- 🇻🇳 It was an early morning! At 4am, we left from the city of Lao Cai to read a small district in northern Lao Cai province called "Bac Ha". This district has a special market that is only open on Sundays, so we came to check it out and film it. Right as we arrived, however, this old lady was very energetic and talkative. Hope you enjoy the conversation with her.

She immediately trusted and treated you like family. It's hilarious she even left you to watch her shop while she did her errands. I think Max also has a lady in Saigon who referred to him as her son (con trai), who loves to cook for him. You guys really make good impressions on the locals with your good manners, niceness and sincerity.

You guys are really a Great Ambassador for US to Vietnam. You are Great American whom I have seen and met when our Family come to US in 1979 from Vietnam. I am glad that I still see the genuine character of Vietnamese People in the Urban Cities of the North. I love to see your Videos to believe in this world, there is still many warm welcome and friendly treat. The Urban people living in the North are very kind people though they were very poor. Her tear explains to you everything about her tough life. Take care and thanks so much for visiting our country. Your video so lovely and covered full of humanity.
She reminds me of my beloved aunt. I know a lot of the middle aged and old ladies from the North talk and are talkative like that. I know that they are very happy to talk to you guys. They would see and treat any young adults like their own children at home. All you need to do is to be cute (ngoan, not just polite, but cute) and carry the conversation.
I don't know why I also got tears up when she hugged you and said thanks. What a lovely lady!

that was so nice all around. one of your best videos yet. she was so appreciative of your language knowledge. even 50 years ago when i was at the long binh base and worked off base as a 557th mp i could tell they liked it when some of us tried to learn a bit of the language although we were really not wanted there at the time. it makes a huge difference to try to learn the culture and language. great job!

I definitely dig your content. I'm a 54 year-old guy here in the U.S. and am looking to make a life change (always for the better; know what I mean?).
All my family is gone and there's nothing really holding me here. Just finished my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a Major in Entrepreneurship.
Was raised by my grandparents in what was once a small town in California; everyone used to be so down to earth there (not so much now; everyone lives under a cloud of fear and suspicion).
I've caught a few of your other videos and I absolutely love the attitude of the people there in Viet Nam; it's like water and air to an older person like me. I need those sort of vibes and America has just gotten so toxic, confrontational and stressed out, so much so that if a person wasn't locked into "just trying to survive" mode before, they definitely are now!
Vietnamese people seem to have a vibe of "life may be hard, but it is still meant to be LIVED".
Does that seem to be the case from what you have experienced?
