  • If size is your thing, this machines has it. Even with the added size, it is still rigid enough to support the 22 watt module. It has a 600x600 work area with auto air assist that works well.

    Nice to see a Sculpfun review. I agree, the four screws system is burdensome to adjust. But I've learned to live with it. I have the more powerful 33w laser. I liked it so much that I upgraded my 5.5w smaller laser bed kit also to the 33w so basically I have medium and large 33w versions now. Lol. They've just come out with a Sculpfun Camera which I should be installing tomorrow. Included in your kit should be a few round metal stands to support the honeycomb so you can avoid the blowback on the rear of the piece. And, just a FYI, they have officially approved use of this model for 18,000 mm/min for the x axis speed. I have a link if you want to watch the video.

      Yea, they sent the little pillars but I usually use thinner magnets. I also have the camera coming to try out. It looks like a good option.

    Thanks for the review. Maybe some company will build one with size and features instead of either/or.

    I've been looking into replacing my older Atomstack A5Pro, and im rather confidently leaning towards getting this one since the A5 just wasn't cutting it. :P Thanks for the review friend!

      @@TheClackShack Will do! I do have one small question though in regards to the 22W vs 33W versions. Question is, im not certain i should shell out $200 more for the 33w version as opposed to the 22w one. I do plan on doing a decent amount of cutting as i like to make those multi-layered mandala hangings amongst other things. Thanks again!

    If I had to 3d print a cover for the limit switch, I would go the whole hog, and print a bracket and trigger so it could be mounted on the bottom of the rail.

    This is a definite contender in my search for my first laser engraver. One weird one I came across tonight is the Snapmaker Ray 40W. Do you have anything to say about that one? Seems to be lesser known to the community.

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  Před 3 měsíci +1

      I haven't had a chance to check that one out. I can't say I have heard of the brand either. The S30 is a simple yet effective machine. My only complaint was the cable management but I fixed that.

    Great review! I am a little confused though, mine has thumb screws to adjust the laser head. Still a little bit of a pain, but a lot better than the setup you have to deal with.

    Great vid! I'm new to this, if I just want to engrave on the surface of wood (and not cut through it) I wouldn't need a honeycomb backer, correct?

    • @TheClackShack
      @TheClackShack  Před 6 měsíci

      You can cut without a honeycomb but it does make it easier. For engraving only, you do not need one but it isn't a bad idea to have a fire resistant material under the work area.

    Hi,
    Very informative video! Do you know if the Sculpfun S30 Pro Max 33W laser can cut 1/8" gloss black acrylic and 0.125" white or black polystyrene? Please let me know.
    Thank you,
    Ed

      It will cut black acrylic, diodes have issues with white. I haven't tried polystyrene. Black maybe

    This has the worst laser head design and it goes dirty very quick. I have been sending @ sculpfun videos and pictures and the careless to fix or reply. I barely go 18 hours without disassembling the head and re-cleaning the lens.
    They don't have an easy head removal - 4 screws behind the laser head and they are very hard to reach!
    the PCB board on the laser head + the laser cable connection will soon break because of repeated short intervals of cleaning. The cut + engrave results are consistent.. yes, I replaced it with an Anti-fog lens from their support but it's still the same.
    I have a 1000x1000 x 500 enclosure with 500w inline exhaust and the head still goes extremely dirty!
    Beware if you have large amounts of cutting

      @TheClackShack  Před 6 měsíci

      With my exhaust setups, I do not have any issues.
