    The M2 conversions I 3d printed are on their way to you. They have a notch so you can move the strap more forward. In fact without the facial interface (Pro style) you can get closer to the lenses until you can see the sides of the LCD displays. Backing off a little you get the most FOV possible which is fantastic for me. I am going to make some Pro style light blockers for the sides and top. Stay tuned :)

    Hi Jay. Great video by the way.
    I got my M2 to M3 conversion kit a few days ago, I love it, the face pad went from being "abrasive" with the cloth strap to feeling pretty good with the M2-3 strap. LOL
    As for the battery thing, I use my Quest 3 mostly for PCVR so I've set my HMD to 90hz (it defaulted to 120hz), I also turned off passthrough and hand tracking and Bluetooth. My BoBoVR batteries are all 2.6 amps and very often, they will charge the Quest 3 while I use it in PCVR (Virtual Desktop) and am happy with the battery life I'm getting. Agreed, once you start doing MR/AR, with all the Quest 3 features turned on, the BoBoVR batteries don't last very long not to mention the Q3's internal battery. For PCVR, I am very happy with the Quest 3, love the edge to edge clarity of the new optics, the increase in FOV is a pleasant bonus. So far, I am impressed with my Q3 with M2-3 strap!!!! :)

    I just ordered myself the Bobovr M3 Pro strap because what came with the Meta Quest 3 is so intolerably uncomfortable that I can’t wear it for longer than 30 minutes at a stretch. Luckily, the Bobovr M3 Pro was on sale when I ordered it. But even at regular price it’s cheaper than the Meta Quest upgrade strap. The battery is just a bonus. I’m glad to hear that you’re comfortable wearing your headset now. I look forward to spending more time actually using my Meta Quest!

    Just figured out what the beep is for. If you are gaming and the battery runs out, it beeps to tell you it's time to change so you don't run down the headset before switching. It alerted me today and I was greatful for it. By the way. I make sure to keep the headset fully charged and I only lose between 1 to 5 percent headset battery playing through a full M2 2.6 batterey. It seems to deplete faster if you have lower headset battery when you start.

    I don't have my conversion kit yet for my BOBOVR M2 pro strap but I tested the battery (I put it in my pocket) playing Battlezone with my brother and my 5V 3A bobo rated battery lasted 1 1/5 hours before dying leaving my internal Quest 3 battery at 85% capacity from fully charged with Airlink (Wireless). I Haven't tested it yet with Virtual desktop. If I plug the quest 3 into its provided power brick with a USB C to USB C cable and use Airlink (Wirelessly) it maintains the charge exactly. It doesn't drop or raise the charge one bit. I tested a higher rated 45w power brick to see if it would charge while using airlink but the result was exactly the same as the provided Q3 power brick.
    As far as my airlink settings go, I play with 90Hz with the render resolution cracked up full to 1.5x. I have 120Hz disabled on my Q3 because I don't use it personally.

    Hey Jay,
    I use the Rebuff Reality VR Power 10k mAh battery pack and I use my Q3 for PCVR 98% of the time and I can keep the battery at whatever % its at the whole time.
    If I plug it in at 96%, until that battery dies, it will sit at 96%.
    I also have 30k mAh external battery that I keep in my pocket for when that Rebuff dies and that one can hand outputting up to 30W.
    I've actually seen my percentage go up while using the Q3 for PCVR with that battery.
    You need something with atleast 15W (max the Rebuff can do) to keep a steady charge. This is only an issue with the Q3 since it can sometime pull more than 18w if you are playing Quest games.
    I havent tested but im very sure if you use it for PCVR you only need 15W (5V 3A) and you are good to go.
    I use AirLink with the slider all the way to the right and 90Hz or VD on Ultra.
    You can also turn off the hand tracking if its not something you use often to conserve some battery while gaming.
    Hope this helps you and others!!

      What I want to know, what does "not working properly" mean? Does it deplete much faster, does it not charge the headset? Logically, what I'd expect happening is the 2,6 A battery would deplete slower, but the headset internal battery would fall to a lower % before the 2,6 A battery is depleted, while the 3.0 A battery would deplete faster but keep the internal battery at a higher % when depleted. This because the 3,0 A delivers more power, and if the Ah is the same, it would deplete faster.

