Que pasa homes? - ATL Rapper Kap G Heads to Mexico City to Find His Roots
Vložit
- čas přidán 2. 06. 2016
- Born and raised in Atlanta’s College Park neighborhood to immigrant parents from Mexico, Kap G is poised to be ATL's first Mexican-American rap star - one who has made it his mission to be a voice for the culture, overturning stereotypes with his music.
As his star rises stateside, Remezcla took Kap back to his roots: Mexico. We followed him on his first trip to Mexico City, where he had a chance to perform his music as part of Festival Marvin, see a side of his culture he rarely witnessed growing up in College Park, and reflect on his journey as an artist.

Lmao

nigga.. didn't I just comment on one of your posts on Instagram? lol
OnAComeUpChea nah Lmao probably idk what post you talking about
i respect him for wearing that 2pac shirt
mexicans always relate to 2pac like everyone
💯
We love 2pac in Mexico.
Jake Sully that's dope
Pac solidified himself with us because of the struggles he saw.
Then came to live and die in L.A. . Very few people get a pass in every barrio.
Pac could go to a barrio in peace and receive nothing but love.
RICH BLACK KID STFU. Be quiet.😑
I really don't see the problem, there have always been latino rappers since the 90's. South Park Mexican, Lucky Luciano, Fat Joe, Big Pun, Cuban Link, and Noreaga because I think he's half latino. But anyways, Mexicans struggle in america too, just like the blacks but in a totally different way. But hey, thanks to white supremacy that screwed up with both races, blacks and latinos are expected to hate on each other for their skin color. So I think he have every right to rap about how hard he had it growing up in his neighborhood, especially a black neighborhood.
Also kid cudi is also like half Mexican
Dat nigga Roger he is dominican, I had to look that fact up.
Now that's the Truth
word up bruh 💯
W
people hating on Kap-G because his Spanish isn't good. who the fuck cares, he's proud if his roots and is in Mexico because he loves his family culture. besides Spanish comes from Spain, before Mexico was Mexico, the people who were living their were Aztecs and Aztecs didn't speak Spanish
what bro Spain Spanish is not the same Spanish from Mexico get your facts straight .
+Famous JR But he is right about the Aztecs thing
Famous JR Finish school first then talk, but let me educate you. In the year 1519 Hernan Cortez (Spanish Conquistador) and his men arrived to what is now called Mexico. He murdered the Aztecs, raped their women, and brought diseases. The remaining Aztec people were forced to adapt to the Spanish culture including to learn how to speak Spanish. Aztec's had a different language but no one knows what their origin language is because the Spanish erased it from them.
+Chicago Street TV the mejica aka "aztecs" spoke nahuatl
+Chicago Street TV its not a mystery
I was a rapper back in the day, but now I work at Walmart.
Lol
lmfao.
well at lest ju work
Even if for slave master Walmart f

