Still upset that 2012 didn't do a threeway crossover with both the 1987 and 2003 Turtles.
Ok
It would be hard with the difference in dimension
Their might a reason why the 03 series couldn’t collab with the 2012 series, and why the 03 series couldn’t get the 87 series VAs. The reason being is that the 87 VAS are union based, while the 03 isn’t. The 2012 series is also union based so this why they couldn’t have a collab with the 03 VAs since they aren’t non union.
There's a new TMNT: Saturday Morning Adventures #12 comic book crossover coming out soon. It has turtles from the 80th, 2003, 2012, 2018, maybe they'll do an anniversary cartoon as well.
@@Vishyfishyyah that explains alot
Xavier finally escaped being known as a Spider-man channel, just for him to become a TMNT channel
As someone who hopped from a Marvel hyperfixation to a TMNT fixation over the past 5 years, I see this development as an absolute win.
Sad but true
I can dig it. As much as I love Hitman (DC) comics, it’s not all I talk about.

It’s funny that 2003 shredder didn’t know or care that wiping out reality would kill him too

Favorite joke in the movie: when 2000s Raphael sees the Mirage dimension's level of Frank Miller angst and thinks: "Finally, a universe that gets me."

I just know we're gonna get a TMNT big multiverse thing in a couple years, regardless of whether or not they can get the '03 show rights.
**HIIIII 4thSNAKE LOVE YOUR MORTAL KOMBAT WASTED POTENTIAL VIDEOS TOOO!**
Like the upcoming issues of the Saturday Morning Adventures comic? Cause 2003 Donnie appears in it (along with Mirage Leo, 2012 Mikey, & Rise Raph, plus Jennika from the IDW Comics).
Dude what are you doing here?😮😎🫡
I love the concept of adaptations meeting the source material and I wish it was done a little more.
Yesh
I wish the 2012 show acknowledge the 2003 show. 87 turtles fan revenge?
yeah im legitimately surprised its not done more
@@ElvusmiwProbably.
@@Elvusmiw I suspect it was mostly due to the original cast not being in Turtles Forever. Which seems a bit unfair to the creatives, since it wasn't their decision but just the circumstance of 4Kids and the WGA being in separate universes, so to speak, but in a way, it makes sense not to give those actors lines referencing a project they weren't included in.
The 2012 show did reference the 2003 show in other instances, though. Bishop and Hun, to name two 4Kids original characters who were reimagined for the Nickelodeon series.
I remember the hype for this was pretty insane back in 2009. Like, we're all kind of checked out of multiverse stuff these days, but back then you just didn't really see it. You had like the one episode of the 90's Spider-Man show, but even then those weren't older versions of Spider-Man we knew, they were made-up ones specifically for that episode.
As a finale to the 2003 show I think it's great. It gives all the characters a nice send-off and largely makes up for the lackluster last two seasons of the show. The depiction of the Mirage Turtles is also great, and I love their constant Frank Miller-style narration still being there.
It's with the 87 Turtles that things get kind of wonky though. I get they were trying to have a '03 Turtles think the 87 ones are super lame, and then they got to the Mirage universe and the Mirage Turtles think the 03 ones are lame, so they learn to appreciate each other' kind of thing, but, they really do go too far some places. Like portraying the 87 Turtles as cowards is totally out of character and really lame.
Some have attributed this to malice, but I think it's just a result of somewhat sloppy writing. Because the entire arc of the story is that the 03 and 87 Turtles learn to like eachother, so I do not think the intent ever was to make them look lame, it just kind of comes off that way.
Also it was to celebrate the 25th anniversary.
Who's "we're all"?
"they were made-up ones specifically for that episode"
Not entirely made-up.
Yeah, the scenes from the director’s cut literally have the 2003 Splinter admonish his sons for being jerks to their 87 selves. It’s another reason that version of the movie is better.
The 03 series is an amazing, it deserves more respect than it deserved
Baxter Stockman goes through the goddamn ringer in that show and he doesn’t even become a fly like most versions
People love this show, everyone often considers this to be the best incarnation of the TMNT.
@@CrocsFortress It may be, but it gets so much hate too.
@@SandwitchZebra Good, Cyborg Stockman is the better version.