    The Quest 3 draws 18W, to supply 18W you need a battery pack that can supply 3.6A. W/V=I. 18W/5V=3.6. If you buy a 20W battery pack and connect it via USBC PD you won't have an issue with the Quest dying before the battery pack.
    I can play Red Matter 2 until my 20W 10000mA battery pack does without consuming any of my Quest 3's battery.

    Really interesting about the differences in the battery. I marked my batteries (I have 4) and always assumed they were the same however the early batteries I got are the 3 amp versions and the later batteries I got appear to be 2.6 amp which is rather strange (thought it would be the other way round). I always thought that the B2 batteries were the same and it has not been made clear (yet again) by BoboVR that they made a change to the batteries however never told anyone (it would be different if it had been given a different name just like the headsets with M2 Pro and M2 Plus for instances) like B2 and B2 version 2 or B2 pro at least some way to let people know of a change taking place and not having to search for this ourselves otherwise it just feels like they are trying to hide something. Just my take.

    Using the Q3. Got the BoboVR M3. I got 3 batteries, all the same spec (see below). Had high hopes and went all-in seeing all the praise out there. Only tried one of them and saw it discharging while in use (as expected). Also had an annoying "buzzing" sound while the battery was attached - like interference... Buzzing changed/became less or more intense depending on how much demand was put on the Q3. Switched back to the Elite Battery Strap for now, since that sound just ruins the experience and makes it unusable for me. I've found a few other similar posts with this issue while scouring the internet. I'm hoping there's a solution at some point, since I like the fit/comfort of the BoboVR, and swappable batteries is a huge plus - But seriously considering returning all of it.

    Make sure 120 hz is disabled. I haven't had noticeable battery live issues with my Quest 3 since disabling it. Also cell phone chargers and cables will allow for a pocket charger. Find a set of batteries and cables (PD cables that are capable of at least 20 watts) that are able to do 20 watts at least. My battery is 10,000 Mah. I bought a Bobovr strap, but really I am waiting on a KKCOBVR strap like they made for the Pro that has a 10,000 Mah battery.

    These kind of reviews are among the best. I'm already shopping for battery packs even before I have my new Quest3. Now, I have the BoboVR for my Quest 2, but it looks like I'm gonna go for another brand, if available in Thailand or Malaysia... I see the BinBok 8000 mAh and Zyber VR are good alternatives. For my Pico4 I just strapped an old batterypack to the back of my head. Works good enough for me. But the Quest3 seems to need a lot more juice to be pleased.... it's gonna be an "expensive" lady!

      I bought the XIAOMI 33W Power Bank 10000mAh Pocket Edition Pro here in Singapore (around USD30) and strapped it to the stock head strap (great counter weight) with a 5A USB-C to USB-C cable... Holds the Quest 3 charge (started to play with headset battery at 87%)... it did not charge more, but neither did it discharge at all for 2.5 hours of 360+ Master Synth Riders... Happy to stick with this, until some manufacturer figures out a more elegant solution.

    I always Frankenstein a battery bank on mine, stuff like this always has low mah batteries, right now I have a 13,000mah anker on the quest 3, which is what I was using on my quest 2....just wish it was 18watt output instead of 15! Had to turn off 120hz and hand tracking to have it keep up...which it does nicely, after 4hrs the quest 3 is only down to 65% Doesn't stop the drain completely, but works! I rarely ever do more than 4hrs at 1 time so this is perfect for me, don't need it to be hot swappable!

    I've been on the fence about the BoboVR... I really like the idea that I can buy a few batteries and swap out for indefinite playtime, but I've always used the elite battery strap and it really worked well for me. Now the Q3 elite battery strap is even better with tethering through the strap and wireless charge through the headset.
    Only bit missing - replaceable batteries. That is actually more of a problem with the 3 because even with the extra battery the unit is sucking dry in less time than I'd like (only VERY rarely did my quest 2 run dry before I was ready to stop).
    So as much as I like the q3 elite battery strap... once BobVR sorts out their battery capacity issues (I'm guessing a version with bigger batteries) I will likely give it a try.

