Also, I love how you described the guys who were mostly young and progressive radicals and were supported at the time by both Garibaldi and Marx as "old royalists". Shows what an expert you are.
But OK, let's agree for the sake of an argument that the January Uprising is an irrelevant ancient history, which was just a Polish rebellion anyway (and that it doesn't matter haw Belarusians themselves view it).

The answer is this: chronology of Belarus: Rus (980-1190) => GDL (1240-1569) => PLC (1569-1795) => Russian Empire(1795-1917). 555 years of Lithuania+Poland vs 122 years of Russia. So, 555 vs 122. During this 555 years, enough differences have formed on the territory of Belarus so that it does not feel like a common part with Russia. And 122 years as part of Russia could not change anything. Belarusians remembered the glorious times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and wanted their own state.

3:12 Rule of thumb in Russian historiography: in every tiny event, under every pebble, lay the beginnings of what eventually would become Russia. Example: "Some dude in 852 farted. This fateful occurrence put in motion an unstoppable chain of events that would eventually inevitably lead to the emergence of the Russian Empire!"

Dumb. And wrong. The Primary Chronicle says that the various tribes of Slavs, Chuds, Ves and Mordvins hired some Varangians (it doesn't say "Scandinavians") to protect their trade. They wanted to expand their trade into the Baltic. At the time (800's-900's A.D.) their main trade was inland along rivers with the Khazars and the Bolgars and some with the Magyars. These Varangian mercenaries probably came from Gotland Island (not Sweden), and they set up an inland base around Staraya Ladoga, long before there was a Moscow. Belarus is Europe's newest country, and still doesn't really know how to be a country. They used to be a part of Lithuania, but over time became gradually more Polonized. Much of Belarus was once just the eastern part of Poland. Muscovy Russia had no part in Belarus history until Poland became partitioned in the late 1700's, then the Czars used it to grow potatoes. Today those potatoes are radioactive thanks to Chernobyl. There was never a state in history called "Kievan Rus". The name is a modern invention. Also "Rurik" didn't found a dynasty. That is an unproven myth. You do not know what you are talking about. Maybe it's time to try a different hobby?

@@rapturefuturistics1975 1793 the second partition and 1795 the third partition. But from the first partition in 1772 it was became clear that Russian Empire would swallow the whole territory, it was just the matter of time. Plus Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth long time was a puppet state of Russia, like from the beginning of the 18th century. Russia had great influence on the elections of the monarch and was backing the Liberum Veto, thus slowly destroying the country and throwing them into the abyss of mayhem and anarchy
