The Ultimate Clippers Team

- In this series, I assemble what I believe is the greatest team possible for each franchise. In this specific video, we're looking at the Los Angeles Clippers.
5 starters, 5 backups, and 3 rotations players. A total of 13 roster spots on each Ultimate Team. It's not just about talent, but it's about building a team that works and gels together.

The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

In a 30 team league, with each franchise having their "Ultimate Team", do these Clippers make the Playoffs??
JOHNNY!😭😭Day 1,235 of asking you to do a deep dive into wilt chamberlains bag(show how he could've been more dominant under different rules)or his competition at his position(54% of his games were played against another hof center)
The "Ultimate Team" Clippers will share the championship-less fate of the real team. Before thinking through the ultimate teams of every franchise, it's hard to say that the Clippers miss the playoffs. But they're unlikely to make it out of the second round, with teams like the Lakers, Warriors, and Rockets likely ahead of them.
@@JohnnyRodgers3 Wilt could also have been more dominant in another social/sports era. Too many forget that BIll Russell, Wilt, Elgin, and Oscar were all drafted before MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech and the Civil Rights Act. For Wilt, I think it fueled his need to be a "skill" player rather than a "bully" like Shaq. He was already called "Goliath", and at the time the narrative could easily have been "Wilt is a thug".
This is a lottery team
I feel like Barry and Odom would have been good somewhere, but I can't disagree with your choices
This has been my favourite series currently. I’m hoping you can finish this series with a final video ranking each team
Maybe he could poll his fans, determine what seeds everyone are, and do a hypothetical ultimate team tournament.
@@fortynights1513i think he plans to simulate in on 2k
Jonny has to give us the a Playoffs of these teams.
yep, that will be great.
A final video ranking would be 🔥🔥🔥 I think Lakers gonna take the top spot
How does this not have more views? This channel is criminally underrated.
Because it's the middle of a Monday? And it's about the Clippers... 🤣
I appreciate the love… but the man’s got a point 😂 Unfortunately, niche videos like Clippers history stuff, doesn’t get many views, and I expected that upon upload. Gotta be faithful to the series though. Grizzlies is next 😤
@@jonnyarnett Absolutely! I mainly watched to see Bob McAdoo get recognized in the starting lineup, where Griffin would fit, and if CP3 would be the starting point guard.
@@jonnyarnett We'll try our best to stick with you through these trying early-mid alphabetical times, Jonny! In all seriousness, my alma mater should have at least one player on the Grizzlies, maybe more, with the recent success a couple of them have had, so I'm very curious about that one!
Because it was uploaded an hour ago?
Jonny didn’t mention this but Randy Smith was the OG Iron Man. and had the longest streak before AC Green broke it. you could always rely on Smith
Good, that is exactly what this team needs! Paul, Kawhi, and George will obviously all be injured in the playoffs so we need someone who can actually get on the court.
Sam Cassell is so underrated. He was smart, crafty and tough. Plus he brings championship experience to a franchise that has not had many championship players in its history.
Cassell is kind of like the Kenny Lofton of the NBA. Not as good a player in the NBA as Lofton was in the MLB, but either way, Cassell often found himself on good teams.
Cassell seems more famous for looking like Gollum than being an all-star caliber PG that was always in the playoffs with good teams
Loving this series! Such a scary team too. I love that you gave McAdoo is credit, and also talking about Elton Brand.
I might have to start healthy prime Brand over Griffin. Brand was so consistent on both ends of the floor every night in his prime.
If Paul and Wilkins had played on the same team in their prime, they would have made a very strong duo.
Agreed 👍
Love the guard choices. I had Norm Nixon as backup PG. Four seasons at 9 assists per.
Didn’t know he played for the Clippers
I’m very glad that Bob McAdoo was also included in this video because he was really a great player especially during his great years with the Braves. He was the first and only player in Brave/Clipper franchise history to win the NBA MVP in a season.
He's not a Clipper though. Like not even one season
Yeah he’s not a Clipper. He’s a Brave but when you talk about the history of the franchise, McAdoo, in my humble opinion, always considered as the greatest player in the history of the Brave/Clipper franchise. I love Blake Griffin and Chris Paul but, Bob McAdoo always the greatest Brave/Clipper ever.
