  • The Audiolab 6000A and 6000A Play have proven to be incredibly popular Integrated Amplifier solutions, now Audiolab has taken it upon themselves to kick things up a notch with the new Audiolab Omnia, a true all in one solution. How how does it compare?
    For more information on the Audiolab Omnia amplifier check our our website: www.lenc.com.a...
    The All Encompassing Audio Solution
    Blurring the lines that generally differentiate hi-fi and lifestyle, Omnia brings all of the pedigree that helps make Audiolab electronics the connoisseur’s choice. Yet, indulgence in design, material aesthetics, and useability mean it has all of the functionality to make it a sleek, convenient and easy-to-use centre-piece, for an uncompromising home audio system.
    The Audiolab Omnia maintains the award-winning, instantly recognisable, Audiolab design cues. Unfussy yet striking in appearance, the curved, brushed aluminium chassis is ‘typical Audiolab’ but evolved to suit the modern-day living environment. Omnia is attractive but discreet, offerring the perfect balance for living rooms and listening rooms alike.
    In a world where music is more available than ever and sources more varied than ever, Omnia doesn’t discriminate. However you listen to your music, Omnia has got you covered. To sum it up, the Audiolab Omnia is a cd player, integrated amplifier, wireless streaming player, DAC, headphone amplifier, and pre-amp - in one single unit!
    High-Performance CD Drive
    Extremely robust and reliable; the Omnia’s CD drive builds on the class-leading 6000CDT CD transport with a read-ahead digital buffer to reduce disc-reading failures. Such is the performance of this CD mechanism, Omnia is able to play scratched and damaged CDs that are unreadable by conventional mechanisms.
    Connectivity Options for Traditional Audio Sources
    Utilising high-quality analogue preamp circuitry, akin to the acclaimed Audiolab 6000 series, coupled to line-level RCA inputs to connect analogue sources, the preamp circuitry is kept as simple as possible. Using high-quality components to maintain signal purity, with line input signals passing to a precision analogue volume stage, Omnia is an outstanding pre-amp, in its own right.
    A dedicated MM phono input means a turntable can be directly connected to Omnia via a high-quality, low-noise, phono stage with precise RIAA equalisation. This phono stage is continue evolution on the award winning 6000 series - engineered to make the most of the music nestling within an LP’s grooves.
    Networked Audio Playback
    For networked audio playback, the Audiolab Omnia is equipped with an ethernet port, lending itself to a wired connection and the wider bandwidth requirements of high-resolution digital audio.
    For the most convenient access to wireless music playback, Omnia offers Bluetooth connectivity with high-quality, low latency, with the Bluetooth aptX standard.
    The 6000A Play’s Wi-Fi networking is powered by DTS Play-Fi: an app-controlled platform enabling high-quality, whole-home wireless audio, capable of streaming hi-res music up to 24-bit/192kHz and supported by a greater range of established audio brands than any other wireless platform.
    USB DAC Section & More
    The USB DAC section is based upon Audiolab’s long-term partner, and multi-award-winning, pedigree. The new ESS9038 Q2M SABRE 32 Reference DAC performs D/A conversion, utilising ESS Technology’s 32-bit HypersStream II architecture and Time Domain Jitter Eliminator to deliver ultra-low noise and high dynamic range.
    No company knows more about making the most of this technically excellent, but challenging, DAC technology than Audiolab; the universally acclaimed M-DAC was one of the first home audio components to incorporate an ESS chip back in 2011, and the company has been honing its implementation ever since.
    Via the USB DAC section, the Audiolab Omnia also offers full decoding of MQA (Master Quality Authenticated). MQA is an award-winning British technology that delivers the sound of the original master recording. The Omnia includes MQA decoder technology, which enables you to play back MQA audio files and streams - received via the USB input - at the original file’s full resolution and passes the signal through its DAC and preamp stages. MQA files are available via subscription to TIDAL’s ‘HiFi’ tier (among other sources).
    IPS LC Display
    Firmly planting itself as a very useable piece of high-tech equipment, the Audiolab Omnia makes use of a colour IPS LCD display, offering a higher clarity of colour and lower power consumption than TFT displays. Via the captivating display, the Audiolab Omnia offers a simplified general user interface and a graphical integration with your music source and playback formats. It also uses a brand new protocol for a real-time VU meter display, adding a touch of hi-fi finesse to the very functional, equally good-looking, display interface.

