I planted clumping bamboo many years ago for the same reasons as you did. At first I thought it was nice but as time went by I began to regret planting it. It blocks to much sunlight and is a very dirty plant. Always dropping leaves and growth sheaths. Something is always falling from it. So it definitely increased my lawn clean up. A never ending mess. Now I can’t wait to get rid of it.
I’m familiar with the non clumping bamboo. Used to maintain a property in NJ that had it growing around a pond. Every year I spent a good day cutting it back to its original location, knowing I’d be doing it again!
Thanks for the video. Nice yard by the way. I currently have probably 500 ft of clump bamboo. Some here when I bought the house and some I planted myself. All are about 15 years old and all I can say about your bamboo is kill it now lol. Unless it’s some kind of hybrid small clump bamboo. Man I planted mine without knowing to put a in-ground barrier and now some are 8 feet in diameter at the base have completely encompassed my fence. They are like possessed plants from hell. They droop over so much it’s almost a full time job to keep it in check. Looking at the area you planted yours I would seriously consider some metal flashing along the bed. In a couple of years it will be pushing your wooden fence. Thanks again for your video’s.
Doc, I have one Seabreeze bamboo and it has grown like crazy in less than a year. Just wait until it gets the heat next season, it will explode… LOVES the heat
Thanks for the short and to-the-point video, Doc. Definitely need to see how that clumping bamboo progresses in future videos. Even though it's not as aggressive as the running kind, will the clumping bamboo still need ongoing trimming and maintenance to keep it from spreading beyond that fence area and taking over your yard?
Doc I have a question about the fall pre-emergent treatment plan. When you do your fall pre-emergent do you also do the split treatment then with the liquid a couple weeks later or do you only do that during the spring?

Beach house is looking good Doc!!
Planting any bamboo is nuts. besides it's illegal in some states to plant "spreading" bamboo.

Should you still put a barrier between you and your neighbor so that the rhizomes/stolen doesn’t move to their yard?
This stuff grows like Burmuda grass around here! On 🔥!
