Well speed doesn't really matter if they're doing something. It'd be the same end result. On short lifespan you don't get enough time to really do anything since it doesn't change how quickly you learn or anything. If it did change those things, like you learn how to cook faster or could potty train faster, then it wouldn't be as bad.
@@Eventide215 To an extent that’s true, but sometimes she wouldn’t have the sims doing anything, and the game sometimes just lets the sims stand there even though there queue is filled. At least with my experience playong
@@evonnakinloh3310 That last bit you talk about, that's simulation lag. There's a mod that is literally called "Simulation lag fix" that helps fix it. Doesn't completely eliminate it, but helps so much. It's a lag in the simulation where it's trying to decide what that sim should do, how to do it, how to get to it, etc. Same thing happened on Sims 3 and once again there were mods to fix it.
@@Eventide215 once again another example of modders fixing the game. Didn’t know that one existed. I don’t think mines to serious though for me to need it. Usually when I just play it on normal speed it fixes immediately.
@@evonnakinloh3310 Yeah modders get to fix the game easier because they can focus on just one small thing. The only part that annoys me really is the ONLY issue people had with Sims 3 is that lag, which was due to a bug in the scripting.. we didn't want Sims 4 how it is. We just wanted Sims 3 but better.. Instead SIms 4 is more like a remake of Sims 1.. where I barely ever leave my home lot.
Now as for if you'd need the mod or not, you don't need it, but it'll help with a lot of issues you may not even notice. Like there's a lot of times where if you do change the time speed, when you lower it back down you'll see the clock jump a bit. Or where when they go to change outfits it takes a moment to load. All of those things can be fixed with the mod, so I'd still look into it if I was you. It also helps fix things that happen just on normal speed.
I disable aging completely. My sims will age and die when I want them to.

I typically have the toddler talk to the cat a ton. Makes the cat and the toddler feel cared for, all in one.
I always play on long span! It's so relaxing and perfect. Although sometimes it can be boring playing for so long, the sims age so much slower which is so stress relieving. They have more time to build their character, promote in their jobs, build their relationships, and have more time to go to fun events. I also have more time to connect with my characters and pets and know them better. I totally recommend it.
I played on long once and it took 6 hours to get a person to age up
I tend to switch between Normal (most of the time) and Long (sometimes, for like real life ppl I decided to make like my family or University).
Long all the time bores me a lil too much for random families lol.
Short for challenges sure gives some anxiety but it's so much fun to switch it all up

I play on long lifespan. Because Im scared of looking old and I don’t like my sims looking old and being adults. 💀
I feel that so much. I'm playing legacy and I feel so bad letting my sims age when I could just make them live forever, but aging and going through generations is kind of the POINT of legacy gameplay
Yeah I play long span, cause I want them to age up when I want and I can focus on my sims and build their storylines and stuff
I legit stopped playing on a save because I had my sim marry someone older than them like 4 days before their birthday and so they became and elder and it weirded me out.

It doesn't change the seasons length HOWEVER since the sims have shorter lifespans it gives you the feeling that the seasons are happening a lot faster and everything is going too fast when in reality it's just the sims getting older faster

The seasons feel like they go fast, especially when it’s thunder/lightning/death storming for half of summer and all you want to do is go SWIMMING
I never play on a short lifespan - either normal or long for me. Your short lifespan playthrough is stressing me out just watching. I also play with autonomy off, so I have to literally plan everything my sims do because I don't want accidental deaths or badly behaved kids.

Challenge idea- Build a house only using pre set rooms. You cannot move any stuff in the rooms. You can only add windows since I don’t think you get windows with the rooms. Good luck!
When simsie says short lifespan stresses her out but you have such a short attention span that if you even play on medium you get bored after 2 minutes
Well I'd say it's less having a short attention span and more the gameplay sucks.. I usually use MCCC to customize the lifespan and play with something between short and normal.. normal's too long and short's too low.. I miss Sims 3 since it felt so much more alive. Like I could watch my Sim go to work or go to the store. I could even send them to the park and actually watch them go there then see all the other sims just doing things around the world. On Sims 4 I never really leave home unless I NEED to go to the gym or something because I'm doing a challenge like this where I don't have much money.. on normal play though you'd typically very easily just build a gym room in your house and do that..

@@slytherinpride1291 I do that a lot. I'll be inspired to play, get on and create a sim, then build a house, and I'm bored.. then it'll just repeat. When I do play, it'll be like I start with nothing at all, but by the time I get a house I'm bored.

@@luisareis1824 Yeah I might play like a day or two then I'll be bored. If I do a like "start from nothing" though I'll usually end up playing like maybe a week or so. Like Kayla has said many times, it's actually quite easy to make money and it's kinda annoying.. there's no struggle really. Like she said, I like when there's more of a struggle to get somewhere. I don't want to be able to be rich in like a week of playing.. I want to have like 2 or 3 generations before we really start making money.
I always play on short lifespan and I still think some of their age up times are too long and I'll age them up early. I guess I get stressed sometimes, but I think it helps keep things interesting. When my Sims go to university I buy the youth potion because you're right, they'll be an elder by the end.

it's funny that you're freaking out about the short lifespans, because i used to do all my legacy challenges on the long setting and now that i'm doing an alphabet legacy challenge, this is how i feel about the normal lifespan.
except now that my idiot 4th gen matriarch has decided to give birth to six kids. now i crave short lifespan so much. i have 4 toddlers.

you could have your sims do odd jobs on the weekends/when they get home from work! (you can access odd jobs from the phone)
What about a build challenge where you have a set amount of time (3-5mins) to "shop" for furniture/lights. Then, you have to build the shell and furnish the house with what you picked out, not being able to go back to purchase other items and needing to use everything you pulled out.
Further Info:
*Choose your time constraint based on the size of shell you intend to make. 3min for a relatively small house, 4min for a normally sized one, 5 for anything above. You CANNOT change the decided size of house after the shopping phase has ended, regardless of how much furniture you lack of have in excess.
*During the shopping phase, you can select anything from the build/buy catalogue. If you want more than one of an item, you need to duplicate/pull out as many as you want.
*Swatches are finalized when the time runs out
*If you want a higher difficulty, windows/doors can also be selected during the shopping stage
*After the time is up, take as long as you want to build the shell, add wallpaper/flooring, and furnish it using ALL the items you picked out in the shopping stage
*Landscape is separately timed (1min), but you cannot arrange it until time is up.
Hopefully this all leads to an interesting build~

I play on short lifespans because I like to watch what they do. I give very few instructions and tend to just leave them to their own devices. I love watching how they choose to spend their lives.

As a short lifespwn player in my opinion it makes the game more exciting. Plus you don't get attached to your sims much so it doesn't matter when they die. Except for if a pet dies then it does matter alotttt. Perfect for legacy challenges tho.👌