@@carljustinenuestro8771 the Buffalo team switched with the Celtics. McAdoo was never a part of the Clippers in any way even via franchise history
@@MPHswayze before the owner of the Braves, John Y. Brown which is also the owner of KFC back then and the owner of Celtics Irv Levin switched their teams, McAdoo was already traded to the Knicks after the 1975-76 season. Yeah he’s not the part of the Clippers (under that name) but, he’s always a part of the history of the franchise because he won a scoring champion, MVP, all-rookie team and all-NBA team two times with the Braves
I think someone you really missed was Cory Magette, super underrated player. I love your videos, your my favorite CZcamsr.
Hmm, I'm surprised Jamal Crawford and Lou Williams didn't get a mention, they're scoring machines.
i love your channel, man. your videos are worth watching.
Agreed
Thanks man! I wouldn’t make them if people didn’t watch, so I’m grateful
@@jonnyarnett no, thank you. you're doing the Lord's work with these videos. keep it up
Ron Harper once said playing for the Clippers was like a jail sentence
Great work as usual brother! Please keep them coming.
I totally love this series. Great job and perspective.
Love the Randy Smith and Dominque additions!!
Nice video man. It is nice to see your video after a day being dead tiring
love ur channel so much! 🫶 i’m a nba fan forever.
from philippines
I like the more recent inclusions. I know these guys! I appreciate the history, of course, but sometimes I have no idea who some of the OGs are... Nostalgia
Great video!!
Great Video 💯💪🏻
As Always much love from Germany 🇩🇪❤️
These starters have won the first Ultimate All-Time top 5 games trophy on my channel. You're right about their defense & chemistry. Was cool to see play out on the blacktop. ✌🏾
Great work I'm ready for the Mavs UT
Someone to consider as an honorable mention: 1970s Buffalo Braves PG Ernie DiGregorio. He was, like many here, ruined by injuries. And his stats don’t jump out at you. But he was the rookie of the year in 1974 and led the league in both free throw percentage and assists per game that season. I don’t think he should make the team, but he’s an interesting reserve option for the honorable mentions.
This is a great series, so much better than just the best 5 players ever stuff.
Mainly that Starting 5 is filthy🔥but I can still see better starting 5’s💯so John ma boy you gassed a little bit at the end😅But man keep up the vids🏄🏾im rocking wit u🤘🏾
Kinda surprised you didn't include Westbrook in the honorable mentions. I'm definitely not a Westbrook stan, but he played more games for the Clips than Nique and is doing a decent job averaging 16/8/5 during his tenure there
Nice video Jonny, I truly enjoyed it many of my favorite players included past & present!❤️
Clip Nation baby! On the very night James Harden debuts for the Clippers in New York!
Nice job & good work once again Jonny!🏀💯✨
The Clippers, or as I like to call them: The “Clip Show”.
They’ve made for some pretty cool highlights. Especially Lob City.
@@fortynights1513 utterly disgusting the way PG13 (Paul George) played tonight, never seen a guy so talented, so skilled on both ends of the floor put up so many stinkers
Tough being a fan but when he's on, he's one of the very best players to watch All-Time!
Tough but I stick with him...
Just on preference I would've added Lamar in the last 3 roster spots for additional height. But honestly, that nitpicking. This is a solid list.
Clippers just had bad management and an unfortunate history with good players being injury prone
I understand all of jonny's picks but im still bummed that there was no crawford or lou will😢😂😂
Not even in honorable mention too
I love this series
I'm Glad you did not leave Danny Manning and Ron Harper off the Team and also I feel Terry Cummings should have gotten a roster spot. 23.3ppg .508fg 10.1 rebounds 2.1 assists 1.5 steals . also Norman Nixon should have a roster spot..
The early 2000’s clippers team could’ve been one of the greatest, management really messed up big time
They were better in the middle years of the decade than the early years of the decade.
@@fortynights1513 they had miles, Odom, corey and Q rich yet they let them all walk away and didn’t even bother to develop them
@@andresdelportillo9917That’s true.
Great choices, Jonny! The starting 5 is pretty good. Deadly from outside and inside. The bench is good too. I remember Brand's 20-10 seasons and how good Cassell was. I remember him more from the Bucks, but you make a great point about how he did well in LA too. Plus, it would be so fun to see Wilkins and DeAndre Jordan on the same too.