    0:01 Well, it's not really new, which always can be problematic.
    0:37 That is SO MUCH easier now. I always feared I'd break the Q2's arms, because you really had to apply A LOT of violence to get them off...
    1:29 Honeycomb above Pleather padding FTW.
    2:06 Why is noone talking about how much of the FOV you'll still lose even with the thing shoved up front completely? The brackets totally need cut-outs for the ports, and the left one needs a little more of it for symmetry, because that USB-C port takes up more space than the audio jack.
    2:55 OK, you're the first! Thank "meness"! XD
    3:04 Wanted to try that as well and wasn't able to shove it around... also, it wouldn't cover up the upper audio openings as much that way.
    3:24 Perfectly valid!
    3:39 That's the real issue. They should just have made it similar to the old one, and not the thing sticking out both ways. You'll always have the rear end clearly limiting how far you can lower the HMD. And I can't lower mine as much as I needed to do with the Q2. Blatantly speaking, this is basically the same "garbage" I ran into with the A2, which also wouldn't be able to come down far enough... (also they make the internal fan of the Ques 2 VERY audible and also killing spatial audio, which to be fair, every headphone "solution" does)
    4:06 LOL!
    5:01 Weird... thought that was just the Quest while getting charged.
    5:59 Same. Even with the drawbacks it has, it's still the best solution out there and I'm happy to have it already!
    6:31 Same, especially after looking up (like ~50-60° +).
    6:48 That's clearly the main issue. I can easily pull out the facial interface eye relief by one or even two notches with the thing shoved fully forward. But I want the lenses to be up close as much as possible. I actually currently have LESS FOV in the Q3 with the strap than I had in both the Quest 1 and 2! My benchmark is if I can see the left and right bezel borders of the monitor in Virtual Desktop's computer room after recentering without moving my head and the same with the 36° lines in Steam VR when it hasn't loaded Home yet (or you disabled it). In my Quest 3, I can't see the left and right one at the same time, which basically equals a horizontal FOV smaller than 72° (I'm actually shocked, 'cos I totally went into Steam VR to see how many segments it is, and it's 5 per side, so 36° each)! I can see them simultaneously in both the older Quests as well as in the CV1, though, but just barely.
    7:10 Still better with the VR Cover cloth thingies on it, but those touch my nose and I keep having to pull the ends away from it everytime I put the thing on.
    10:06 Typically does that when I unplug the battery and then take the headset off.
    11:01 Got the 2.6A ones, so 13W. Haven't had extremely quick discharges yet and they seem to hold up similarly well as with the Quest 2 in PCVR with Virtual Desktop, set to 90Hz and having auto switching to hand tracking turned off in general. I've set my headset to 120Hz, but that apparently only applies to software that utilizes it. Haven't played a lot of standalone yet, most of it was Linelight, Warplanes Air Corps and a title that's not out yet.

    Edit: I've experienced all the issues you have as well. The 26800 mAh power bank I use is pretty consistent now that's cooler outside (I live in a desert) and I turned the brightness to 50%. Charging issue is due the fact that the Q3's power draw is higher than the Q2 and people are using the incorrect power banks (too weak). Most people use standard 5 voltes, 2.4 amp (12 watt) power banks. I find that an 18 watt USD PD power bank is able to keep the Q3 fully charged while playing PCVR. I set it to 120hz and the Q3's battery doesn't go down. It doesn't go up aswell. It just maintains. Using a cheap $16, (20 watt 10,000 mah) powerbank from amazon I am able to get an extra 2 1/2 hours of playtime with the Q3 staying at 100% the entire time. Not a bad for $16.

