Ong rain is such a fucking banger and also, yeah lmao throes of perdition is one of their best songs but it's like the fifth or sixth song not even close to the last song
Into the Mouth of Hell We March Torn Between Scylla & Charybdis Like A Sword Over Damocles Forsake Not The Dream Suffocating Sight Washing Away Me In The Tides
as diehard trivium fan i would say probably suffocating sight or declaration are some of the most difficult songs in triviums whole discography if you ask me
Yeah seriously lmao he didn't choose the best ones for this one. A better comparison would have been Rain vs The Anthem, that opening riff is weird to play when you just start learning it
Both songs from ascendancy 🤘🏼 when I first got that cd I played it in my car over and over and over. Trivium and Sylosis both just have such a good formula
Ive had difficulty in the past with their songs but none even close to What the Dead Men Say. That riff is insane. Maybe its just me and my own coordination but dang.
Actually difficult: Suffocating Sight, verse riffs to When All Light Dies, Inception Of The End, A Crisis Of Revelation, pre-chorus to Forsake Not The Dream, etc.
Trivium's bass guitar player has an uncle that used to cut my hair growing up. I loved the band, noticed all the signed merch he had lying around his shop, and he was able to show me never before seen footage of Trivium practicing.
Corey is the unsung fkn hero for Trivium.. I like his vocals as well... Sadly, i enjoyed Matts singing in their early albums. He had the rawness. The trained, vocal coached is not as good. Even though it is better singing properly, it isn't in his case...
Nice demo bro and sick tone! Loved that album so much. This video reminds me too, that I need to invest in a dampener for my guitar.... For me it would be to "dampen my shittiness" as Stevie T would say. 🤘🎸
Gunshot was the first song i learned from A to Z including solo. I cursed more than necessary on it i'd say. But man, even after all those years, i still enjoy playing that song.
It's the other way around. I remember learning most of the album when I was younger, and in my honest opinion, it's definitely the other way around. But everybody is different, so what's important is that you killed those riffs! 🙃💯🤘🤘
Yup. It's so fast, you can't really even think of it as a gallop when playing. You're conscious of what you're playing, but it's really a controlled reflex at that point.
could play the first bit at 15 pretty confidently, i set guitar down for a while, just went in the other room and yup still remember the pattern like i was 15, when i first seen them live here on ascendancy tour (and ill always love trivium for remembering about us northern irish back then, just like machine head)
Heavily disagree with this one. That second one you just need to refine your double picking technique. Double picking is hard, but the speed of that particular one is pretty slow. Even just watching, you can tell that your alt picking technique isnt nearly as refined as your down picking or gallops, look at how much the guitar moves during each riff, and its easy to tell that you're super tense in the double picking section. Just the familiarity with the techniques, itll even out over time.
I'm sorry have pal. Tuck your idea of what you think UK right in where your heads shoved... notice the smile hes trying to fight back.. he starts the breakdown? He's like omfg finaly some fun!!! Yes mr stiff. The key to playing is rock solid steadiness.. and maybe um again. Take your head out of your physical ass and notice he harmonics e very third note? While picking down? Fkn amazing! That's what its ment by hard bc um it is. There is no difference in the presence of the harmonic in any note... so the effort you think it doesn't take to be able to do that on the fly every time after just coming off the pre break?? And the bpm never change but the playing is stepped in half?? That air takes timing beyond your little mind... .. and see.. I'm sorry let me message corey tell him his vocals and playstyle isn't up to your standards of what counts as playing? So what if he shakes the damn thing in your girl's face?? Hmm nites are still being hit spot on and with some flare?? Haaaa shiiit dude suuuuuuuuuucks..... ya keep showing your hand bud. Only gives people something to laugh at lmfao. Not gallop on out of here hahaha and back to some how to videos of idk not being a complete cunt? (trips or triplets.... for the ignorantly impaired)
Like Callisto to a Star in Heaven main riff is tricky and fun once you get, I believe Corey recorded that on record since Matt couldn't get it down at the time the way they wanted, I know Paolo plays guitar as well and comes up with a lot of theur weird/tricky stuff as well
No way. Honesty that part of gunshot was always the easiest for me when I was younger. With alot of the other stuff I still struggle with some of the crazy right hand riffs
Actually difficult is Suffocating Sight
Suffocating right hand
That song is an absolute right hand destroyer! Great to play though!
Dude yeah. I got it up to full speed and it's really fun
That song is a fucking bitch to play
Actually difficult is A gunshot to the head of trepidation.
Actually difficult: playing in time with a metronome
Truth
fr
Yeah, if you don't have rhythm.
Lol
Truuuuuuue
Funny how much you can hear the Iron Maiden influence. That sounds almost identical to Fear of the Dark.
I've always thought "A Gunshot To The Head Of Trepidation" sounded very Maiden-y
EXACTLY
Matt always says Iron Maiden is a huge influence of theirs
@@ZombiesOnYourLawn66 Big enough to say that "Without Iron Maiden, Trivium wouldn't exist."
@@nonesoherpetological8974 they literally covered iron maiden, by iron maiden and did it better than the og singer
Definitely the opposite either way this whole album is fun to play
Rain is such an underrated opening track
Best opening track. And throes of perdition is their best closer.

