I own a brand new 12-speed P line - it is just great! Already been touring a bit with it in Normandy - which is not flat - and the Brompton handled it beautifully. I can’t wait to take it on another tour, probably in the south of France. One precision : I have bad knees so I already changed the chainring to 39 teeth, and now I have a real climber of a bike.
Sounds like a nice setup. Im sure you had a good time touring with the P12. I have a P4
I upgraded my C line (6 speed) to 12 speed using an aftermarket kit and a brompton 4 speed shifter. Works great

That's not bad price wise if you ask me. Heck of a lot cheaper than Brompton fitting a Rohloff hub for example, should one be suitable.
From what I have seen of the published gearing data, top gear is very high, possibly so high that it might not get used often. If I remember properly, its something like 120 inches.
Just bought a C Line 6 speed (discounted! Floor model at REI Coop) and wonder if the four-speed derailleur can be swapped in for the two speed. We’ll see? Great video series. Keep surviving!
Hello, may I know how to tighten the 12 speed rear wheel nut? Because I followed the manual to tighten in 8nm, it will get loose when I ride it around one week. My bike is 12 speed T line. Thank
Hi, IO don't have the 12 speed upgrade yet - still waiting. Try contacting Brompton direct
@JulianHutchings And you can see the C line manual its tighten to 18nm. I have sent an email for brompton, and they say they have tested a hundred time and settled.
Honestly why? I have difficulty in using/finding use for all my 6 gears and only a few times I have had - any use at all for the low gears, and had to walk on top! I would love a less heavy functioning "chain gear" instead of the combined 2 times 3 "Superlight" set and you are able to buy a 7 speed wheel and a single changer for those, fitting a Standard Brompton!
But a "hard rolling", small wheeled Brompton is not at all a Racing Bike or MTB, so what use would I have for all the gears, for its mostly lack of speed?
But my now, very much lighter than 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton, at present weighs only 8,5 kilo, and still with its Mudguards, as a "Rainy Dane"! I hope to reach below 8 kilo when the Danish Day of Summer arrives!! Finn. Denmark
By that I'm also an owner of a Vision Kilo based, full Shimano XTR - wheels, disc brakes and gear, Mtb with 33 possible gears! I can't even start on a flat road in the low gears, but riding up an absurd hill, and with a fear of falling backwards over the wheel, they are fine!!! So I'm not against "many gears", but I just have - no use for them on my Brompton, even on the very hilly Island of Bornholm in Denmark, on which I may even need to walk uphill, at times. But buying a bike for that - one time I may need an even lower gear than my present, I would find a waste of money!!! And extra weight. Finn. Denmark
I have the 6-speed from 2007. Looking at it to see if possible to replace the two-cog derailleur with a four cog one? Space is quite tight. Maybe this kit has a narrower sturmey archer unit - or do the P-line/ T-line models have wider rear dropouts?

You may as well give it an extra chainwheel in front. My 2019 Superlight (By now 8,5 kilo, with added titanium and carbon) would by that get 12 gears, for a fraction of the price!
Twelve gears? I had enough trouble choosing which to use out of the six that my C-Line Explore(r?) came with. In practice I would stick it in second gear and switch between the high and low cogs as the fancy took me. Now I've had the Woosh e-bike conversion kit fitted I only need one high ratio gear and let the motor take the strain.

I’ve got a 15 year old 3 speed. The gear range on the 12 speed is a great idea.. however not for 3k… shocked at the price seeing as I paid £500 new…
The price increase of Brompton over the years is crazy. At most it should be 1000