Great points about Harper also. He was a solid scorer and passer so I agree with him being on the team also.
Nice video. Have a nice week, Jonny! 😊
In 2k I’m making the all time rosters with similar rotations to yours it’s gonna be very interesting once this series is done and I can simulate and play out a season.
So many greats and so many almost forgotten players. I don’t care if they make the playoffs. I love hearing about them all and I love speculating on their potential. This is such a great series.
Great job on putting Wilkins on the team Jonny! I still can't believe that Atlanta traded him away even after all these years. When he was still very productive.
You got the squad right. Nice to see the honorable mentions, Ken Norman was smooth
Clippers team never knew about Randy Smith. Nice Domonique played their. No Darius Miles lol.
Are you going to allow duplicates for people that could appear for multiple teams, like LeBron, Kareem, or CP3?
yes, he does
The series is back!
While searching for the players the Braves drafted in the Moses Malone trade, i found out Bruce Jenner was drafted by the Kings in 1977.. Might take some research, but a video on other athletes or stars being drafted is an interesting topic i havent really seen.. Great vid as always
I dont want the Braves back specifically but i do want a buffalo team with the same color scheme cause man that was a good look
Yes, @scottbrayton9484! I love those Braves uniforms!
Putting Dominique Wilkins here when he played 25 games is wild 😂. There should be a 60 game requirement or something so that a player has to play at least one relatively healthy full season for the team.
Harden as 13th man!!! 😂
Nice of Johnny to mention CP3. I just finished watching No Chill Gil and McCants and Brandon Jennings were disrespecting him on a top 5 pg list.
As a honorable mention I would add Ernie DiGregorio. A short career due to injury, he led the NBA in assist his rookie year in 1974, same year he was named ROTY. If he had not suffered his injuries, I think NBA history would be different with a potential Buffalo Dynasty in the 70s.
What position did he play?
W video
5:24 - world . B . Free is actually tough name 🔥
Suprised I didn't see Norm Nixon at least in the honorable mentions list
A great all time team, but imo they would have no chance against most of the others
I must say that I am surprised that Elmore Smith is mentioned no where, since you were bringing up Buffalo. He was an amazing center.
I forgot how good look this team on paper. Tbh, Pat Bev and Harrell should be in the list. I know they are not maybe the more talented Clippers, but that 2019-2020 season is the closest the Clippers were to win a ring, and they were key role players to that team. Most of this bench players in this ultimate team were empty stats players, IMO. Wilkins should not counted btw. Also, considering the best coach the Clippers have had is Doc Rivers, i don't see them as good as they seem.
Can you make a video about a award “Offensive Player of the Year” for every season with Honorable Mentions? Sounds interesting to me!!
My prediction before watching
Starters
PG: Chris Paul
SG: Paul George
SF: Kawhi Leonard
PF. Elton Brand
C: Bob McAdoo
Bench
PG: World B Free
SG: Ron Harper
SF: Corey Maggette
PF: Blake Griffin

3 rotation players
1. Chris Kaman
2. Danny Manning
3. JJ Reddick
I never heard of Randy Smith, I'm going to have to look him up
i love when the 'ultimate team' doesnt repeat numbers :p
I think Randy Smith needs to be on the second team. Free was great for a couple of seasons with the Clippers, and Cassell was OK in a three-year stint there. However, Randy Smith was really good for many years with the Braves/Clippers. I LOVE this series, Jonny, but I think I would give just a little more weight to the time these players spent with the organization being profiled. But keep up the good work!
I had no idea that Dominique played for the Clippers I always thought of him in Atlanta
You know you're the Clips when you have Eric Piatkowski as an honorable mention.
Definitely one of the most fun all time teams
The ultimate clipper curse 😂😂😂
Can't wait for the Hornets!!!
looking forward to the ultimate globetrotters.
meadowlark lemon is the goat.
I think it would be better if there's no duplicate players in every team. Only one team for each player.

Assuming they're healthy, I would imagine their starting 5 would decimate you, but when the reserves come out, they'd start blowing leads. They're still decent, but definitely a step down, which would cost them games
Perhaps one of the few ways the franchise can win a championship
Naw they'll choke it away some way somehow 😂
Eh, every (or I guess I should say most), all-time roster is going to look formidable. But even of the ones already covered, multiple all-time lineups would keep this group out of the finals, let alone a title.
