out of in the intro cinematic. It's a bit compressed and hard to see, but it's there!
It's a mystery how there hasn't been a video about the hidden greentooths in videogames! 😄

All these Easter eggs and they couldn't even add the tiniest reference to the guy running in the original trailer which made this game iconic even before it was made

The closest to a reference to him is on the Venice beach I believe, they got signs saying you can’t do pretty much everything he was seen doing in the trailer (even down to wearing headphones, which the sign says ya can’t) Could just be reaching tho bc i was really looking for a nod to it lol
There's some screamers that do look like the girl that was attacked and mauled in the trailer

The SUNSET BUS logo ," We'll get you to your Final Destination." may be a reference to the Final Destination movies.

At the beginning of the game, after the plane crash, you can notice a corpse that is on its knees, and burning debris in front of it. In the trailer of Spec Ops The Line there was a similar scene where Martin Walker was on his knees, and in front of him was a burning Burj Khalifa skyscraper.
Plus, if we take into account the fact that the game was first developed by Yager, then this can be counted as an Easter egg.
Definitely interesting if it is a reference...
Dude, the suiciders in the first game always said help me when they were right behind the doors that needed a breaching animation and it confused tf outta me when I was younger hearing it for the first time!!
The Ocean Avenue map also saying "We Will Get You to Your Final Destination" is 100% a reference to the Final Destination movies! Hell, the "final" movie of the series involved the cast being on a bus!

When you kill the clown Butcho you get an achievement that says: but doctor, I'm Butcho. is a reference to the Pagliacci clown joke told by Rorschach in the film Watchman

one more thing that's very hard to notice. the rock star guy Rikky you talk to asks you to look for his producer Farouk and if you can't find him, look for his boyfriend. that may be a reference to Freddie Mercury who's real name was Farouk, who was also a rock star with a boyfriend lol

One of the NPCs in the Blue Crab says " hey, phrasing" during a dialogue bit. I choose to believe it's in reference to a running gag from FX's cartoon, Archer.
Not even going to mention the Excalibur easer egg on the Santa Monica map if you go to the very end of the pier (the end that leads to land) you'll fine a broadsword stuck in the head of a "stone" statue

On the Easter egg on the cop car door is a reference from the Simpsons on a treehouse of horror episode when Bart and Lisa get stuck inside the tv, glad to see the devs are fans of the Simpsons
The achievement “Mostly armless” is a reference to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (in the Guide, Earth is described as “mostly harmless”)

Fantastic video mate, it's Get to the Chopper made me chuckle as the only person I have ever heard say that was Big Arnold.
The Burster isn't just creepy for talking coherently, but a Lost & Found quest reveals a guy named Rainier, being imprisoned for being bit. He talks to you normally, makes you think he's another "Numen" and asks you to help him get out. After fighting through zombies and getting the key to his prison. Once you open the door, you end up fighting a Burster. Inside his prison is a note, saying he's hearing voices and seemingly going insane. On the contrary, the truth is: if you don't pass Konradt's test to become a Numen, you will become a Burster, instead.
It makes your character shudder at the thought as this could have been THEIR fate. Very creepy.
I got 2 more foe you. The other pinball machine is a reference to the 90s windows computer game, "3D Pinball Space Cadet". And
The DELTER toolbox you see in the game is a reference to the real life tool company DEWALT. I know both of those because I'm a fabricator/welder who grew up In the 90s lol.
I know one creepy and disturbing "easter egg" of sorts and that the long pork restaurant in the venice beach area long pork in the nickname given to human flesh which is a great yet disturbing touch to a zombie game.
Pretty sure one of the Legendary Swords is the Kurgans sword from Highlander. It also crits head shots and states there can be only one

Bursters also say “run” and “sorry”, basically telling you to run from them and sorry when they get close showing they are basically locked in and have no control over their motor functioning other than being able to say a few things.
In one of the Lost and Found Journals, Rav and Dez talk about a boy genius turned billionaire inventor by the name of Toby Shark. That sounds an awful lot like Tony Stark to me 😂.

Ok, so at 49:56 in the movie RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD, there is this odd zombie moan heard in the cemetery just as the teens gather close in the rain as they run into it. I swear I heard that same moan at times in the game! I finished it and have little desire to roam around trying to listen for it but it'd be cool if the developers actually used this as an Easter egg in a game chock full of Easter eggs! I must admit, this game was quite scary! I played it immersed in the sounds with the help of my decent sound system....very effective for knowing from which direction those brain munchers were attacking from! I especially hated having to run through the mall to get to the metal box you had to climb to get to the 3rd SAFE area! Usually always had a runner on my tail who'd manage to nip me just before I'd hop up over the metal crate! A great game throughout!
I just noticed the art behind the arcade games 3:09 is the exact same as Iris’ art in the well at Haus, where the zombie head is spewing weird symbols. I think these were hints at SoLA all along!
When you meet Amanda Styles for the first, she say something along the lines: “Hey Super Fan, don’t worry, I only bite on the third date”
By her third side quest for stardom, she ends up turning into a zombie and tries to bite you

There’s one Side mission called Missing: Nadia where just before you encounter Nadia your character will say “You have 30 Seconds to say your goodbyes, I’m coming to get you” which I think is an Easter Egg of Big Brother UK winner Nadia as the presenter when leaving the house will say “you have 30 seconds to say your goodbyes I’m coming to get you”

In the life guard tower on Venice beach the the map that w.o.rodriguez looks at it says operation done Kirk which is a reference to operation Dunkirk for ww2

I forget at what point he says this, but Jacob at one point says "Zulu don't surf". (I believe he says this at some point on venice beach or possibly during the Hero sidequest) One of his many references in his dialogue. Which is natural since IIRC his pre zompocalypse profession was a stunt man.

God we need a new timesplitters game. They are just so damn good and would be cool to see with some of the new ideas in the fps genre implemented into the series.
Out of all the content from Dead Rising 2, they chose to reference the damn mailman boss fight. I grew up with that game and recognized it immediately, but it’s so random and obscure. Out of everything from that series, they chose a random mailman.
You missed the achievement "I got a zombie army and you can't harm me". That is a direct quote from Sam B's hit song, Who Do You Voodoo?

- There is also a restaurant on Venice Beach called Long Pork Cafe(?) or something like that. It's slang for human flesh because real life cannibals have said that human flesh tastes like pork
- In the tunnel, the drawings are probably references to the urban legend of shadow people and/or sleep paralysis demons. There is also a drawing that is vaguely similar to the Babadook's silhouette.
- The spider at Monarch Studios is most likely a reference to the movie Eight Legged Freaks.
- The Star Haul trucks seen around is a reference to the UHaul moving trucks
