  • Found this to be an interesting fix for a EGR code/ overheating condition. Let me know if this helps

Same condition with my car. Flushed some bad looking fluid. Still runs hot. Going for a heater core replacement. Thank you for your video.

Sharing this on TDI club where MANY (myself included) 2012+ NMS Passat TDI owners are having plugged up HC's with no heat and even plugged EGR coolers- Lets hope for a G14 coolant in the future! Some have switched to green coolant or even Honda coolants trying to fix this issue.

Great explanation! I'm still not sure if the coolant degradation is due to EGR heat, a formulation problem, or another part/material interacting negatively with the coolant. Regardless, the diagnosis and repair observations are spot-on!

I have this problem with a 1.9tdi 2008 vw golf. don't have a engine check light on. but no hot air and the temperature gauge go's up on long drive. fans cut in and thermostat is letting water though. if I change the heater matrix. will I still need to worry about egt sensors? also be good to see a removal/install video as looks like a common problem.

Have you seen P0401 stored in the ecm when the Heater Core is clogged ?

Looks more like a leak in the egr cooler or head gasket leak. Can't imagine coolant will get this color and debris from only overheating. Have you analysed the coolant on exhaust gasses?

Hi! I have a similar problem, in my case the car is not overhiting but i have no heat in it. I removed the DPF about 3 months ago because it was stocked and no regeneration was possible. On VagCom is no error. What do you think?