Man, I see a kid with a good & humble heart!! Salute 💯
Idk where most of you that are hating are from but I'm Mexican American from Los Angeles and you see it all here! nothing but love for the carnales and black brothas ✌️️
Ain't this that nigga from Dope? You know the one that gave the Bag Speech.
it is
Yeah looked him up and he is.
I was thinking the same thing
damn. I knew I seen this dude before haha
Yea!!!!!
Police: where r u from ??
Kap G: my parents r frum Mesco but im frum Atlanta
That made me laugh out loud.
This video made me hungry as fuck
2:39 do i grab this with my hand? Lmao😂💀
the Latino community is his biggest critic
his own people smh
Hahahahah
You're own always hates you. And the ones that don't know you always see you as motivation.
in the US we are our biggest critics because historically our people in the US have tried to be everything but Mexican, from being white washed to being black washed. In the 90s Kid Frost released "La Raza" because he noticed our people were ashamed to be Mexican & that brought some pride back. Now our people don't care about their culture/history, are quick to stand up for other people but not their own, are so ashamed of who they are that they are willing to fight their own before gaining understanding & knowledge of their history.
Maybe in the south cause here in eastern WA you’d think his entire fan base is from here
6:20 Nigga like...Hell naw! I saw Annabelle, you aint gettin me with that Mexican Voodoo! Hahaha xD
Bree K. lmao you ain't lying. where u from?
+CHECK OUT MY TRAILER [BASED ON ACTUAL EVENTS] I'm black & Moroccan from Long Beach, CA.... We got our fair share of old haunted houses here too Lol.
Bree K. voodo from africa
There were LOTS of Africans in Mexico at one point. Actually, many Mexicans have African ancestors. Pretty cool!
Bree K. baba is on his way
I've been to mexico three times and it's definitely a cool feeling
the original Mexican rapper is still Carlos coy aka spm
no it aint. I bet you a bandwagon fan
+Cyqro HD I'm from South Texas spm would've first Mexican rapper to make it big if he didn't goto jail
+A Flo he was big. but to say he was the 1st meskin rapper? Grimm was rapping before him
+Cyqro HD grimm was in the same.click w spm and we could go on for days bout rappers but from deep south Texas where I'm at chingo bling pit bull and grimm were opening for spm.
Yea there would be a kap g without spm but we can't to that to our people
I'm 16 and I'm a Mexican rapper as well Kap G is my biggest inspiration I have mad love for all races no matter what real talk. I've been told rap is block people music I've had black people tell me to stop because it's "not my music" but I just ignore that because I know what my music is and Ima keep grindin 🇲🇽💪🏽
Andrizzle_29 im also a mexican rapper, lets make magic bro. Lets do for our cultre my instgram: @pedrosaul.g my email: pedrosaul629@gmail.com
they're just haters... I m Mexican and Guatemalan but I was never told anything lol..
being a first generation immigrant, this made me REALLY happy to see. My view on kap g has definitely changed. I have nothing but respect for him. Too many people like him, end up forgetting their roots and where they came from. This man made a REAL EEFORT to connect with his people. Love this shit.
I've never heard his music but this film is too good representing our culture. Blessings for him, buena mierda.
that was an awesome video I went to Mexico City year ago for the first time it was impressive. I can't wait to go back.
props to the team who did this short documentary it came out really well. 👌
we do everything for 🇲🇽 and respect our culture and out big beautiful country 🇲🇽🐐
@John Doe blacks don't own this country & trump don't like y'all neither bitch
remember him wen he was young went to middle school together he was nothing like rite now.. good work. bro keep it up wuey
Kap G! Ay man keep doing your thang my boy, I said it from the beginning if any Mexican rapper is going to make it big in this rap shit is going to be you. Fuck all these haters talking about you ain't Mexican enough or whatever, just do your thang. I grew up in L.A. listening to all the west coast legends, but it would of been nice growing up listening to a rapper of my color and heritage, and I think I speak for a lot of us. La raza needs you my dude, and we gon support you as long as you keep bringing that fire music.
Thanks for putting your people first 🙏🏾 keep doing what you doing bro my respects 😤💪🏾
yo this the dude from the movie 'DOPE'
U͞ᴋɴᴏᴡɴ lmao i was thinkin that to
U͞ᴋɴᴏᴡɴ He is. He said it in an interview
no it's not
I fuck with him for even acknowledging that his homies are black people. A lot of mexicans be hating hard as fuck on black dudes even though they we're inspired by us in a lot of ways so real for that one
I never heard of this dude but I'm going to check him out because from what I can see from this short documentary he respects the culture he was raised with but also wants to embrace and learn about the culture that made him, fuck how he speaks and raps he's humble and I can dig that.
I'm Mexican and my neighbors are black and I've been cool with they family forever.
+Vincent Olvera that's whats up. Not everybody is like that. That's why Kap G is unique too cuz he hangs with niggas lol you can hear it in his voice he talk like a south nigga i'm6 hours from Atlanta and they talk similar in my city.
This fucking guy don't what he saying there probably a reason Mexicans don't like him . He probably a idiot where most people don't like you . So insecure .....
We inspire each other foo thats how we make movements in this white country
respect for people who are proud of their past and not ignorant to their roots and ancestors... from now on i will bump his music and recommend him...
Been listening to this dude since he first started and shit he's come a long way. Super dope that he actually appreciates his roots and culture. Most people that can speak Spanish fluently can't even get to his level of cultural appreciation. Your own people will always be your number one haters, that's sad. Keep doing you perrito.
Thats wassup G going back to your roots somethin many rappers today aint doin
When you been in that same airport and seen that Mexico sign so many times 😮😮
being humble will create a bigger love from your fans and your on the right path keep up the good work brotha #latinosunites
Keep Grinding Bro. You'll be up their with the best!
Kap G's DNA might reveal through a DNA test that he's part Spanish, Native American, etc; but his souls DNA is part African American. Because Some of our African American Brothers and sisters showed him love and treated Him like one of their own. Thanks to them they helped guide him into becoming the successful raper which he is today. All Mexicans and Mexican Americans should support and admire him. Because even though he may talk and act different he is still Mexican American with an African American soul. There's truly no crime in that. He grew up with his African American bros and sis possibly because it was part of his destiny. We shouldn't judge or hate him for that. He's a true romodel for our Mexican American youth. Showing then that they to can become somebody great in a world that lies to us making us believe that we can only go so far. So let's not judge him and accept him the way that he is. Human beings need to master the art of respecting each other's differences already.
Wooooooooooooooooooooooord! Bitches wooooooooooooooooooooooord!
Fools straight up native barely any spanish like most mexicans in the u.s
this guy has obviously native , European and African features.
@@michaelsanchezjimenez704 dog I don't see the
European or African straight up native
@@ramonmendez8961 it's cause most Mexicans who are "mestizos" are actually more white whether they don't want to accept it... Jessica alba is like 90 -80% European and those native genes are strong.
Really blacks embrace MEXICAN CULTURE and MEXICANS BLACK CULTURE WERE FAMILY LOVE US
And what the fuck are u🤔 cause ... Corey Miller sounds white as fuck 🤣.. awww are u trying to be cool and join whats trending huh .. trying to fit in where you can get in. Cause rock and country music really ain't all that Hip
@@boigold09 if you were going to be racist you could’ve just said that😃👍
@@iamcamendy shut up square raise your hand if u wanna talk to me
Nice to see him go back and this time for him to be able to experience Mexico City!
I am not Mexican, but I highly respect their work in all facets of society. I think it is cool if anyone of any culture researches their background. You go Kap G. I thought you were excellent in Dope. I hope you exceed all your expectations in music, film and beyond. You represent second generation Mexicans in a new way and I think that is great. Do not listen to the haters. Reach for the stars. Some people just can not stand originality.
Shit when I left to Mexico, I was really excited. But you really don't fit in if you can't speak Spanish properly. Many people also be discriminating about how you are from the US and shit and laugh when they hear you speak english. I really do love México but I hate some of its people
Yung Hydrate You’ll find people like that everywhere not just only in Mexico
i respect the struggle and the humbleness. will forever be a fan and Kap G will and is one of my inspiration, being mexican myself growing up ij amerika, ima come up too, thank you kap g!
great video, good reppin! keep doing your thing...
kap-G , King Lil G , Cartel MGM , Snow Tha Product, Reckless Cartel are the future of Latin Hip-Hop
SadBoy Loko too. he was on YG new album he pretty tight to me