Damn the starting 5 is stacked! I think it will be the best one for a franchise that has not won a championship.
Now that I think of it, the Magic will have a great one too!
Exactly crazy Clippers have one of best teams if put together to never win a championship
After you finish making the teams you should make a video comparing them to each other and decide the playoffs and champion
I don't think these Clippers are going to compete with the previous teams over a season. The starting unit is a problem.... But the 2nd unit is just good. Plus they are lacking that "mega" star... the guy that gets a basket or stop when it's needed most
Lemme get this out of the way first of all. This team is good. Like very good. They actually can compete with the likes of the Lakers, Warriors and Rockets. They definitely make the playoffs and might even get a high seed. I was thinking Corey Maggette, but then you surprised me with Dominique and by that point, you probably have to let Maggette off. So this roster is in great shape and yeah, like you said, their only issue would be health.
Now I'm gonna talk random spits here. You may notice that the Clippers have an absolutely horrendous history despite their good talent. Well, basically for several years in the previous century, the franchise saw young talent or draft picks they acquire and are like, "Pssh, this isn't important," and trade them away for worse value in return, tanking their records as a result. But even when they keep young talent or get them from other teams, it doesn't matter, because except for my man World B. Free, who was an anomaly, every single player they get will go through one of 3 results. 1. Get injured. 2. Have a career-altering injury. Or 3. GET A CAREER-ENDING INJURY. Seriously, this happened for years upon years. It was so bad that in 1985, when the team had a young big 3 of Norm Nixon, Derek Smith and Marques Johnson (yes, the Bucks one) to build around. By the time they drafted Danny Manning, all 3 of them were gone due to these injuries. To learn more about all of this, Mike Korzemba essentially made a Clippers Legacy of Failure video a few years ago, so check that out. Great job, Donald Sterling and those before him. Fun fact: They also swapped owners with the Celtics' one back in the early 80's, but I won't talk about that here.
And then, there's Dominique Wilkins. How the heck did he end up on this team? Well, the Hawks traded him for Danny Manning. Now, yes, he was coming off an Achillies tear 3 years eariler, which is not great to come back from, but you're trading away something far more valuable to what your team had and needed. Franchise credibility. For as long as they have been in Atlanta, this was the best player they ever had. And you tossed him to the side no longer believing in him. All for a guy who has never proven to be the franchise guy for a good organization. And do you know the worst part of all this? The Hawks had the best record in the East when it was all said and done, and teams they had previously fallen to in the Celtics, Bucks, Pistons, & Bulls (MJ retired) were all gone. This was the year for that franchise to finally make it back to the Finals. With Dominique, I believe they can beat the Pacers and Knicks to that goal. Beating the Rockets? I don't know. But at least they make it for the first time since they were in a much different cultural environment in St. Louis. Instead with Danny Manning, the Hawks lose in the 2nd round to the Pacers in 6. This has to be the worst trade the Hawks have ever made in their time in the peach state. It cost them a potential ring. Dominique's time with the Clips should have never happened.
But hey, those are just my thoughts. Let me know how you would think this...very odd franchise would do in this scenario. See you for the Grizzlies. God help their massive disadvantage of being a young franchise.
Bob McAdoo won 2 Championships with the "PurpleGold" as a backup........💜💛
Cutino Mobley & Corey Maguette lowkey underrated, even young odom could've maybe sniped a spot but at least made honorable mentions 💯
Quentin Richardson too
@@andresdelportillo9917 facts
I'd start DeAndre Jordan at center and likely give him the majority of the minutes at center because this team does not have many great rebounders and Jordan is a beast on the boards. That said, Clippers have one of the best two way starting lineups on the perimeter and I love the versatility the bench provides. There are several underrated players on the bench such as Cassell, Brand, Harper, Manning and Wilkins. I think I would replace Smith with Baron Davis because of the ball handling Davis can provide.
If I don’t see cages on here imma lose it 😂
Nope, I think you pretty much nailed this one
Let the memes begin
Is the all-time Clippers team the most volatile roster to ever be assembled????
