  • Well, nearly everyday flooding has momentarily paused. I found two upper sections that were fishable and both were new to me. The first was a complete bust. Plan B was good, with brookies (12") and browns (16") to hand. Probably 25 to hand total. Ran into a fly fisherman and made a new friend. Looks like there may be a lull in weather, I even spotted this thing they call the sun! Happy fishing!!

I fished Vernon County (southern Driftless Area) today and was happy to find the streams in great shape. Water levels were up and running mostly clear. The last couple of big storms in the area flushed out a lot of silt and weeds. I spent more time in the stream wading than I normally do, and was reminded why I don't like to. Ended up in some knee-deep muck myself that took way too much effort to extract myself from. Great video Ron! That 16" Brown looked like a bruiser.

Nice to run into a fellow angler! The rain we have been getting has been nuts.

A good day after all. Yea, finding a deep mucky spot can be downright nasty. That one 16" brown was spectacularly beautiful.

Very cool you ran into a good fellow fisherman, good video, after that muck I suspect you appreciated the ride back to the car for sure.

The biggest scare I ever got on a trout stream was when a mother duck came across the stream after me on a dark, moonless night. (Yes, I stared down a cougar about 20 feet away on the streambank from me just at dusk.)

Good to see things return to normal. I was in Westby over the weekend. Not asking for a spot burn just curious about the general area you were fishing. I left Sunday morning and the Kickapoo was chocolate milk. Thanks.

I am in the far western driftless. Main rivers were still stained today. In this video I was in upper sections of secondary streams. It gonna take a while to clear if no more storms come. Happy fishing!

Try Alaska! You got nothing even close! Real simple!😳😂🤣

For sure, the driftless is likely the best collection of trout streams in the lower 48 only. And certainly the lake run fish in the great lakes do not compare to Alaska's ocean run salmonoids. I have a question though. Do brook trout range that far north or are you looking at artic char and grayling? Magnificent fish, just curious if you have brookies? Happy fishing!

@@WisconsinTroutFishing we actually have brook trout but only in a few places here in southeast Alaska. Mostly sea run cutthroat, Dolly Varden and rainbows, grayling are only found up farther north.😉👍
