- Study game development on campus or remotely from where you live! www.ada.ac.za
Foreign students from outside South Africa are welcome, too, of course!
Only 3 months into their studies our game design and technology students have started working on their first simple games. They only had a week to create a game based on an idea outline. Working like a small development team with different tasks they applied the knowledge and skills they had learned so far.

@@AcademyofDigitalArts what career is? it could work if I'm self taught?
@@apdardillaspordoquier1324 Hey. We provide an education in game development from scratch. Not only the tools but most importantly how to plan work, work in a team, and we have you work on a lot of projects to build a portfolio. The portfolio is essential to start your career. Employers want to see what you have done, not which marks you got. Let us know if you have any questions.

Can u provide me with the resources they studied?...i really wanna learn game programming
Sorry, we cannot hand oit our course material for free. Our teachers invested a lot of time developing them and have to pay rent, too. Sorry. 🫥
Man I wish I could be there, dunno what id need to be able to get there but yeah I wanna go so bad
Hey. What you need to study here? Check out the website www.ada.ac.za. if you are not from Cape Town you can choose to join the class remotely, as well. We have had a couple of students that successfully finished their studies that way. All you need as a minimum requirement is a matric.
And here I am making bad games alone
Join us! 😁
Wow good game
Thank you :)
Oh my god they use blender 😊
Of course. Colleagues of mine are working for DCIE now, because of their Blender skills. For a game engine it does not really matter where the 3D model was made. And Blender is by now a very professional software.
I also make some kind of 3d Models in blender but I can't earn by it.
Would you like to See my 3d creations?
what game engine is the students using?
They start on Unity URP later HDRP and can do n Unreal workshop if they want to.
@@AcademyofDigitalArts Nice!
Are they using Blender?😮
Yes.
What kind of game your working on
Our students had to develop a simple arcade game in 3D. They get an outline of the general game mechanics and the theme, the characters, and other features they get to decide. And then they have to create the coding, graphics, menus, and everything else in a week. 🙂
Sir.. I'm in class 11 and I want to be a game developer.. and now I choose commerce so plz tell me if I choose science stream so it will help me to get a better company or not? Plz answere this as well as possible so I will change my stream ..
You can go for BCA it does not need science background
Some of our students here did study something comlletely different before. Then, after doing our one year course, they combined the two fields. We have alumnis working in engineering, therapy, etc using game technology for educatiinal games, augmented reality apps etc.
I wish there are somewhere like this in Nigeria
You can study with us remotely. You would join the class on campus via Zoom.
@@AcademyofDigitalArtsIt's sad. Because the problem is I can't buy laptop that can open unity with my money. Our family income is only about 320k Ks every month and 1 dollar=2850 Ks in current days. And damn me. I am still 14 and can work nothing. I see pc as luxury item 😂😂

I feel you bro I'm also from Nigeria
Im 14 i use to learn python lost interest and trying to learn C++ for game development hope i can do something like this when im older
C++ can be frustrating to learn and to use. C# is used in Unity, for example, and relatively easy. But it depends on the game engine you want to uae. Python is a great language to start with in general. All the best with your endeavour! 🫡
@@AcademyofDigitalArtsIm using unreal engine im still learning and going strong!
How many time it takes to develope an average 2d game
It really depends on how complex the game is and how big your team is. In most cases it can take up to a year or more until the game is ready to publish. Testing and optimizing the gameplay takes a while, and before that everything has to be created by the team. Graphics, code, animations, sounds, music, etc.
Which app are you using to create the game
We are training on Unity and Blender for the most part to ensure employability. Students can later do workshops in Unreal to learn that engine, too.
Anyone knows what course are needed to become game development
1 week 💀 gotta prepare them for the industry or what? xD
Yup. 😁 But it is more of a prototype. You cannot do a perfectly running game in that time. But they learn a lot about team communication. 🙂
Tell me the software and a good book for game development
Blender
Wow.🤗🤗 I also want to become a game developer.
Live your dream ;) Check out our website link in the description. Maybe the info helps you a bit!
I tired thinking getting a job at the gaming industry but now I think of it I now want One I think but I’m from calfriona is there one at any chance so I can check it out
From California it is a bit hard to do studying remotely. Just because of the time difference between California and Cape Town, South Africa.
Which Game Are You Making?
Our students had to make their first 3D game after a few months.
My dream
Follow your dreams! Always :)
You give students computer system to work on it or they pay
Hey. Our students have PCs in the classroom. They work on their machines at home when they have to do project work, etc. But they can also do that on the classroom PCs.
Cool
Thanks! :)

