I just got confirmed!! It felt so good to finish! But, just because I am confirmed does not mean that I’m not going to Church anymore. If anything, my life is just beginning.

I began questioning my faith because the claims seemed too absurd to me even at a young age. I eventually refused confirmation and finally left my faith and outed myself as atheist. You would have thought I committed the crime of the century. Everybody freaked out and I experienced so much derision and shaming. But I can't just manufacture belief in something that make no sense to me. So now I'm alienated by certain family members and most of my former friends. Nice. That's okay I've made new friends in the atheist community who treat me like a human being.
Im an atheist myself, believe what you want to believe, thats what I say.
I will be praying for you to come home because you are like the prodigal son. God wants you to come home. He won't push you but he does want you to come back to him. I almost became an atheist myself, because things didn't make sense to me. It was only when I started asking questions and finding answers that I remained with the Catholic Church. St. Raphael, pray for us.
I wasnt baptised and my peers are making their confirnation this year. I feel alienated but this comment helped😊.

@@blockbusterlady5993 sorry for late reply it went all good i was super scary actually when I was child my parents did baptism communion but then after confirmation left, so now at the age of 30 i have completed, we spoke with bishop and he agree to give confirmation only for me so I was only one to received that day

I wish I wasn't baptised. It got me stuck in a religion I wanted to leave. I felt trapped. Then I left and felt better. I wish you were baptised at an older age instead of a baby

Ages do vary. A long time agao I was 6 for first communion and 7 for confirmation, then it rose to about 12 or 13 in my country. i tihnk if you leave it too old though you lose people and it's counter productive. I would say 10 - 11 and no older is probably best -end of primary school last year.

The Archbishop is anointing the forehead with the Oil of Chrism, saying, “Be sealed with the Holy Spirit.”

They'll rehearse it and you'll find out how it works. I didn't know what was going to happen either when I received Confirmation as an eighth grader. Just continue in your journey.

I opted out of confirmation through my school. I knew I wasn't going to commit to following the Catholic faith the way that I should, getting confirmed felt dishonest to God and the religion itself. On the other hand my daughter is looking forward to it and I nurture that as best as I can.

😊 I was received into the Roman catholic Church, over 50 years ago by now, and I was well into my late 20s when I was done. I was seriously ill at the time, and refused point blank to go to the nearby
Cathedral to be done,,I was being baptised and confirmed at the same time.
My parish priest agreed to get the then necesssry permission to do the whole ceremony himself, I had a sponsor and 2 people who agreed to actvas sort of honorary God parents tho by that time I didn't need them but I loved the idea, and these two friends came to support me on the day.
It was a really lovely occasion.
Warm friendly, no High mighty snooty and cold Bishops around, just my wonderful parish priest, and I, am still a happy, and devout practising Catholic, to this very day. So you can certainly have confirnariom and other sacraments without the need for a bishop to be present.
Also without a Bishop presiding you' be a lot less nervous than with the priest who has prepared you for the occasion.
