Out of all the members of bts, jhopes album is the one that i will always play on repeat. Like his songs are so good, and the meanings really resonate with me

Loved the whole album. He danced to all these songs on his docu-series on Prime Video. J Hope is so talented .. he should do more vocals, they are so good. Also, referring to dancing, locking's definition is freezing from a fast movement and "locking" in a certain position, holding that position for a short while and then continuing at the same speed as before. It relies on fast and distinct arm and hand movements combined with more relaxed hips and legs.

Lock/unlock is my fav. Benny is a producer and also did backgrounds and Nile Rodger is an iconic guitarist. And yes please react to Jhope's Jack in the box and his ICONIC Lollapalooza performance 🫶🏾 I subbed for some more content

First off, thanks for the reaction! I'm enjoying your thoughts and appreciation for the tracks so far. I have a more general comment about the album structure, but I'll save that for Part 2. I did want to mention a couple of things about lock/unlock here, though.
    - This album is the soundtrack for j-hope's docuseries about exploring his street dance roots (which is probably where you're getting the feel of a tour through old-school eras). Each track aligns with an episode and often a style of dance. So the song lock/unlock is actually connected to the dance style of popping and locking, particularly the control of one's muscles (locking at some points and then unlocking to move more smoothly).
    - Yes, Nile Rodgers played the guitar solo. Other commenters have given details about his career, but I'll just mention a couple of songs that you might know (and I personally connect with his lock/unlock solo): "Le Freak" and "Good Times" by Chic (and of course "Rapper's Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang, since it samples "Good Times"), "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge, "Get Lucky" and "Lose Yourself to Dance" by Daft Punk and Pharrell.

Nile Rodgers was the guitarist for Chic back in the day.
Bennie is a producer and did some background vocals. He did a song with them with Snoop a couple of years ago.

Nile Rodgers is also a very well respected and Grammy-winning (and Grammy Hall of Fame) producer. He has worked with Sister Sledge, Diana Ross, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Madonna, Daft Punk, Grace Jones, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and more.

BTS's members all came together through audition n casting. They didn't know each other prior. RM, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin & V got through an audition, Jin was casted on the street while he was on his way to class n Jungkook chose to join Big Hit after he got offered and ofc bcuz he saw a video of RM rapping n instantly wanted to join his company. So they were strangers n like J-Hope said, it felt like it was fate that the 7 of them came together.

I think this album is technically considered a Original Sound Track for his docu-series. You can see a little bit on their official channel, BangtanTV. You can search 'Hope on The Street. Dance Highlight' if you want to see the highlights of the docu-series.
Seven men (boys at first) with different music tastes and styles, along with immense talent, to come together at the right time and place to upend the music industry, is fate. 💜💜

hmm first of all, thank you for enjoying J Hope's album with us~ I appreciate your way of sharing your thoughts while being respectful :)
for a context, this album is an OST album (original soundtrack), so it may be not really have a flow like a regular album. the songs included in this album was made for every genre of dance that J Hope did in his Hope on the street docu-series aired on prime. it was fun~ you should watch it someday :)

So, the bts members only developed their individual colours after they all debuted as bts through the course of 10 years.
Te members were all practically strangers before they moved to the bighit dorms between 2010 and 2013 after their auditions.
Rm, suga and jhope joined the company in 2010.
Jin, jk and v joined in 2011 and jimin in 2012.
Out of them jin, jk jimin and v had absolutely no experience making music.
Jhope too, but his street dancing background gave him a lot of advantage in picking up rap and music production very quickly after he moved in with rm and suga. Rm and suga were the ones who made music as kids.
If you read the bts memoire it says the 3 rappers created a little hiphop school where they would teach the 4 vocal members about hiphop, jhope teaching dance and rm and suga showing them writing and producing through classic hiphop songs from the 90s.
So rm, jhope and suga played a huge role in teaching the vocal line their approach to making music.
All the 4 vocalists now pretty much know what their strengths are as individuals.
I hope this info satisfy some of your curiosity.
Hope on the street is an soundtrack to jhopes street dance documentary Hope on the street on prime video.
In the docu he dances to the entire album. He made the album with different styles of street dancing in mind.
So that would explain the sound of the songs in this album.

You need to listen to the BTS song Hip Hop Lover fro their early years, it explains their hop hop roots. Also time to watch An Introduction to the Bangtan 7 by Taylor Mari, quite long but really interesting background info.
