Good question. I don't think so since the vapor is very fine and will pass through the filter. You'll know this if the vapor is actually coming out from all your AC vents with no trouble. But I'm curious too -- can you check your cabin filter if it has some oily residue? Ideally, the vapor/fumes should be the one coming in contact with all the interior surfaces. The oily residue is just a byproduct (hence, the towel on the flooring). If so, then your filter is doing its job 😉

No you need something that will vaporize not steam