      @@chan13153 You haven't been paying attention to these videos then. Batteries for Q2 not outputting enough is one thing. However the Q3 is also refusing to INPUT enough charge at times even with 65w wall chargers.
      I tested this myself on a bad day, and the quest refused to take more than 12-13W, but my phone worked just fine. Aside from the odd 1 or 2 times it's somehow drained a 26800 mAH battery in 2 hours, that bank usually maintains it for 5+ hours or only VERY slowly drains.
      Edit: Just to point out, even Meta said their Q3 Elite strap with battery isn't working all the time, so it's not intentional behavior.

    • @chan13153
      @chan13153 Před 10 měsíci

      @@TheUnRemarkableGamer The max power input of the quest 3 is 18 watt I think. It doesn't matter if you have a 65 watt charger. It will only take 18 watt at most. Most power banks seem to be consistent when I used them. Every 18 watt or higher charger I have used seem to be able to maintain the charger. I also have a USB Multimeter and it shows how much power the Q3 is taking in from the charger and i haven't seen any strange numbers where it's like well over 30 watts. For the most part it seems to mostly take 15-18 watts. I'm surprised most of these youtubers haven't actually measured how much power the quest 3 is taking in using a standard usb C Multimeter.
      Also a 26000 mah power bank with a max output of 12 watt will only output that much at most. Don't think plugging it into a Q3 can change that. The powerbank itself wouldnt be capable of outputting more power. And if the Q3 is taking in more power than its capaable of. Like lets say ur 26,000 powerbank has a max output of 65 watt this will probably end up frying the Q3's usb c port bc its not made to handle that much power. 26,000 mah power bank lasting only 2 hours would have to mean the Q3 is taking in I'm guessing taking in something like 100 watts. That will totally fry the Q3

I do not have a USB multimeter, but I did sideload several Android apps to inspect charging. Meta themselves have stated their own Q3 elite batteries are not working right, it's an acknowledged issue at this point.
      The charging problem with capable chargers is intermittent. Using the same charger, some days the headset will maintain a charge, while on others it will drain as if it isn't even plugged in. I was close to returning mine, but it's mysteriously improved enough that it usually holds or drains so slow it doesn't matter.
      Edit: Depending on heat load, the charger seems to throttle so you may never experience this issue. Commenter below also mentions a multimeter and being locked to 9w while the screen was on, but got a full 18w off.

    Hello, thank you for your review - very helpfull. Is there any updates or YOUR reaserch on the topic of battery, their durability and more important their "buzzing"?

    • @jaybratt
      @jaybratt  Před 9 měsíci +1

      The 5V2.6A batteries seem to be the most reliable usually giving you an extra 1-2 hours and even upping the battery a few % while charging. 5V3A ones seem to die quickly. I haven't had the buzzing at all on any M3 or M2 converted but I had it on the old universal dock of theirs consistently. It's definitely a dock issue and not any particular battery.

    My M2 Pro battery is a 19.24Wh like yours. The 2.6A or 3.0A is irrelevant as it is related to maximum discharge amps. The relevant data is 3.7v X 5200 mAh = 19.24Wh. The 3.7v is going to be constant but they need to up the mAh to get a greater capacity.

    • @CakePrincessCelestia
      @CakePrincessCelestia Před 10 měsíci

      Well, the discharge amps are relevant since the 2.6A model only provides 13W, but the headset can draw up to 18W.

    • @baal1969
      @baal1969 Před 10 měsíci

      @@CakePrincessCelestia Discharge amps are irrelevant to calculate storage capacity and that what was implied here. It's ultimately not going to make a big difference since the headset's own battery is going to act like a buffer. But yes, in the scenario where you're going to use an empty headset with one of those, you'd want sufficient discharge current.

    • @CakePrincessCelestia
      @CakePrincessCelestia Před 10 měsíci

      @@baal1969 The issue is literally the headset's battery dying before the one of the headstrap. That's why it is relevant. As soon as you got two of those batteries and don't need more than the 13W output they provide, you'll have infinite playtime as long as you keep recharging the other one while playing. In that scenario, the capacity only determines how often you need to swap them out. Well, and indirectly also, how much of a counterweight you'll have. They should actually be a bit chunkier, 'cos the headstrap slipping up under certain conditions is a real thing. Wouldn't happen if the battery was heavier which would be the case with one that had more capacity.
      (we both have our points, BTW - we're just talking different ones, apparently)

    I watch 3D movies on my quest 3. I have a 40,000mah batter pack. Started with full charge on headset and external battery, and after 5 hours of watch time, the external was at 33% and headset at 100%. I find the cable makes a MASSIVE difference to how well the headset charges while using. I’ve played up to 8 hours on the quest 2 with the same setup and just shy of 7 on the quest 3.