9:19 who is this guy and why is he throwing these passes??? nuts
Rough that the Clips have to include a 24-game career to round things out
Clippers legend Loy Vaught didn’t even make the honorable mentions 😭. Nonetheless really good squad
I would put Baron Davis in Sam Casell spot, Lamar odom in danny manny spot and Cuttino Mobly in Smith's spot
Bob McAdoo - "only players with this stats" - did Wilt Chamberlain not exist in this world you're describing?
That stat is implying that specific season. Wilt was retired during McAdoo’s prime
Corey Maggette is the biggest snub, I think this is a good roster though
McAdoo
Brand
Leonard
Free
Paul
Griffin(PF)
George(SF with Clippers)
Jordan(C)
L. Williams(PG)
R. Harper(SG)
LAST 3:
Redick(deadly pure shooter with the Clippers)
Wilkins
Manning
SOMEHOW, I MISSED ON RANDY SMITH; HE'D REPLACE HARPER. WHILE LEONARD AND GEORGE ARE EXCELLENT 3 PT SHUETERS, I THINK REDICK IS ONE OF THE DEDLIEST SHUETERS IN HISTORY.
Bob MaCadoo the legend
I don't think a player with only 25 games played should be in that team's all time line up. Looking at you Dominique.
🏀
I gotta put Odom as my last man. Way too versatile to pass up
If we are taking 'Nique in because he played 25 or so games for the Clippers then we definitely should take in Walton aswell. Baron Davis was also miles better than Cassell so Davis should be in aswell. We can also argue that Odom should deserve atleast a rotation spot. All in all having DeAndre Jordan in the team shows some massive recency bias. I would take in Walton and/or Kaman into the team over him.
These guys might qualify for the Ultimate Injury team. I can see it now. First round of the Ultimate playoffs, the Clips are somehow in it after two games. CP3 pulls a hamstring and is hobbled the rest of the way. Kawhi goes down ten minutes later when his knee implodes. Paul George simply evaporates in the next game, like a victim of the Infinity Gauntlet. Minutes later, Blake Griffin will soar through the air to dunk over two Kias, a Hyundai, and an abandoned Suzuki Samurai, only to wind up with hairline fractures of his knees and feet as the backboard rattles. Bob McAdoo, who never even played for the franchise in LA, winds up the last man standing. James Harden, who isn't even on this Ultimate squad, calls out Jonny Arnett for putting this team together and demands a trade at halftime of game 3.
Seriously though, you know you're really needing to reach when 25 games of post-Achilles recovery is enough to warrant someone being on even the second team here. Tons of respect for the Human Highlight Reel, but it just doesn't feel right to include him here. Then again, who else do they have for the second team that's really better than the third of a season he gave the Clips?
Kudos for putting this one together. The franchise just doesn't have the depth to compete with practically anyone else in the NBA though. If they even make the playoffs, they'd likely be run off the floor in 4 games, 5 at most.
Hey Johnny what can you say about Tim Cons new propaganda againts kobe?
Damn Paul Pierce ain’t make the honorable mentions list? 😂
Gimme Lamar over Danny, but that's it... other than that I think it's perfect... Jamal Crawford isn't even on the H.M.s 😭
PG Chris Paul
SG Randy Smith
SF Corey Maggette
PF Blake Griffin
C Bob McAdoo
PG Ron Harper
SG Eric Piatkowski
SF Ken Norman
PF Elton Brand
C DeAndre Jordan
11 Loy Vaught
12 Danny Manning
13 Ivica Zubac
What about harden should he be in the ultimate team?
He hasn't even played a game for them
😂😂😂😂 bro just Got there
I'm surprised Jamal Crawford wasn't a honorable mention
How do you not have LOU WILLIAMS IN THE THIS TEAM!!!!
Lou Williams lowkey would’ve been great on this squad
I’m NOT A CLIPPER FAN NOR AM I FROM LA; but Having Dominique Wilkins in this video is insane!!!!!! He’s played for Boston too but are we really counting his Celtics years!!!!!! 2
Danny Manning the greatest clipper of ALL-Time especially if we talking (LAC)and he’s barely even on the team Insane.. PLUS You blow a chance to give the Kids some one to look up!!! WOW DOG I LOVE YOUR SHOW BUT YOU GOT THE CLIPPERS THING WRONG!!!! I get it but, you’re laker bias showed