    I run the Omnia on a pair of Elac 247.3 and the Elac Sub 2030, the ensemble sounds very linear in all bandwidths; I'm thrilled with the sound experience.

    I bought an Audiolab 6000A Play amp and tried out Tool (after watching this video) and I heard 2 tracks, they sounded great. Like between rock and heavy metal, and they sounded good all through with no fatigue through the Audiolab. The sort of sound that makes me not want to hear it through any other amp. So clear with that tuned in hard rock bottom bass and voice that is definitely there but never fatiguing and clear hard clangy cymbals but never fatiguing. So well recorded!

      Tool are always a great band to benchmark systems with, especially in the Metal space where great recordings and masterings aren't super common!

    Thank you for the review. I bought the omnia for my evo 4.2 and without knowing your video I immediately found this midrange presence.i also found not enough current for the evo 4.2 which are quite difficult speakers to control.

    Thanks for another great review.
    How would you compare the sound signature to the 8300A?
    I can't find any reviews on the 8300A.
    Would love a video covering that amp.

    • @living_entertainment
      @living_entertainment  Před 2 lety

      That's a good question, we would have to do some direct comparisons.
      The 8300 series is getting a little older (going onto 7 years) now so i'm not surprised people haven't been covering it, but we will take that though on board.

      We aren't a NAD dealer so we haven't done direct A/B comparisons. In our experience however Audiolab does punch well above its price point in terms of performance.

    Can you only get hi res with the use of a pc connected to it most of the phone apps are only cd quality i assumed it might play the likes of Qobuz directly in hi res otherwise you might as well play AirPlay into a sky box connected to a DAC

    Hi, I’m considering buying the Omnia and interested in hearing what you would you think of pairing it with B&W 603 s2. My Marantz SR6007 blew and I need to replace, but I thought that as a purely stereo system it didn’t work that well and I’m looking to replace it with a stereo receiver.

      Audiolab's sound has definitely changed a lot over the years so I imagine it would be a noticeable improvement, particularly how big a jump will be however is another question entirely.

      If you don't want CD or have one, go for the basic Audiolab 6000A. I have the Play variant and it's a grand cheaper then this one in the video and the basic 6000A would be even cheaper. Like a grand in America for it. And the both variants have exactly the same amp and so does this one in the video (see Andrew Robinson's review of the one in this video). My Play 6000A (with the streamer) was $1,600 in Australia (more expensive than in America). And the basic 6,000A (without streaming) would be cheaper. The best tranny amp I ever heard by a mile! A YT channel tested the 6000A against all the other integrated amps (for the price) and a consistent difference was in the voice sound. The 6000A was more airy and 3D in the voice and the rest had that in the box sound that was (annoyingly) more "muddled in". This was consistent (as I pointed out). To find that ch just search "Audiolab 6000A conparison". It may become apparent who that uploaded is when you scroll down.

    Unfortunately the play-fi Mediaserver integration is totally crap. It's completely unreliable in finding the music and if it has it quite often looses connection. Needless to say that other Mediaserver clients I own have no problems at all. A shame for such a product.

    • @michaels.7562
      @michaels.7562 Před 2 lety

      In the meantime I learned (not from Audiolab or DTS of course) that all streaming data is routed through the app on the mobile device. That's why it's totally unstable if you do something else on your device while it's streaming. The app is not just a remote control as it is for Chromecast. Unbelievable. I now use a mobile device just for play-fi and it's more stable now.

    • @michaels.7562
      @michaels.7562 Před 2 lety

      And even later I learned about the "transfer to device" feature, which will let the Omnia directly access the stream source. A little clumsy but acceptable.
