That is very cool. Metrolink can get really busy at rush hour, but tapping away on one of those could get you the whole tram all to yourself. 😁
The keyboard and Screen link in the description are the same
The keyboard model is an M5Stack CardKB U035-B.
@@philbe3095 Where from? Can't find it on ALi
Cool little kit box, I love the community engagement with meshtastic projects, lots of useful tips and shared knowledge , Thanks Lewis 👍
Connection for an external antenna would be great.
Love this video. We need more hobbyists that have good work getting recognized.
Haha, I though it was suitcase-sized until you picked it up
That's really cool maybe you could get a attachment for your forearm with a built-in radio and Geiger counter
I certainly hope someone will make a ready to go all in one model. Some don’t have the skills and many do not have the time.
Reminds me of my old Motorola v.box from about 25 years ago
Just when I was going to put a cap on my meshtastic spending. Thanks a lot, Ringway.
But seriously, I was looking for an excuse to get into Rak. This may be it.
I like it, but ideally it should slip easily into a pocket, and it's a little too thick and square for that, so I'd suggest making it as thin as possible, even if that means it needs to be a bit longer, for example to fit the battery next to the board instead of on top of it. Think of a phone, they're quite long, but they disappear in a pocket because they're thin. I bet it could be a good 30 to 50% thinner with a bit of tweaking.
no way looks amazing
This is a great video and I love this idea of using RAK boards very much. As far as my knowlege and personal experience goes, RAK boards are also the best when a Meshtastic node is used either as a solar powered repeater or router as they draw less current than LILYGO or Heltec, probably due to those two being run by ESP32, which is more power hungry.
For northern hemisphere, the battery life becomes more pronounced as there's very little daylight during winter months and the node must rely more on the battery to function.
The name is awesome! Meshbook Pro, FTW!
Pretty cool helping somebody out you are the man
Thank you and I look forward to seeing more of these.
Another awesome video. Thanks again for your time.
Lately, I'm into dev. Boards, the one I'm now assembling is a ESP32 with relays. But I noticed they have great stuff as well for radio use. Even for use with a simple Arduino. There are great developments circuits out there. I'm pretty new to this.
I do need them. Thank you for sharing with us.. God Bless 🙏
Absolutely fantastic.
Have you heard any news on the updated firmware for the T Deck that lets you view more than just the last received message?
Cheers, Great Video Lewis
That looks pretty cool 👍.
Awww *cuteeee*! Really lovely setup, thanks for sharing!
I love everything LoRa but have never used it in favour of the alternatives but this may well be just enough to sway me. Thanks, man.
Why aren't more designs using serial controlled eink displays? Battery life would last a lot longer if you only needed to refresh when new info is presented.
Cool project. The keyboard link is wrong though
Wish the 3D print file was available...
Very nicely done. Would be nice if the lid snapped together.
no 2 3d printers can print precise enough to snap, so it's easier to just use screws.
Prices quoted appear to be grossly underestimated.
I know what I paid
I only clicked your own links@@RingwayManchester
I was only going by the links you provide.
I love how meshtastic following is growing by leaps & bounds.
I do have a question about the frequencies on which it operates. Are there any licensing concerns? Is this exclusive to the UK, or could it be implemented in the US as well?
Awesome case. You say the battery last a week on standby mode, how do you set up Stand By mode on the RAk module? My Rak module uses 13,5-14mAh off the battery wich would only give just short of four days.
Thanks 👍
Just ordered all the stuffs. Think I'm going to rename it though. Rakbook Pro, Racbook Pro? Also drill a hole in the lower side for an SMA connex.
Guess Ima have to put off that Malachite DSP2 purchase awhile longer. Ringwayyyyy (shaking fist in air)
so if you turn off the gps there it wont show your location say on the mesh online map or anywhere else?
I wonder how these handle receiving a message whilst transmitting im pretty sure they can’t handle that in this design
Thanks!
Thanks so much!
How is sensitivity and snr compared to Heltec V3 board?
Thanks for sharing, shared.
That's awesome
The link to the keyboard points to the display page
Very cool
Looking good, I think I will wait until I can buy one complete, do not have the skills with a soldering iron.
RAK node 'Page not found'
awesome
Maybe the M5stack CARDputer can work too
nice
Do you have a link for an antenna?
I'm curious about the range now...
Would you please check the link for the Keyboard? Currently the link is the same as for the display. Thanks.
What's the range from one unit to another?
A lot of us don't understand this system, details please.
How good is that
can we download the stl 3d print files somewhere?
Link for the keyboard brings up the display
It is a tiny, 21st century, enigma machine.
👉Is the 883048 battery the largest that fits?
we rely on internet as alwats-on, high bandwitth communication. We forget that we can bulk transfer (one time over internet, or by mailing or carrying info on drives). Low bandwith data tranfer is interesting. If you hosted the apps and ai and things you need locally rather than in a cloud, the informational input you would need to stay updated might be squeezable into long range, slow bandwith connections. If all ypu send is raw data and what's changed rather than bloated web apps ot html, there's more to this than sending texts?
I wonder when the band will be congested so communication will start failing. What do you think about this?
Niiiice
What about the antenna arrangements?
Probably using internal one
How much?
Needs external antenna
What happened to Andy? You are the top Meshtastic CZcamsr now.
I always was ;)
@@RingwayManchester From number stations to 80' vigilante soldering iron slingers. you are a great capacity for anything radio, but you lack Andy's boyish enthusiasm. This video is brilliant BTW. This device has the functionality of the T-Deck, without all its flaws, like its impossible high power consumption and no software support for light sleep it uses 1/2W. A device like this is so much better with a Wisblock and a lower powered display. Are you going to rats nest together something Meshtastic, to prove your right to the throne? The Nice-RF higher power LoRa radio module has the SX1262 and should be pin compatible, just needs a higher supply than the 3.1V the base modules need for their 22dBm, not to go in the footsteps of former pirates, but I presume it has a better radio receiver and filtering so it would be beneficial even when run at legal levels?
Keyboard link is for display, no link for keyboard
The keyboard model is an M5Stack CardKB U035-B.
Wish I could justify having another meshtastic device, but “appears” no one in my area has, BTW Any MN users here? Lol
Apple's lawyers have entered the chat...
I wonder if any crime gangs follow your channel for tips 😅
Take my money!
Lets cross this with Tesla tower technology!!!! Nodes EVERYWHERE, providing electricity and communication!! I'll back it! 🤝💰
Why can we not talk true MeshTastic?
@RingwayManchester , no (external) antenna ? ...you/they/he forget the most important ! ... my verdict: no good.
put a antenna on it , or it will fry itself :)
Once again, Meshtastic requires a newer phone than affordable for me.
yes. I only have windows computer but they don't support it without internet.
No GPS present 😂 yeah that's not going to happen
Rak is modular. You can get plug in GPS, environment sensor boards, etc.
Wow its tiny.
that's what she said 😂
@@valvemonky4734 Bwahahah!
I am at a loss as to why you describe this as "off-grid" when it relies on a LoRa mesh network. Hardly off-grid!
Because it doesn’t require a network and is completely off grid. Come on lad wake up before spouting nonsense
Theoretically a company could mount receivers on many radio towers and listen to all channels on the 868 frequency and then decode it as soon as possible
Or OFCOM could restrict the ISM band
"Pro" Is copyright by APPLE INC.
We use the term weld Pro nothing from the apple people yet .
The all new Apple prolapse
Meshtastic is a good idea but is is easily hacked and jammed.
Besides, Big Brother doesn't want the public to have any private communications! 😡
@RingwayManchester >>> Great video...👍
