Love this man RIP. To those who liked this go check out other Native American comics and give them some support. Laughter is good medicine we all need.
Unfortunately, someone had to ruin that! He was funny. Too bad I only found out about him recently; from fellow comedian Bobby Lee. I thought his named sounded like that of a boring white guy 😂 like if his name was Bob Smith. Shows what I know 😳 Speaking of ‘Bobs’; Bobby said he was a really nice man.
@@Protectobot He often introduced himself as Charlie Hill, Segoli, (Oneida) bc of that but it's not on all the videos now. He was a really nice man, quick wit & perceptive, too. My dad knew him.
This guy was way ahead of his time. I remember the 70s & 80s, Billy Jack, Cher's "half breed" and all that. The culture was trying hard to bring awareness but in conjunction to still having misinformation being taught in elementary school, people think of them as in the past. Just like the unfairness of black history continues to provoke unrest in modern day. In fact, the 80s were a time when anyone could dress in cultural clothing, IE Indian, African, Chinese, and be complimented. Today if I wear my African wraps and colorful dresses I get accused of being racist or being part of the problem. We're in opposite land (remember "opposite day" in school). This 2019-2022 is the pendulum swinging into the darkness - it can only get light from here.
Wow that Manson joke kind of killed his time on the air he's like well that's it goodbye now! Charlie even look surprised with his big smile that seemed awkward
This set is really why comedy is important. You have a means to say to someone, "I know you didn't know any better but would you mind fucking off with that?" without insult.
Remember this monologue when it originally aired particularly the Mazzola and Pacific Ocean bits. Hard to believe Charlie Hill has been gone almost a decade.
It was the end of the show. There was no time left. It was the same with nearly every other comic. The gesture of being at home base after their stand-up was appreciated, no matter how little time was available.
Early 1970’s Charlie Hill is on The Steve Allen Show Charlie Goes On Stage and Before He Knows It Charlie is Covered In Mud and Steve Allen Says “” You Got Your Land Back””
RIP Charlie Hill, so glad you made today's Google Doodle so a new generation can enjoy your performances.

Wishing you and your people the best. My friend is an advocate for the Leni Lenape people...
@@jonneiss7562 Yes. From Indiana. Respect the Lenape always.
Any recommendations? I'd love to dig in.
Been looking all over for the "Playing Catholic" bit! Thanks for posting this, he was ahead of his time
Waaay ahead of his time! He was doggin the white people to their faces and they just laughed it way. Lol. Smh
He was gutsy with a friendly spin. I like it!
I really appreciate that there’s zero internet trolls pushing the dislike button.

damn this audience didn't know what to think, just shows how ignorant people were and still are. this dude was an amazing comic.
what indicates that the audience didn't know what to think/
amazingly anti-white...i guess he's already fucked off back to the Great Spirit
Just anti-imperialist, I believe. All humans should feel that way about war and conquest.
@@Protectobot incl american indians? they obv didnt, considering their multiple internecine genocidal wars.
He killed it with Native audiences. We all have our own flavors of humor. Black folks White folks, Natives etc.

Google doodle brought me here. Wow he was amazing! Wish I would have known about him before feel like I’ve missed out!
this is a certified hood classic!!
Can't believe they cut him off for the Manson joke
They sure did! His eyes told me they did!
06:28 "It's a joke see!" - Charlie Hill crosses the line with David Letterman. Oopsy! Loved it.
Thanks. Good stuff.
I am a rabid fan of comedy and this guy is SO good. Smooth. And slipping in a lot of education. He would've fit right in with Chappelle. RIP.
@2:22 😂 I wonder if he was referring to Iron Eyes Cody who was Italian but played native Americans - shit is hilariouz
I'm here because of google doodle. Holy cow this guy is great!

For one moment only, I don't hate Google. I regret I'd never heard of Charlie. LEONARD PELTIER!!!!
😂😂😂 man, the white people must have felt so awkward

Hey how are ya, Hey how are ya!
One of a kind.
They didn’t give him much time to talk afterwards did they?
It was the end of the show. There was no time left.
It was the same with nearly every other comic. The gesture of being at home base after their stand-up was appreciated, no matter how little time was available.
@@dongiller Ah yeah fair enough, very funny guy.
He was still telling jokes too: too bad he’s gone cos he was funny!
I just realized, the nun joke is most likely a reference to the residential schools…
3:31 I choked so hard laughing!!
He’s pretty funny
Charlie would be so proud of Reservation Dogs.
RIP
Google sent me here 👈🏻
Ah that manson joke is a good one
that "lets play Catholic" bit was hilarious! Glad the internet is good for something other than spreading hate.

Too funny
hs Jim Thrope shit was hilarious
Born again SAVAGE!! 😅
Now that's a big 🎨 hill.ah.rr.re...
I used to be catholic now I am better
😂
Hey Megan
Most of his stuff was truth we just took it as a joke because we’ve never saw natives the same as blacks
Maybe it’s because it’s just that…jokes.
What's in this video is clearly satire reflecting actual truths. That's not hard to see.
Sister Roberto Duran. 😂
😂😂😅
🤣😂🤣😂
🤣
🤣🤣🤣
Trailbreaker
Jim Thornton was the best Olympic champion ever.
he said jim thorpe
Autocorrect strikes again.
Y'all getting roasted.
Let's play catholic 😅😂
Never heard of the guy. No idea why google is celebrating him
He would have turned 71 today.
His shirt looks like a priest's robe.
The creator is everything and he's not happy with the human race
It's a little sad that he was recycling the same material from his bit on the Richard Pryor show 8 years beforehadn.
Sad cos there isn’t gonna be more new material now 😢
Not sad at all..once a great material..always great material