    I really don't understand the whole battery life thing. I've been playing with a powerbank tucked into the gap at the back of the stock strap playing Death Horizon Reloaded on 120hz and with all settings default as in no brightness tweaks, hand tracking still on etc and played for almost two hours and the battery kept the whole time. I think it drained to 96 percent yesterday but that was scoz the powebank ran out at some point. Then I played for about 45 mins with no powerbank and it only drained to like 80 percent. I'm not even using a beefy powerbank either it's a 15w 20000mah. Maybe you guys all just got dud quests.

    To fix the Battery dischargibg problem.l on the Quest 3.
    You need your AC charger or Battery Pack to be of the following protocols.
    PD3 and minimum 18w (around 3.6ah).
    Then your Quest 3 Headset will stay charged until the ext Batt depletes. (Always 100% on AC Power)
    Even the Elite Quest 3 Battery Strap only provides 12w 2.4ah .
    So yes, even it will struggle on Power intensive Apps.
    I have a ROSMOSS 100w Batt Bank and although it's a heavy brick, it keeps it at 100%.
    I may see how much run time I can actually get out of this ROSMOSS 100w 30Ah Bank when I get a chance.
    Tests performed using a FNIRSi FNB58 USB Meter.

    I unscrewed the magnetic "battery holder" part of the BoboVR M2 and jb welded it to a cheap but comfy Quest 3 head strap, haha 😄

    just got mine before the "I recommend you to wait" warning. But I really think the, even if the battery that comes with it doesn't properly charge it, I'll still get a comfortable experience, and maybe I can buy additional batteries later that actually charge it, or be lucky enough that a software patch fixes it. I'll only buy my Q3 on black friday anyway, so whatever... I bought the headstrap in advance just in case they sold out again. I bought it in the official BOBOVR website, by the way. As of now (02:57am New York Time, Oct 25th 2023) it was available for 50 bucks (excluded shipping, which was less than 5 dollars)

    The only way ive managed to be able to play non stop (playing ALOT of demeo atm so i NEED the time) is plugging in my link cable into my headset/adapter charger. Effectively im now wired but for games like demeo I dont need to move my head much, kinda screwed if I want to play games that need alot of head movement tho.

    I wish I had seen this a little bit earlier... I've heard so many great things about the previous Bobo strap so I ordered it just 2 hours ago, then thought I'd check a video on it now. I was confident enough but hey, at least I'll get a comfier strap than the original!

    Hey just to add an extra bit of data for this, I got my M3 BoboVR and battery up and going fully yesterday, when I had it plugged in the Quest 3 had the "charging" icon going the whole time and after about 2 hours (maybe a little longer) of playing Beat Saber, when I took off the headset and un plugged the battery I still had full charge on the headset (the Bobo battery was basically dead though). The battery I have is the 5v 2.6a version.

    Recent updates may have really helped. Got the conversion kit yesterday and here are my two cents.
    1. Fits just like does on my Q2. I have the zenni inserts so no noticeable issues with what I could consider lost FOV from what I had with the stock strap.
    2. Good friggin luck getting to top Velcro strap thru the center. This seriously took me 20 minutes of unfiltered frustration. Maybe bobo was smart enough to reverse the Velcro on the out of box M3 but it’s so gd hard to feed strap down thru the hole vs up with an M2 crown.
    3. Finally the battery. I threw a 5v 2.6 on and played Pop 1 which has been my fastest drainer since launch. After 1.5 hours my quest was at 89% and the batter still had 2 lights. I also had the battery running thru a passthru dongle for wireless earbuds. update must have helped bc I can totally live with this and I’m very happy with the converted M2
