I do not understand these people who get so into their feelings over something that almost happened. You’ll eventually run into someone who is eager to use that gun they’re carrying.
I also feel people risk too much when they chase down or try to "police" a runner. If they are running it's a good chance that they are doing something else illegal... stolen car, drugs, so on - so it's even more likely they will use that gun if they think you are trying to catch them. Although, if they are kidnapping someone like a child I wonder if that makes the risk worth it? Don't know, but people that "give chase" should definitely weigh their actions and ask "Do I really need to be doing this or am I risking more that I should?". Definitely these people who are assaulting the hit and run drivers are in the wrong too though.

I would have told the bike rider that if it's a choice of hitting a pedestrian in the front or having a clueless entitled bike rider rear-end me, I wouldn't think twice about it. They are at an intersection with a pedestrian crossing sign. Somebody should paint a crosswalk but I don't even think these people are jaywalking. But like you said it wouldn't matter. You still stop, even for jaywalkers, because you generally try not to run over people. I don't see a pedestrian crossing sign. CA would definitely have flashing pedestrian lights since that intersection doesn't even have a traffic light. His point was supposed to be that you can't impede traffic by just stopping in the road. The pedestrians weren't gonna keep walking unless the cars stopped. My ex boyfriend's dad was hit by a drunk driver that swerved into his lane and then left the scene. Cops came 10 minutes later. Ex's dad's car was totaled. The drunk driver's front bumper with the vin number printed on it was left at the scene. He asked the police if they were gonna try to find the guy with the evidence left at the scene, the cop said "If the accident would have killed you we would do something about it." After a breathalyzer and a bunch of arguing the cops finally left like a bat outta hell to get the drunk driver (who was already long gone). It was well over $750 in damage. They never found the guy, probably didn't really look; if they tried they could have followed the trail of fluid that was leaking out of his vehicle. But this was in Detroit so... 😔

I have also run a red light without realizing it. I'm at a stop light and there is a light at the other end of the overpass. It turns green but the one directly in front of me is still red. 39:00. I've lucked out but it is something to look out for. I don't play with my phone while driving but I do take calls through the hands off system. I might want to rethink that as well. I do not understand these people who get so into their feelings over something that almost happened. You’ll eventually run into someone who is eager to use that gun they’re carrying.
I also feel people risk too much when they chase down or try to "police" a runner. If they are running it's a good chance that they are doing something else illegal... stolen car, drugs, so on - so it's even more likely they will use that gun if they think you are trying to catch them. Although, if they are kidnapping someone like a child I wonder if that makes the risk worth it? Don't know, but people that "give chase" should definitely weigh their actions and ask "Do I really need to be doing this or am I risking more that I should?". I would have told the bike rider that if it's a choice of hitting a pedestrian in the front or having a clueless entitled bike rider rear-end me, I wouldn't think twice about it. Pedestrians - even jaywalkers - always win, and dumb-@$$ bikers who can't be bothered to look can become quadriplegics as far as I'm concerned. Besides, the bike rider would have run over the pedestrian anyway, and thus we can just consider this saving the life of a jaywalker from an out-of-control biker.
They are at an intersection with a pedestrian crossing sign. Somebody should paint a crosswalk but I don't even think these people are jaywalking. But like you said it wouldn't matter. You still stop, even for jaywalkers, because you generally try not to run over people. My ex boyfriend's dad was hit by a drunk driver that swerved into his lane and then left the scene. Cops came 10 minutes later. Ex's dad's car was totaled. The drunk driver's front bumper with the vin number printed on it was left at the scene. He asked the police if they were gonna try to find the guy with the evidence left at the scene, the cop said "If the accident would have killed you we would do something about it." After a breathalyzer and a bunch of arguing the cops finally left like a bat outta hell to get the drunk driver (who was already long gone). It was well over $750 in damage. They never found the guy, probably didn't really look; if they tried they could have followed the trail of fluid that was leaking out of his vehicle. But this was in Detroit so... 😔

I have also run a red light without realizing it. I'm at a stop light and there is a light at the other end of the overpass. It turns green but the one directly in front of me is still red. 39:00. I've lucked out but it is something to look out for. I don't play with my phone while driving but I do take calls through the hands off system. I might want to rethink that as well. I swear the people break checking other cars are the same people who play victim to shut someone else’s life down.