Ah, Turtles Forever… The forgotten crossover of the 80’s Turtles and ‘03 Turtles made as the real Finale to the ‘03 series.
It's what got me interested in watching the '03 Turtles.
I wish we would have gotten A crossover between the 03 and Nickelodeon turtles.
The 2003 series deserves more recognition.
Gotta love how 03 Shredder was killed by the characters the Mirage Comic creators despise
Didn't the 90s Spiderman character still do it first or we not counting that
6:44 They also kinda did this in the 2012 crossover, but at least it made a little more sense. They were worse at fighting because they weren't able to lean on toonforce to back them up.
90s spider-man did it first and at the time it was the best
DC did it first with Crisis on Infinite Earths lmao

@@Mr.MaguroDC did it first with The Fuckin Flash.
Into the Flashver… no. No that doesn’t work.
I love the prime turtles' voices. Just how they manage to capture the gritty seriousness of that first issue. I also just find it funny how they have the deepest and groughest voices even though they'd canonically be younger than the 80s and 2000s turtles
A problem I've had with crossovers for years now, is that they will have a bias towards one side, and the other gets shafted. I think the biggest example I have for this is Teen Titans vs Teen Titans Go. Where the "Go" titans literally get shit on the entire movie in some way. I found it really annoying because I was just like "OK WE GET IT THE OG'S ARE BETTER GOD. I FIGURED THAT OUT THE FIRST 97 TIMES, 2 through 5000 GOT A BIT TIRING." So yeah, I feel like recent crossovers have struggled with this a lot in some way or another.
NWH I think for the most part did the well but we did have to make a joke out of Harry's death. Truly an MCU moment
@@downspiral ehh it's James franco.
@@oymspyda good point
At least dumping on the characters who are native to the universe instead of the guest characters is a change of pace
Well, that's kind of what the entire series does whenever the OG is mentioned, plus I question the writers for rubbing it in all of the time that the old show is never coming back but also it's funny to always bring up in some way that the old one is better so they can tease the fans of the old series and the fans who are haters of the new one just to get more views or publicly
The 2003 series originally aired on FoxBox, who also dealt with 4Kids. That's where "Sonic X" premiered. I think TMNT wasnt on the 4KidsTV until "Back to the Sewers", but i didn't grow up with that Saturday morning block. I grew up with Kids WB.
Also due to Union laws , the 2012 TMNT can't crossover with the 2003 TMNT
Really? Is it becuase of where Nickelodeon is based in?
I’m sure it’s possible. I mean, Sam Riegel and Michael Sinternaklaas (The voices of 2003 Donnie and Leo) have done voices in Union shows like Ducktales 2017 and The Venture Bros.
I’m sure it could happen.
@@misterzygarde6431 yes
Personally, I choose to believe in Phelan Porteous' theory that the 1987 turtles in this movie are not the actual turtles from the 1987 series, but rather a much dumber and sillier version of them from a dimension separate from the real 87 dimension.
we can pretend they're the cartoon all-stars/operation blue line turtles
@@NovastarDoughnut
They can't be the Operation blue line turtles. Their mouths actually move when they talk!
I like to think the ones from turtles forever are different while the 87 tmnt from the 2012 crossovers are the originals. My evidence, the voices
They are the same turtles, but before they appeared in Turtles Forever 87 turtles ate some pizza with funny looking mushrooms and got high.
I like Phelous as well, but it was one of his weakest reviews especially in the 87's next crossover in 2017 for the finale to 2012, he found them extra obnoxious that the 87 are overplayed as goofballs.
Honestly, I wish they would take advantage of the 1987 series setting more. If characters from another version of the Turtles enter the 87 universe, the rules of that world should force them to become more susceptible to cartoon logic and slapstick antics. Imagine if 87 Leonardo used the rapid strike technique against 2003 or 2012 Leonardo's sword, and it causes their weapon to shatter into pieces like in the 87 cartoon? They'd be speechless!
I hope the 2003 version gets more attention in modern media, cause it really is one of my favorite 2000's series, let alone TMNT adaptations.
4:20 to answer tour question. It was called Cubix. I used to watch the show back in my youth i even owned the toy of thr orange flying robot back then as well as the PS1 racing game back then
I wishi could find is but I remember seeing a deleted scene from when the shredder from the original mirage comics shows up at the end when they were in the turtles prime universe. He shows up, has a little badass monologue, then just gets trash cans tossed at him making him fall to his death (I'm assuming he dies since he doesn't doesn't appear again after). Funny playing with expectations. Oh crap they have to deal with another shredder oh wait never mind. Always made me laugh. Quick scene not even two minutes long if I remember correctly but still a good hilarious thing that was a shame they cut.
In the 2012 show Karai meets the 1987 turtles and is freaked out about how weird and bug eyed they look and they're so offended it's hilarious. I was laughing the whole time. Wish 2003 got more acknowledgement
I'll forever love the Turtles Forever for finally Turtle Prime voices, an awesome, an animated artstyle! You have no idea how badly I want THE Turtles to have their own show or even movie series.
14:28 omniverse makes this make sense
I remember hearing the Phelous review on this same episode and I always thought "aren't you being a little too pedantic?". I'm glad that your love for the series doesn't write out the reality or behind the scenes work, in favor of insisting that "the 80s turtles WERE better".
You missed the point of it. That’s what makes Turtles Forever a bad crossover made only to shit on the 89 Turtles and praise how much better the 03 Turtles was. It was made out of spite. The 89 turtles was silly, no doubt but never to the point of being too retarded to get the job done. They were still good at being heroes, A good crossover lifts up both parties and can knock on flaws both parties had. TF constantly made fun of “cowabunga” but never once mock the catchphrase of then 03 series “what the shell.” There was a bias there. No Way Home showcased the strengths of all three Spider-Man and the weaknesses of them all, even Tom despite it being his movie.

