  • Twitter's Presenting Queen has been empowering people with the confidence to stand up and speak out through a career spanning over twenty years. Catherine identifies how people can become disenfranchised when there are barriers to them speaking out or when others either cannot hear their voice or take it seriously. They effectively blend into the background and become as she sees it ‘invisible’. This talk will explore the power of speaking up and taking action as a means of influencing and effecting change.
Catherine Sandland is a presentation skills trainer and owner of White Hart Training. Catherine’s early career was focused in human resource management but eventually she felt the pull towards a career in learning development. These days Catherine specialises in working with small firms, solo businesses and particularly women in small business. Catherine is determined to help people find their voice in business by aiding them with their presentation skills and public speaking.
After trying her hand at stand-up comedy and with a passion for Gilbert and Sullivan, Catherine has recently discovered the joys of exercise. Dog walking, outdoor 6am exercise classes three times a week and the bug must have bitten hard because she’s just signed up for her first Badassmucker race.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

I would emphasize how much women's voices are not honored or taken seriously so often.
