- Secret Pat Ramsey Lick and Lesson. This is Pat Ramsey harmonica lesson #6 ! Today we're really unlocking a LOT of pats secrets here by breaking this particular lick down and getting to play around and create mental visual maps of the available chromaticism on hole 4. I'm using a "C" Hohner Golden Melody by Tom Halchak of Blue Moon Harmonicas in the Key of "G" (2nd Position).

Get the pleasure to randomly see
The greatest harmonica player play at the local American legion hall. Pat set a high ball for a young kid wanting to learn. Thanks for this.
Jason, I travelled down the Delta last April for 3 weeks on Greyhound and Amtrak, staying for 6 nights at the Shack up Inn. While I was walking the 3 miles from town to the Shack, a guy stopped and offered me a lift. It was Deke Harp and he has a shack on the same site as the hotel. What a great guy he is. Loved Clarksdale and the people are fabulous. Enjoy the seminar. Love from The Pyrenees.
What a cool story! Deak is a real awesome dude.
Adishatz!
Jason, I especially appreciate these shorter videos. These "simple" lessons give some of us information we can work with for the rest of our playing lives. Thanks for all you do for us. See you in Cleveland.
Thank you see you there!
I love your impromptu for free Fridays. They are always some of the best! Fans like myself love seeing glimpses into your personal life and world. You are by far one of the most relatable personalities on CZcams. We just have the great fortune of you also being one of the most creative and outstanding harmonica players!
And, a HUGE Thanks to Pat Ramsey for any and all influence he had on your development!!
🤘😸🤘
Awe shucks Sage you're too good to me! ❤️ 💙 💜
Thanks for the Pat Ramsey stuff Hason as he was my main inspiration and friend,so honored to have known him and you.
❤️ 💙 💜 💖
Man!! Driving from New Orleans to Clarksdale Mississippi to a Blues Gig🕶️🙏🏻🎼💨💨 That‘s one of my dearest dreams😀 I am sitting here in Blackwood Forest-Southern Germany, watching Jason Ricci Videos. Almost as good!! 😀 Thanks Bro et Bon Voyage
❤️ 💙 💜
Thanks for another Free Friday. What would I like to see you do?
If this is the start of a new ‘travelling lesson’ segment, maybe you could try a lesson on a skateboard. That way you could avoid oncoming traffic and use both hands on the harp. As an ex skater from 1970s, I’d pay to see that!
Cheers from Spain and viva Stacy Peralta ✌️
My favorite a pat Ramsey lesson
What a pleasure to see the fields of Mississippi in the background accompanied by some blues sounds from your harmonica, a dream come true to go in that car, thank you friend for so much
Many thanks MOJO! Thank you dearly for watching and commenting!
I use my GPS I got from AARP. It not only gives excellent directions, it also tells me why I'm going there.
Great lesson!!! Good luck on the road! I listened to your recordings with Kell and they are insane ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Thank you, Jason. It's probably been a hundred years since I've been to your place on Fridays. Here we finally succeeded.👍🙂
That Big Sky of The Delta! I was there in 2015 on Highway 61. Give my love to Clarksdale 💙😎
enjoy clarksdale had a great few day there a few years ago great vibe for any blues fans
I was just thinking, the other day, "I wonder when Jason is gonna do another Pat Ramsey Lick video," and here you are! YAY!!! Thanks for this simple but effective, moveable lesson.
It inspired what turned into nearly two hours of practice, starting with this lick and then exploring all kinds of interesting tangents. This lesson made me _notably_ better!!!
❤️ 💙 💜
Ouf.. loved it . Much technical when one concentrates on it . ❤
The rite of passage to all bluesman (and blueswomen) out there, going down to the Crossroads.
Hi Jason, thank you for your weakly lessons! Love them!
How about another one about the hill country cotton patch soul style like Jr Kimbrough or RL Burnside?
Take care 😊🙏
Cool Free Friday! You driving in the Delta brought back great memories from my trip this winter. Went to Clarksdale and hung out a bit with Deak and went to his gig at the Hambone. If you get the chance tell him Steve the guy in the old motorhome says hey! Wish I could be there this weekend, sounds like a great time! Cool lick to practice with it's getting added to my looong list of licks. Have a great weekend Jason 🙏😎💙🎶
Will do! ❤️
Hey, Jason, sorry to say but first thing I thought when saw you play harp and drive "that's a fat fine down here!!!". Man, I know you have both skills really automatized - plus talking - but for goodness sake take fucking care, my Mooncat!😜
Playing while driving is the most harmonica player thing ever 😂😂
@@PepperoniePlays I know, I know - I'm just jealous for apart from it's fineable in my area I'm lefty and drive a gear shifted car🤦♂😅
Jason knows what he is doing. He could probably put both hands on the harp and steer with his knees and still be okay 👍
Love it! So cool seeing the Mississippi Delta in the background, too. Thanks for another awesome lesson
Greatest Harp player Better Man 🙏🏽😎
Awe shucks! Thank you! Lots of room for improvement in both places is an understatement!
