Rishi Sunak: UK economy 'getting healthier every week', says prime minister

  • Rishi Sunak has told Sky News that although there is "more work to do", wages in people's pay packets are rising, taxes are falling and that people will feel "we're starting to turn a corner".
    He told Sky News' Ed Conway that inflation had fallen from 11% when he was elected - and the economy was "performing beyond all expectations".

    I fail to understand why this guy is still employed by us given the ridiculous waste of taxpayers money that was bounce-back loans. Any normal employee would be sacked for gross misconduct for that alone!

      @@nishie1 There are four different types of economies, as stated by mostly all economists: Developed economies, Undeveloped economies, Argentina and Singapore. The last two are outliers, Singapore had every reason to fail and massively succeeded despite overwhelming negative factors. Argentina failed spectacularly when it has everything it should've needed to join very well developed economies.
      Equating Argentina to literally any other country is nothing more than an apples and oranges point of view...

      The hiring pool is shrinking. The same in the US by checking the hourly per work data. One will have to do 2 jobs but repeat the first sentence. He's only right that fiscal is falling but using the average wage increase (less people working and less hour per work). SNAKE

    never understood when any gov claims "wages are rising"... like, when does that ever translate to an immediate increase in pay. Every hourly job I had, pay was reviewed yearly and salaried positions was dependent on company. It's just the message if it is weird to me because no one will see that then suddenly see an increase in their pay. I guess he does becomes he lives off interest🤨

    if the my wage is rising with 5% everything that cost money has risen with at least 20% over the last year - my annual tax has dropped 6£ - that's an average wage not the minimum one - bet Rishi's wife is saving 10 times my full gross pay this year only if not more