Is it just me or is rain ONE of their best songs. Just me?
Great song
Ascendancy is a perfect album. Every song on it has a great quality.
Yes, this is my favorite album by them. The riffs are so iconic
Actually difficult is Torn Between Schyla & Charybdys
And Kirisute Gomen
Agree
And Into the Mouth of Hell We March
All of Shogun.
Suffocating sight😓
Nope, Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation.
Trivium riffs are always a hit 🤟
That part from GTTHOT is one of my all time favorite Trivium song parts ever

Conclusions of an Age is so much better than any other album though. Sucks they lost that vocalist.

Man I learned gunshot when it came out and I still struggle whenever I try to pick up that riff again.
0:49 perfect syncopation of matts spit and sound of instruments 😂😂

Ive had difficulty in the past with their songs but none even close to What the Dead Men Say. That riff is insane. Maybe its just me and my own coordination but dang.
Secomd riff sounds like parkway drive
Your thinking of Boneyards from horizons different riff may have similar notes tho
Or also fear of the dark
Actually difficult: Suffocating Sight, verse riffs to When All Light Dies, Inception Of The End, A Crisis Of Revelation, pre-chorus to Forsake Not The Dream, etc.
Gunshot is such a good riff broooo it grooves so well
Gunshot was the first trivium I learned. So awesome
All these years and trivium are still as great as ever, congrats matt most bands lose that thing that sets them apart but trivium never will
One of my all time favourite riffs from Matt and Corey is from the Roadrunner United album In The Fire, seeing that blew my mind
Yes! I still got the double disc album
Trivium's bass guitar player has an uncle that used to cut my hair growing up. I loved the band, noticed all the signed merch he had lying around his shop, and he was able to show me never before seen footage of Trivium practicing.
I’m learning Rain. I’m getting the hang of it now

Seriously difficult: Corey's half of the gunshot solo 🥵
Yeah it’s stupid hard

Congratz with getting the guitar back. Great vid🤟
Lmao ive watched this like 7 times just staring at his right hand
"Ascendancy" is the best one... And makes me a #Trivium fan from this day.
Pillars of serpents is insane to play too

Whole album is sooooo much fun to play
Gonna need a full cover, too badass on your setup 😫
Yeeees, more trivium in future please
Drowning in slow motion is impossible
you are so good you make me cry and unable to even play anymore
My actual difficult would be the melodic oriental riff in the breakdown from Like A Sword Over Damocles. Daaaamn does the right hand bleed after this!
Played suffocating sight to death when I was younger, never nailed it
more triviummmmm
when the fingers are all over the neck, that's when you know the player is sweatin.

You’re the most gorgeous female metal guitarist ever
If you’re wondering the actual difficult song is called (a gunshot to the head trepidation )
That gunshot riff is deceptively hard to play!

I could suggest picking up some selective picking chops from Tosin to practice or 'master' this selective picking technique.
Sword over Democles man. That song has some TOUGH riffs
double picking is no joke!!!! i completely agree with this
Ah dat was spicy mah boi

He plays it while screaming too
It's not just me? That riff is just between normal picking and speed picking and it fucks with my muscle memory
I actually feel the opposite, but it prob has to do most with your right hand technique. You’re a down-picking beast. Fun vid!
More trivium!!! I forget how good they are
Trepidation unfortunately wasn’t played to its full potential in this vid
The real hard part for me is playing the same riff after hitting the record button 😫😂😂
Sing mommas little baby loves shortening bread to gunshots riff. Swear on God

Rain and gunshot

Ain’t no way that 2nd riff is harder. I just spent 3 hours trying to learn rain and still can’t get it full speed
Rain!!! Yeah!!
The actual difficult riff is the riff that you cant play lol
The first riff is a little more difficult for me.
Chug chug chug
As I’m exploding is pretty difficult
Like light to flies
I’m putting Rain in the actually difficult category. That picking pattern is painful