You have probably done a video on this, or at the least most of your videos have this concept, but I would like a video breaking down your specific style. Your "go-to's" and the specific nuances that really only you do.
Deak Harp, one of my favorites!
Fantastic lesson! Thanks Mooncat, keep on keeping on brother!
So good to hear you playing!
We did not do this exact one so I’m gonna add it and practice. Ty sir.
That harmonica looks so dope! is that a custom golden melody?
Yes from Blue Moon. Corian Comb.
"just a quickie..."
Can you do a video on how to play to any and/or other chord progressions other than a standard blues? Nothing against playing to a blues but we should know how to play to any song. May require more than one harp? Either way i think it would be a good lesson. I know its something I've been working on. Not sure you have done a video on that! Thanks for a all your videos you've been a great inspiration going on 2+ years learning harmonica now, I've learned a lot from you I appreciate all the free videos you make even during the bad times. I've been working on my own original music and have had to figure out myself how to play harp to some unconventional type chord progressions that I've made. That's my suggestion for a video topic, I know it must be hard coming up with something new every week but you somehow manage to do it!
Buy yourself a chromatic harmonica and play everything, or every melody you have in your head. Or learn overdraws, over blows on diatonic harp.❤ ❤❤❤
Good idea! I have some videos on songs here that are not standard blues tunes but you're right I should get into more on how to improvise over those changes!
Hey Mooncat I do a similar lick but I like to slow it down and mess with the timing and really bend it hard. Anywho great lesson I hope the van is ok. Good luck.. ALL HAIL FREE FRIDAY !! Austin- 3:17 🌛🐱!!
Wanted this free Friday to be you showing us around your new pad. Next week?
I hope we can get all set up by then. Thank you!! Great idea.
Yo! Was that the general principal you used on your crazy run on“Down at The Juke”?
Shucks bro I'm not sure. Sorry! We can Skype it someday!
Many many thanks. You r the man
You are most welcome ❤️
Jason, I wouldn't have recognized you with your hair covered. Lol
😆
Did you got lessons from mr.Pat Ramsey directly, or only impressions from Pat Ransey made you more perfect as player?
They were close friends, he has a video called "blues stories pat Ramsey" really interesting
@@PepperoniePlays thank you exactly what I was going to type!
❤very good ❤my teacher ❤
Ty❤
Merci JR: question. Are you generally puckering ? On stage ? I struggle to have the good pitch when I bend with tongue blocking …
This lick yes!
🆒🌹👏🏼
not a patreon life a little tough right now like to learn childhood ends Al Wilson 🙏🤔
Do Norton Buffalo " 18 wheels" opening rythym chords.
Hey Jason❤ nice lesson. Thank you. ❤ where exactly in nlues progression to use this lick? Whats your suggestions.
You can absolutely use it anywhere in a Blues progression! ❤️
@@jasonricci thanks man. Love you very much. You're my blues harmonica hero. Like Charlie Christian, like SRV, like Charlie Parker, like Lester Young, like Robert Johnson 😈. You're the Boss, you're the Best. God bless you, dude.
👍🙂
Hey Jason,Can you preview the Will Wilde pedal Is ig worth getting if you already have a clean cat and a delay?Your thoughts?
Shucks I will do it for you soon! I did it already on Patreon so give me a couple weeks. If your getting enough Distortion with the Clean Cat you probably don't need it. The Harp Break is also similar too but a bit more conservative than the wild pedal.
Thank you brother.
🎉🎉🎉 👏👏👏👏😼
Hey Jason can you show ways to play in major
Lots of videos on that here just search the words "Jason ricci, minor"
As i wrote I asked for major not minor
😍🤙🤙❤🤙🤩🤩❤
Hothead Paisan Finishing School?
From the Artist and Graphic Novel writer/artist Dianne Dimassa's comic: "Hot Head Paisan Homicidal Lesbian Terrorist."
I'm a bit shocked that you use 3B. Gussow would say no to 3 blow.. Can't you just tongue block to flick down from 4B to 2D.. Even I can do that.. 😂
It definitely won't sound as good that way and would take considerbally more effort. If you got it down with this lick please post a video! Also please check my video on when 3 blow works better I'm sure Mr. Gussow would agree! ❤️ 💙 💜
@@jasonricci no not the whole lick, I am not that good. But I am getting better at doing licks I transferred from guitar, because I only play harp since 2009 but I played guitar all my life.. 🙂
@@derekfrost8991 ❤️ you rock! The switching direction of breath from 4b to 2d would sound really choppy and would also slow you down a lot. Id be very interested to hear anyone make it work. There are definitely times when 3 blow is extremely useful for smoothness and continuity. ❤️ again I did a whole video on this subject.
@@jasonricci Adam would definitely agree! @gussowsclassicbluesharmoni2726
