Sailing to France in a Skip... almost! | Skip Boat Build ep3

- Having tested the Ashville Skip Boat 'Rita' in a marina and engineered stability additions it's time to push her out into the open sea.
We launch into the English Channel at Dover, push the Skip Boat to the limits and do some intense turns with a bit of 'site seeing' before returning to dock.

You need to create “Skipfeast” and get the other companies like yours to create there own and do a charity event. You could have speed trials, obstacles courses using floating markers and maybe the best looking skip boat 🤔
Unfortunately in the building industry, competing companies generally aren't friendly towards one another.
For it's first proper sea trial..... Skipboat Rita handled it like a pro. Great video Daniel, loved it.

Great Video and idea! Just an idea from my maritime experience, to get more speed try getting a long shaft outboard with more HP that way if the prop is under the boat you get alot more drive and stability as the water flow is alot better. Keep the great videos coming 🤙

DANIEL! As someone with a boat license myself, you’re missing one essential for any extended day at sea… SPEAKERS! Trust me on this one, if you’re gonna be on the water for a while, you wannna be able to beat tune!! It gets a bit monotonous otherwise hahaha (I’d also consider more power but I wouldn’t call it essential, it’d just speed up the crossing hahha

That was sick ballast in the front more shelter and stability for the channel for sure just make it more robust I guess and add navigation lights for sure

Captain Daniel rules the waves with Rita!😊 Happy to see you having so much fun, as knew you could achieve your aim, but still couldn’t help feeling worried for your safety and that of your passenger. Lights plus bigger engine to suffice crossing would be good additions; VHF Radio too, and there is also an Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon, which transmits the location of the boat to emergency responders and can summon help quickly regardless of a boater’s location-would hope escort boat again on voyage to avoid that need😊🚤

This video was by far the best. This project must have made you so proud from seeing it all the way throgh to completion. At first i was very sceptical but seeing the way you had thought this through and the time you invested while juggling other important work committments is testament to your work ethic and the strong workforce you have. It made me think, is there anything you cant do? I cant think of anything that can top this.

You stayed within the Harbour breakwater for this test, so have not ridden any waves yet to speak of. Last time I sailed into/out of Dover was 2000 for The Dunkirk Little Ships Return to Dunkirk, while in Dover Marina the fleet was inspected by Prince Philip. In Dunkirk we were inspected by Prince Charles, now our King.
