The reason they bombed the Iranian embassy to trigger this escalation was due to dying support in the West to back israel when they were effectively way overpowering over Palestine/hamas. In comes the war with Iran and suddenly Israel is the underdog now against the Islamic Republic, allowing US to keep funding the war in a more justified view and making the arms companies pockets fatter than ever. Israel fired two missiles that both landed (representing the two missiles that landed on Israeli soil) essentially proving to the Iranians that if Israel fired a 300 rocket barrage as Iran did then it would cause mass devastation, unlike with them who have the iron dome. The Israelis are proving a point whilst restraining themselves.