YEAH! Turtles Forever...well, forever!
Though if you want to see them disrespect the 80s turtles, watch the 2012 crossover, they do MAD disrespect (which is ironic given how much respect was paid to the legacy otherwise), taking literally every pot shot they can towards almost every aspect. This meanwhile took a few pot shots, but it's to a more reasonable degree, at least in comparison.
We've got this on VHS recorded a few times over, since my folks and I loved watching this so much. I had no idea of an extended version though.
I'd love a big 4 cartoon crossover between 80s, 2003, 2012, and Rise, that would be pretty sick.
Either way, it nice seeing a guy I watch actually review this. That Emilio fellow is the GOAT.
Took more pot shots, but I would argue that was more ribbing. 03 did less, but they felt far more spiteful, in my opinion. I'm not even saying either special is great, but if we're talking who seemed meaner, I'd go with cowering in a corner at one point 03.
I found it weird when two of the '87 Turtles almost get hurt and they go off crying, CRYING to '03 Leonardo who was holding them saying "there, there." Also, wasn't this movie James Avery (Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince) last movie before his untimely passing?
No, he didn't voice Shredder in this.
Your TMNT vids are always my favorite! Great vid
Turtles forever was rougj though. They kept attacking the 80's show for silly stuff (even though a lot of silly shit happened in the 2003 show)
It is amazing to me how much April has changed throughout the years.
Finally CZcams notified me of your video.
Let's go more TMNT
I hope they the same for Unite two universes, the Earthspark Universe with the G1 Universe, and third universe I would choose is Transformers Prime.
So basically into the turtle verse
Pretty good video GM, it was great to be reminded of this tmnt crossover film.
I remember watching it when I was around 10 and one of my favourite jokes was 1987 Raph breaking the tension of a fight to break the fourth wall.
The Flashes of Two Worlds storyline did essentially function as the meeting of two generations of the same brand. Sure, Jay Garrick and Barry Allen only shared super hero identities and weren't literally the same guy, but they still came from what where then seen as mutually separate worlds (as the shared multiverse weren't a thing yet) that temporarily united in a story that essentially represented "Your dad's Flash meets your Flash!".
One thing to add in 87' Turtles favor is how all movies take more elements from that show, even 2003 series one took a couple of elements from the 87 show like the mask colors and Usagi's friend Ginoski dressing like Rocksteady.
Spider-Man actually did in the 90s near the end of the animated series. But, yeah, I kind of wish they did this with the other TMNT shows since as well.
This is my gold standard of "multiverse crossover", it's fun, creative, and a great tribute to all things TMNT. Plus the 2012 cross-over giving the original voice cast a chance to come back is super awesome :)
To think that Turtles did it TWICE, once before Spider-Verse and again only a year after the Spider-Verse comic finished... Kinda ironic.
I've heard some fair criticism about this flick but man I thought it was every bit as fun as it should be. I've never regretted watching it anytime I put it on
They actually done it twice. The 87 turtles teamed with cgi ones, not sure what year.
I really wish the Prime/84’ turtles were more utilized in common media now. They’re by far the coolest iteration of the turtles and stylistically are more rugged and mature. I’m really glad they were included in this movie
Since the 80’s turtles are the ones that keep crossing over, it would be great if the next time they do, the 80’s Donatello makes a comment to the new Leo or someone like ‘Wait, this is the first time this has happened to you? This is like the 7th time for us, we assumed all of you guys met up more often.’
I wouldn’t say TMNT did it first since STAS final episode was basically into the spiderverse and that came out way before this movie
Holy shit, after watching this, I just realized I’ve been watching your vids for 8 years, thx for never giving me and saving me from boredom Xavier. Love you man 🙏

