@@luciehanson6250 Yes. It's raining alright. We've seen a lot more rain than this before. I think it was 2017 or 18? I was measring the rainfall in West Sonoma Country (the county where Santa Rosa is located), and I measured more than 9 inches of rain in less than 18 hours - that's like the Amazon! Now we're forecasted to get "Up to" 5 inches by Tuesday and everybody is freaking out...

@Version Ten point oh I didn't say it was. I said that Santa Rosa is located in Sonoma County and that I was in the western part of the county (Monte Rio) measuring the rainfall...more than 9 inches in less than 18 hours...and the parts of santa rosa that are flooding right now were somehow just fine with that kind of rainfall...yet somehow, these same areas are now flooding with just a fraction of that kind of rainfall. Why? I'm putting my money on blocked storm drains and creeks...who is responsible for keeping these waterways clear? I will give you a clue - it's not the Republicans

@Version Ten point oh Uhm, they are sorta figurative and in some ways literal type biblical floods. Being big and destructive in many places. It will be some of the most amount of water many have seen in their lifetime over the next few years. The times in the past when these happen where quite devastating. So I am going by past records of this flooding phase. Maybe it won't be the biggest but I do think will be up there. You people are truly clueless sheep. I live in Santa Rosa and there's no danger. The flooding after less than 3 inches of rain is either due to Climate Change or to failure to make sure the local creeks and storm drains are clear. I am putting my money on the latter. This same area has been hit with 10 times the rainfall in the same period of time - just in the last few years alone...and guess what? The grasses on those hills (and mount Bennett) have long since grown back. Why didn't this area flood the winter following the fire - When they got a lot more rain than this current storm...
Another possibility is new construction. I've seen new construction (including adding land fill soils to raise a given area) result in massive flooding in surrounding areas - damaging dozens of homes....

Who is responsible for making sure the storm drains and the creek are clear before what we all knew was going to be a big rain storm? Who is responsible? Is it the homeless population? Why is everything someone's fault? This rainstorm broke rain records that date back to the 1800's. Communities prepared as much as they could. The flooding would have been much worse if the ground wasn't bone dry from 2 very dry years in a row.

@@calcrappie8507 Did you bother to read some of the comments on this forum? Bennett Valley has received far more rain (in a fraction of the time) countless times in the past and these areas did not flood. That means it's somebody's fault. And I've also since read that clean-up crews were busy clearing drains so that the water could flow properly...thus, whoever is responsible for keeping the city's storm drains clear most likely failed to do so before the storm hit.