GT Garza, Dezzy Hollow good too, GH Pancho is ok
+Albert Varela GT Garza be snappin! TEXAS in tha house!
Chicago Street TV how you gonna forget lil xan, Ramirez, Shakewell, dirty sanchez
Kinda odd his parents came to the u,s which makes him first generation so how is it he won't speak Spanish ? I know 3-4 gen Chicanos who speak proper Spanish no hate thou
His family was the only Mexican family where he is from. So there was much more english use than Spanish
that's what I say don't pretend this nigga here
+Adrian Alaniz i was raised the same way n i speak Spanish fluently
+love n pain hahahaha nigga keep it 100 or the people shut you down my bro is saying the truth Kap G just keep it real.

keeping la cultura viva , Viva Mexico cabrones!! 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Yo! I ain’t ever heard of lil homie ever until this video popped up in my feed. After watching, I wanna know more, hear more. The fact that he is a proud Mexican American man. Just as I am a proud Native American non-binary person. We are the same, indigenous people of the Americas. Also, what topped it for me was to see that he isn’t afraid to show and embrace his culture and spirituality. Him showing his visit to La Virgen de Guadalupe, as a person who grew up in Catholicism, and my native culture. I grew up knowing how important that image is to both our people. I’m glad he was proud to show that. That he’s humble, and greatful for the blessings of his talent. I fux with him now! Big ups lil homie. Continue to make your people proud! La Raza!
much props to Kap G ,love ur music, Keep it doin.
I'm proud a Mexican rapper is making a name for himself, but why does this dude act like he's never come in contact with Mexican culture? Yeah he grew up with mostly blacks but I'm sure his household still was true to Mexican culture being that his parents immigrated from there. It's cool that he fit in with the people around him but it's bogus that he decided to ignore his own culture.
Jonathan Montiel he probably was in the street 24/7 and hardly at home. duhh
Jar B okay so when he had to speak with his parents they had to use hand gestures or some shit? That's doing your parents dirty
Jonathan Montiel we all grow in touch w our roots differently. my mother was raised by an English Irishman in America, but she's bilingual and knows where she comes from. I don't speak Spanish all that well because most of my friends were white and black. I have an accent when I speak Spanish but that doesn't make me any less Mexican. AND I'm fluent in German because my mom is half. get over it, in America it's usually multicultural in populated areas (ex. Atlanta, and California ), it's not like that in Mexico... youre either a bilingual, or speak only Spanish or only speak your native tongue.
Jonathan Montiel lmaoo
Jonathan Montiel mind you, Spanish isn't the native language of Mexico. it does not make him any less of a Mexican American if doesn't speak another European language.
this niggah is sick wit it. He got 2Pac up in Mexico lol
TREBLE84 your channel is garbage
TREBLE84 lmfao you really think I watched your videos? They fucking shit I don’t even have to click on them. I have no videos and you only got 2 more subs then me. That’s pretty fucking sad.
Buy him a sombrero then
mad respect for the. homie kap..keep in it real not being shy to put on for his people ...salute to a firme vato
So much respect for Kap G man I completely understand where he's coming from as I'm from a predominant African American neighborhood as well. I'm glad he's reppin for la raza 🤘🏽 props
Kap G seems like a humbled dude.....
Roots are in the heart , that's Mexico .