What game engine did they use?
Hi. They are working in Unity 2020 right now.
So basically spend in thousands and learn with other people or pay a few hundred bucks and learn alone at home?
Yes, if you want to know how to work on a team and plan a project properly on top of knowing the software tools. And develop a portfolio that will get you the job or project.
wait but i can create games on my own done it before
Course name ?
The course is Game Graphics and Multimedia Entertainment. Soon to be changed to Game & Interactive Media Development.
From where I can learn
In theory from anywhere. You need to check your time zone. Our concept art and graphic design courses start at 8.30am until 12.30. Game and Web are from 1pm to 5pm South African time (Just like Europe). If that is managable for you you can join.
Can we do this while doing job?
It depends if you want to use most of your free time or you can do it in small steps over a long time.
Its institute for game development?
Yes. We are an academy that teaches several different courses. One is the Game & Interactive media Development course. If you want to, check out our website www.ada.ac.za ! Let us know if you have any questions.
Hi can I get this course in Johannesburg
Sadly not. But we have the option to study the course remotely. You join the on-campus students online, work with them on projects, and have lecturer time like everybody else. We have been running this model with great success for two years now.
I need ur help
How can we help?
I love to work with people too it's fun can your reach out to me as well
Hey Ahmad! Thanks for your comment! Check out our website. Maybe you find it interesting. We will have a new series of behind the scenes videos coming up.
Games are saturated to the highest degree today and all the money goes to big budget titles
That isntrue to a degree. But in recent years people spent more money on well made indie gamea becauae the bih titlea got toonexpensibe and dissapointing. Games like The Long Dark, Everspace, The Hollow Knight series etc made a lot of money compared to their production budget. But you have to publish via a publisher who can make your game known. And a good quality game that is fun to play.
Everything is saturated. Fuckin working at McDonald’s is saturated. Can’t use that excuse forever. Sink or swim.
@@AcademyofDigitalArtsI mean I know it’s been a long time but even Garry’s Mod is a good example. Created by 1 guy in 2006 as a sandbox game and has made over $120,000,000 to date. People love indie games.

How much time required for game deployment
Hi! What do you mean by game deployment?
make like rules of survival
In this most students using blender... Blender is not game engine 😂😂
Of course, it is not. But if you want to have 3d models to use in your game rngine you woild habe to create them first, right? 😁
Sir game developer course it’s hard or easy??
Hey. We start with everything from scratch. It is not harder than studying anything else. If you put in effort, and do your exercises and projects you should have no problem. Take a look at our other videos to check how the students progress during the yeat.
@@AcademyofDigitalArts sir but my math is week
@@faizgamingworld Math is not that important. It also depends what you specialize in. If you specialize in coding, depending on what you need to create, good math can be a benefit. If you are specializing in game graphics or level design it is not important at all.
If you want an easy career stay away from tech. Period.
How to apply
Applicatioms are onlime via oir website www.ada.ac.za
Pc specs?
Hmm would have to look it up, but nothing too special.
@@AcademyofDigitalArts Is A Basic I5 PC Good With 16 Gb ram
@@mrid9532 For game development? The 16GB ram are very helpful. Below that, depending on what you do create, the system usually slows down pretty quickly. A good graphics card is also helpful. But it really depends on for what game platform you want to create. If you develop mobile games you actually do not want to have a very strong gaming PC because the game would run wrll on that and look fantastic, but whem you build and run it on your device the hardware cannot handle it.
@@AcademyofDigitalArts with graphics card is good?
@@mrid9532 For my private projects I develop on a three year old laptop with less.power than our student machines . If a good.looking game runs on that, then most people that would buy it could play it without problems on their machines. You know what I mean?

Hi
Hello there!
Hai
Hi!
How about not trying to make ambitious 3d games the first thing you do? They will look like shit. Make something smaller in scale you know you can finish. 3d is very quickly going to overscope your capacity as a beginner. Make something 2D.
Thw project they are soing is small in scope. The basics in 2D come later as they invlive a few approaches most are not used to. Given thebother modules being taught around that time so.e of the things they learn during this first project help them understand how certain aspects of modelling, texturing, and game engines are connected. Thanks for the input!