No offensive, the full cut has never been "lost media..."
There's also that weird retcon that the 1987 Krang is the cousin of Kraang Sub-Prime and that he was actually a member of the 2012 Utrom/Kraang race who got banished to the 1987 Earth for....trying to blow up other dimensions instead of invading them, I guess.
Instead of him being like a brain lizard thing that lost his body or whatever that original plotline was in the Red Sky season.
Half of this is memory from my quarantine binge of 2012 and the other half is from James Rolfe's 1987 TMNT retrospective.

Turtles Forever was so damn good. Oh my gawd.
Turtles Forever was pretty cool, as were the 2 1987-2012 crossovers.
Funny enough that both the 2003 animated series & 2012 CGI series end with those turtles crossing over with the 1987 turtles & even the Foot Clan from that series.
You know what I'd like to see?
A theatrically released TMNT multiverse movie, which can either crossover 1987, 2003, 2012 & Rise or crossover 90s, 2007, Bay (Michael Bay produced) & Mutant Mayhem.
Yeah, so either a TV series crossover or a movie crossover, as some people have said to me that having too many different teams of turtles (both movies & TV shows) together might be disastrous & poorly done.
I forget the exact details, but they implied they didn't like the idea of too many different turtle teams working together.
But the movie could be titled, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtle-Verse.
Imagine the Rise turtles having to deal with a few different villains from past shows, like 1987 Shredder & Krang or Lord Dregg, 2003 Hun or Viral & Sho'Kanabo from Fast Forward or Master Khan from Back to the Sewer & also 2012 Bebop & Rocksteady or even the Mutant Mayhem turtles dealing with past movie incarnation villains like 1990 movie Shredder & maybe also Tokka & Rahzar from TMNT II, the 2007 movie 4 Stone Generals & also Bay movie universe Bebop & Rocksteady and/or Krang.
Just like Spider-Man: No Way Home, villains from past show or movie incarnation somehow get transported to the current TMNT show or movie universe & those turtles have to deal with them, but the past show or movie turtles will show up to help.

With how streaming services like to trade rights around around and how any crossover type thing tends to get delisted or some other such copywrite malarkey I feel like it’s only going to get harder to find a legitimate copy of these things.
At the very least it’s happened with other properties. Preservation of media shouldn’t be this hard in this day and age but the corporate ghouls LOVE to ruin everything for the rest of us.