Enjoyed the video
its funny how he said how these rappers take there lingo... BUT he aint hating, then on the flipside u got mexicans on trap beats saying nigga like its cool... dont easily be influinced DO U
I get it he's from a black neighborhood but I still don't get the fact that he cant speak good Spanish ,,I doubt his parents talked English too him all his life
El Mexicano so what about the mexicans that be in america over 30 yrs n can't speak english?
Spanish isn't Mexicans first lauange
I'm pretty sure he speaks Spanish to his parents or when he HAS to speak it but he speaks English mostly because that's how most mexican Americans grow up. When I would go to school most of the days its all about talking in English and u never know if his parents worked night shift and slept during the day so they probably didn't communicate as much. At least that was my case. I only spoke Spanish to my parents only to them. And when I went to Mexico I was forced to speak Spanish and even ppl in Mexico would tell me that I speak weird or that I have an accent. For that reason before I went to Mexico I didn't speak much Spanish. But now I do. You never know how he grew up don't judge. He isn't the only one
El Mexicano subscribe
Alot of foreigners dont really keep the traditions goin with their kids when they come to america THOUGH....alot of polynesians cant speak their language alot of native Americans even though they are born in AMERICA cant reelly spek their language also....so its not his FAULT that hes2 the way he is...jus like its not my fault that im born in AMERICA....cheer up love he knows who he is and what he is and its how he grew up.....its what his FAMILY had to do....they did the best they could...and regardless of what he he turned out to be a beautiful SOUL
Bigups Kap G, you've gone so far and you finna go farther👌🏾
Love this
All that food making me hungry
its cool af that he did this but kap g aint mexican he a nigga. i consider him black just cause he was raised with african americans
does he look blacn to you? don't be an idiot. I remember growing up around blacks and talking like this. As I started associating with different people from different ethnicities, maily white people, I started to lose my "ghetto talk."
That don't make sense homie I'm mexican born and raised in LA us mexicans and blacks grew up together!! No one calls us niggas reguardless if we love 2pac or if we love jordans!! It's called evolution!!
u dumb af
race is a socially constructed idea. It really doesn't exist, well just one the human race
THE KILLUMINATI then why say he a nigga idiot. if he's just a human like you say think before you type
keep it up g
i love the way u rap
bruh i swear i respect him foe that bruhh❤❤❤much love foe him❤❤
"I thought the audience was gonna be people with cowboy hats and belt buckles…" LOL You're in Mexico City boy! A metropolitan four times the size of Atlanta. Why are so many americans ignorant? Are your schools that bad? I dig Kap G tho I'm just saying he sounded a bit ignorant saying that...

Those people are embarrassing
I glad YOU CAME home TO México TO SEE HOW WE get down
love his voice😍😍
for the ignorant people that follow the criminals label on our people we are not Latino and not hispanic ...mexicans mexicas indigenous to this continent ..indigenous pride ! indigenous land ! always will be ..never forget 1492 .
Mexican is not a race. There are native, White, Mestizos, Castizos, Black, Mulatos, etc.
Indigenous Pride!!!! I’m Native Paiute, Shoshone, Mvskoke, and Seminole. All indigenous people from the top of Canada, to the tip of South America. We been here, we still here, and we will always be here! We are all one people. It’s because of the white man and the division they created as to why most no longer recognize that.
very well done
@6:36 i thought young dolph was about to pop out the back in say "PREACH" 😂😂😃
thats rite kap g keep it up carnal serio i understand u g. i came out the struggle been thru alot and still going thru... i had the dream to become a rapper for real and i was sure good at it but didnt keep on with it. my respects to you kap g keep doing it big
I believe he was in the movie DOPE. He's cute😊
Cute?? Are you blind or just plain stupid??
why didnt Kap G rap in spanish like king lil g
Can he even speak Spanish??
I don't think he can
The native Language in Mexico City is actually Nahuatl, so he should start with Mexican spanish and move on to Nahuatl. Over 8 Million people in Mexico speak Nahuatl to this day.
+Leo Villicana what you talking about? I from Mexico City and nobody talks nahualt .
king lil g speaks perfect spanish, i've met him in person, now cap g can't even pronounce Mexico corectly.
